Amnesia: The Dark Descent

We're currently going through an age where the horror genre is dying out as they're getting repetitive, at least for horror games that occupy the Steam market and Steam Greenlight. However, when people thought that there was no hope, Amnesia: The Dark Descent decided to come on in and show everybody how a horror game should be done. In Amnesia: The Dark Descent, the main thing that makes it a truly great horror experience is the fact that it makes you defenceless as you have nothing to defend yourself against the horrors that may lie inside the castle. All you have is your trusty oil lantern, which keeps on running out of oil and forces you to find more. Your only way of truly escaping these monsters is to hide from them by using the darkness and the hiding places to your advantage. However, if you spend too long in the darkness, it can affect your sanity, so you can't spend too long in the darkness. This is a great way to experience true horror, making you feel defenceless against the monsters that litter the castle, that are rigorously trying to hunt you down. It's rare you feel this sort of way in horror games nowadays, which is why it's so refreshing to see it being taken into effect in this game. There are also some puzzles that are thrown at the player, none of these puzzles are difficult per say as long as you've been paying attention to the notes and hints that have been left around for you, however some of these puzzles feel a bit tedious and unnecessary to add in. The story of Amnesia is that you play as Daniel who has woken in the castle with no recollection of anything at all, you as the player must tread through the castle, picking up notes, piecing back together Daniel's memory, avoiding the enemies around the castle and foiling a maniacal scheme that is set to be carried out. I always like the sort of games that throw this sort of plot at the player because it makes you feel immersed in the role as the main character knows as much as the player does and he learns along with the player. However besides the set up of it, the rest of the plot doesn't feel that special and, I'm not going to reveal spoilers here or anything, but by the time I reached the end of the game, I felt like I had more questions than answers and for the last 20 minutes, due to the story, I felt like I wasn't really playing the game I thought I was going to be playing when I first started it up, if you know what I mean. This is an indie development company and I was amazed by the graphics when the game started. They went into lots of detail when designing the game. The lighting work that is done on the windows of the castle is great, the walls look really god and detailed, even the monster look quite good. The only complaint I have is that some of the creatures that scatter across the ground at times look like they were made of an ugly blob, but that's just nit-picking. The sound in this game is brilliant. The noises that occupy the castle sound terrifyingly real, especially with headphones, it really helps you immerse yourself in the world that this game is creating. I really enjoyed my time with Amnesia: The Dark Descent as it took risks that other horror games dare not take and did it with a terrific pay off Pros + Terrifying + Good gameplay elements + Good graphics + Great sounds + Pretty good story Cons - Tedious puzzles - Got a bit sci-fi near the end

Bully: Scholarship Edition

Bully is a good game on Wii, Xbox 360 and PS2 but the pc port is a terrible transition. It isn't on the levels of Dark Souls' port or Resident Evil 4's port but there are quite a few issues that has made me more focused on them rather than the actual game and it's content. Here are the problems that rouble the PC port of bully and I'm gonna do something a bit similar to what I did with my Dark Souls review. I will upload a review of the console version of bully on metacritic but here on steam, I'm gonna focus on the pc's issues. I will put in the metacritic link here when I get it written: For now here are the issues on the PC version: PROBLEM 1: Poor mouse and keyboard support. I know that Bully has rebindable keys, but even if u rebind them, the controls will still be a mess. Running around will be awkward and you will find yourself running into walls and run into something when running around a corner. Controls are the worst when you're on a bike. Bike controls are similar to that of GTA SA's bike controls but add in the bad controls of the gameplay when you're on foot but imagine you're on an ice rink. When you make a turn, your bike will turn and possibly knock into something because the camera's hard to control and it will also veer into another direction and crash into something else. PROBLEM 2: Frame rate dips. Bully's frame rate ended up dippping into the 10's and sometimes into the single digits when I was performing certain actions and they did this throughout the whole game and they dipped alot when I wa indoors especially. PROBLEM 3: Missing environmental textures. Some textures throughout the environment (especially in the alley areas) are either missing nd have a white bloch in it's place, have an incorrect colour tint to it or are poorly textured and make it look like the developers snotted on the camera. PROBLEM 4: Frame rate locked. The frame rate was locked t 30 fps, a common problem that I've seen popping up repeatedly when I talk about bad porting. I have had a few friends say that they were able to get the game to 40 fps, but they needed to go into the game's files and delete all of the environment's shadows in it's file in order for it to get 40 and that still isn't a much better frame rate. Even after doing this, my friends still said they had repeated dips in frame rate into the single digits, even with the shadows deleted. Bully is a very good game on all of the other systems other than the PC. Bully isn't the worst port in history but it still isn't a good port.

I've found a game worse than Day One: Garry's Incident. Not only that, I've found a game worse than Galactic Hitman. This game is known as Second Coming and I'm shocked at how the devs programmed this. At least with Garry's Incident, I could see that the devs had put some creative effort into making it and at least with Galactic Hitman it worked. Well done Kobra Studio, you're now worse than Digital Homicide and that's an achievement. Second Coming is a FPS where you need to complete basic military objectives, while battling against terrible AI, disappearing grounds, huge amounts of pop in, terrible voice acting, terrible graphics, awful controls, frequent crashes, missing sfx, poor gameplay, out of place objects, invisible enemies, stiff character models, frequent fps dips to the single digits, poor optimisation, basically you're fighting against a terrible game throughout your experience. The one good thing about this game is the opening cutscene, it's hilariously bad. YouTube a video of the opening cutscene and I guarantee you that it will be much more entertaining than anything in this "game". The camera is extremely sensitive in the opening cutscene and then stays like that for the rest of the game. The game is not fun either because of all of the issues that I listed before. I'm being dead serious when I say this, I actually got a headache and fealt sick while playing this game and this is the first time a game has done that to me. I know that this is a really short review but the thing is that this game is so bad that it doesn't deserve for me to go into detail like I have done with the rest of my reviews because I don't care about this game, that's saying something when someone who wrote a long bloated review for both Garry's Incident and Slaughtering Grounds. Because of this, I'm just going to finish off with the final verdict Pros + Hilarious opening scene Cons - terrible AI - disappearing grounds - huge amounts of pop in - terrible voice acting - terrible graphics - awful controls - frequent crashes - missing sfx - poor gameplay - out of place objects - invisible enemies - stiff character models - frequent fps dips to the single digits - poor optimisation

I was hooked on this game as soon as I got it. I demand that everyone gets this game, don't ask any questions just go out and get it now You want my full review? *sigh* fine. TF2 is made by the gods of game developers Valve. TF2 brings in so much stuff to make the online FPS genre feel like a new fresh idea. Tons of more classes that, unlike COD, feel like they're different with different appeareances and customization options. Gameplay is done in a sort of way to make the player, like me, get addicted to this and make them not want to move for a while, until you improve and make it so that you're the best possible. If u find a server with a perfectly balanced team, you will have tons of fun, filled with tons of tension and tons of fun. If any of you have seen my L4D2 review, you'll remember when I said that it mainly focuses on realism but also has a slight cartoon tint to it. TF2 throws realism out the window, goes with a full cartoon tint and cartoon gore and rarely takes anything seriously and it knows it doesn't take itself seriously at times and I respect it for doing that as I haven't seen many shooters that do this sort of thing. It's either that shooters take themselves really seriously, which is the majority of the shooters out there or shooters that take themselves so seriously that it's funny. The classes actually feel unique. Unlike other shooters where it feels like it doesn't really matter what class I take, in TF2 it really does dependon ur play style. If u pick a sniper, it REALLY IS harder to fight close distance. If ur playing as Heavy it REALLY IS hard to fight long distance. TF2 is a nice breath of fresh air and I'm glad to see that it doesn't follow what other game devs are doing which is why I really respect Valve for making this. Pros: + Addicting + Good classes + Good gameplay + Creative graphics Cons - A few glitches

Revelations 2012

This game is a great example of Steam's quality control, because they can't hide behind anything else. They can't say anything like "It was on greenlight and the public voted for it, so that means it's the public's fault." The only reason that this game was put onto Steam was because it was made in the source engine, yeah, imagine if you made the worst game ever, put no amount of effort into a game, most people would say that it's terrible, but Valve/Steam would accept it because it was made with their engine, but the trouble is, you can't, because Dark Arz Entertainment beat you to it. If you can't tell by the screenshots, this is a clone of Left 4 Dead but is set in what was supposed to be the year when the world ended, as predicted by the Aztecs. Now, that doesn't sound like a too bad a concept but it's the execution and the laziness of the whole game here in general. You all know that the source engine gives off good graphics and are the type of graphics that will still live up to any day, as shown by games like Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead and Garry's Mod. The graphics in Revelations 2012 look like the were done in the earliest version of Source engine, I'm talking the original Half-Life's graphics. If you're saying "they used an older version" because they didn't, the setup of the game is done in the Half-Life 2 and Left 4 Dead style, so there's no excuse for the game to look this bad. The gameplay is marginally the same as Left 4 Dead but add in some unresponsive controls, unnecessary controls that overlap the necessary controls so the game doesn't know which action you want to perform so it's mandatory that you rebind the keys before playing. The most handiest key in this game is Alt+F4. They also somehow manage to take the once addicting gameplay of Left 4 Dead and make it boring with no AI director so you're experiencing the same thing over and over again. The sound is also terrible. Imagine the horrible sound **** throwing up his lunch into a bugle horn, proceeding to make a sound out of it and then proceeding to throw up into a trombone and playing them both simultaneously. The sound in this game is unbearable to listen to. Revelations is a chunk of boring mess, cobbled together with bad graphics, disgusting sounds and taking a beloved engine and abusing the hell out of how it's used, get a grip Valve, don't make yourselves grow a boner just because someone else is using your engine. Actually ply the games yourself and see what they're like or stick it on greenlight and hide behind someone else. Pros + Nothing Cons - Bad graphics - Unbearable sound - Misuse of an engine - Boring gameplay - Repetitive

CastleMiner Z

This is possibly one of the hardest reviews I've done. There's a part of me that likes this game and there's a part of me that doesn't like this game. It is a rip off yes, but it has enough new ideas to redeem itself of being a rip off. I'm probably confusing quite a few of you with this opening so I'll just get into the review. Gameplay/playability For those of you that haven't figure out the clown standing in front of you honking his nose in front of you, this game is a minecraft rip off and it doesn't exactly seem too afraid to show that. Now you might be thinking that if it's a rip off, why not get minecraft. Well, there are a few things this game has over the original game it's ripping off. The most distinctive difference that everyone notices is that this game has guns that actually function well, unlike the guns that modders have been trying to put into Minecraft for years. CastleMiner Z also has challenge, like MineCraft did, but the thing is about this is that it sort of adds into the challeneg but it also takes some of the challenge out. The basic objective of Minecraft was to survive, gathering food, cook it in a stove while stocking up on coal, keeping your health high. Your main objective in MineCraft was to reach The End, defeat the Ender Dragon. In CastleMiner Z, hunger no longer applies, which already takes away half of the challenge MineCraft had and you might be saying "They did this so it wasn't a complete rip off" I say "They use the same block style of MineCraft, that's probably as obvious as an elephant trying to fit in at a mice gathering" CastleMiner Z takes that Ender Dragon boss battle at the end of MineCraft and places different dragons throughout the world you inhabit. You might be thinking that it's great to fight tons of dragons like the ender dragon tons fo times but I beg to differ. The thing that made the Ender Dragon boss battle good in MineCraft was because you could only do that once in your play through and you felt really accomplished and triumphant when you defeated this dragon and destroyed all of it's crystals. With CastleMiner Z, it takes the lazy route to combat where there's no challenge and just blaze bullets out on the dragons and even though I felt triumphant after beating my 1st dragon, it quickly wore off as I progressed. Another thing that makes me dislike CastleMiner Z over MineCraft is its objective. MineCraft had you go all over the place surviving, going to the nether and fighting the Ender Dragon. Now, with the basic premise of survival gone in CastleMiner Z (due to the lack of a hunger bar and regenerating health) what does it do instead to keep the player entertained? Nothing. Without this premise, CastleMiner Z sort of feels pointless. It gives you the objective of moving North as far as you can but, it again doesn't show much challenge while throwing this weird objective at you. There are other game modes yes, but there are games that have pulled these game modes off better than CastleMiner Z did. I can easily understand why people might find these game modes fun but MineCraft was unique and CastleMiner Z tries to wrap up this weird deformed child of MineCraft and COD which isn't exactly a great combination, at least in my eyes. For people that enjoy this sort of concept, you will spend tons of time on this guaranteed, however if you're like me, you will get bored of this game quite quickly. Graphics/Sound The graphics is one of my main praises towards the game. I actually found CastleMiner Z really appealing to look at. It has this great tint to the blocky...blocks to make them have this blend of realism and make them look like they belong there. If you don't believe me, take a look at the screenshots. The sounds to this game is a mixed bag. While the sounds to everything is good, they're inconsistent. The sounds that have been used for everything, doesn't sound like they belong in one place, it's sort of like if you get unity assets and then top them off with RPG maker assets and a blend of Unreal engine assets. While the sounds are fitting to what they have been designated to, none of these sound like they should fit together. There are some really good ideas used in CastleMiner Z and underneath all of these issues I have talked about, there is definitely a good game under here somewhere but I'm just not seeing it unearth yet. Pros + Adds in new ideas to redeem it being a rip off + Cheap + Good graphics + Some will enjoy the gameplay Cons - Boring gameplay - Useless objectives - Little to no challenge - Inconsistent sounds

Romero's Aftermath

Romero's Aftermath is the spiritual successor to Infestation: Survivor Stories...That should probably tell you something. Like the game before it, Aftermath is basically a DayZ clone but free to play. All I'm going to say to that, is you get what you pay for. You're dropped into an open world with other players and you need to survive. One thing that I will praise Aftermath for is that it is challenging. You need to get food so you don't die of hunger. You need water bottles for water, because your character can't drink ou of lakes for some reason. Don't try and say "The river's dirty" or anything like that as an excuse, because dirty water is a consumable in the game. But, the game does bring a big challenge o anyone but then again, that's soething DayZ has already done. Aftermath does nothing to make people choose this over DayZ except for 3 things: 1) Take everything that was good about DayZ and make things 10X worse 2) Free to play (which is one of the few praises I have for this game) 3) Add in a micro transactions element to the game and make everything that's incuded in the in game store incredibly hard to find in game so you try and make tons of cash from it. It also doesn't help that around 60% of the servers in this game are servers where barely anything functions. Graphics in this game are decent to say the least. The game could have looked worse, but it easily could have looked alot better. This game is better than Infestation: Survivor Stories bu that isn't really saying much. I don't even think tht this game is worth picking up even when it's free. There is already an infinately better version out there called DayZ. The devs are going with the tactic "It's free, it's meant to be ****" In my opinion, that's not a valid excuse. If you're putting a game onto an insanely popular market and it's free to play, then it has to at least be half decent. Look at Team Fortress 2, that game is free to play and that game is amazing and tons of people are still playing it to this day, I doubt anybody will remember this game any time in the near future. Pros + Decent graphics + Challenging + Better than Infstation: Survivor Stores Actually you know what, forget about that last pro, that isn't something to be proud about Cons - Boring gameplay - Half broken servers - Bugs and glitches - Terrible animations - Micro Transactions

I would like to thank a few people before I start the review: Firstly I would like to thank the developer Demon Sword for joining me and Kage for the interview that is up on Kage's YouTube channel (The Annoying Atheist) I would also like to thank Kage for organising the interview and for supplying me with a key for the game. I would most of all like to thank Digital Homicide for sending me an email, linking the discussion page they put up on the game and there for bringing the game to mine and Kage's attention (even if they did call us abusers in the email.) This review might be a bit hard for me to write as this is the first EA review that I've done so I still need to keep in mind that this game is still not a finished product. So, apologies if this isn't as good as my other reviews if I so happen to frget this is in EA. The gameplay of Cycle of Tyrfing is reminicent to that of the old Castlevania games however it makes enough changes and tweaks to the original gameplay of Castlevania to make itself seem unqiue. Throught the game you will encounter different stones that contain different powers and these powers can help you defeat certain enemies and certain bosses. The boss fights are also done well as it forces you to memorise the attack patterns of the boss fights in order for you to beat the boss correctly and more efficiently than if you just button mash attack them and hope that you win. It pays off to memorise the patterns, that's my tip. People tend to have complained abut poor mouse & keyboard support and ,like I said in the interview, I personally fealt that the mouse and keyboard controls were ok but I have been known to adapt to bad cntrols. If there are alot of people complaining about the controls however, I do recommend to Demon Sword that they should add in rebindable keys which I believe he is doing now, as he said in the intrview. However there is one complaint about the gameplay that I have but then again it doesn't really count towards the gamplay but more as to the fact of how you play, I'm talking about the options menu. The options menu, in it's current state, seems quite bare bones. There is sound and enhance performance and that's just about it. I would really like for there to be a screen resolution option in th options menu as when I was recording gameplay for this, my recording system didn't go along well and I believe this has something to do with the resolution as it isn't detecting it as a game, it's detecting it as a window. There is also no full screen option implemented into the game yet either but, like I said before, Demon Sword claims that he is working on implementing these options into the game so I'll let that slide. The story is told through comic strips which relly adds into the immersion that I was feeling throughout the game as I fealt like I was controlling a comic (the action parts of it anyway.) The story isn't exactly anything unique because it's the same sort of story that we're all familliour with. An evil army is built, our hero must destroy them. The graphics are good for the most part. The background art is amazing! I can tell that alot of time and effort was put into the backgrounds because they look beautiful. Enemies look good as well and there were alot of creative designs used throughout the game. The one complaint I have is the main character. I'm not screaming about sexism before someone disregards it and I'm not criticising it about that either. The design is good but the animations for the main character look stiff and unnatural and there was a slight blur tint added to when she runs which I wasn't a huge fan of either. But the graphics and designs are ,for the most part, good. The music composition, I know that Demon Sword has a kickstarter campaign in order to make his own composition for the game but personally, I think that your own unique composition will be great but, if you're unable to get your own composition into this, I personally would think that the music would be fine as it is. I'm not saying "Don't add your own composition in" I still think you definately should because it would definately improve the sound in the game but all I'm saying is that if you're somehow unable to get your composition into the game, I still think the game will be successful. I'm not going to give this game a final verdict yet because it's still in early access. I will give a final verdict when this game is released however. Keep up the good work.

Alpha Protocol

User ScoreMellow_Online4
Apr 22, 2016
Alpha Protocol is a game that I really wanted to like. I tried to look past the flaws that this game had, but I honestly couldn't. The best thing I can say about Alpha Protocol is that it at least tried to be something different, but even if you try to do something different, it doesn't mean that it will always be good. Alpha Protocol has a unique concept, an espionage RPG. I was surprised to see that this sort of idea, hadn't been done that often in gaming and that is one thing that I respect this game for doing. The main problem with this however is that in my opinion, Alpha Protocol doesn't really use any of the unique ideas it brings to the table that well and the basic stuff that are required to make a good game (like gameplay, playability and graphics) aren't really focused on as they put most of their thought, time and care into trying to implement these ideas to try and live up to it's name "an espionage RPG." One of the biggest problems Alpha Protocol has is in it's gameplay. Nearly everything in the gameplay falls flat. While the training section at the beginning of the game, does show off some great ideas for an espionage RPG like sneaking mechanics, combat and gadgets, I didn't feel like I was having any fun playing this or doing any of these ideas for gameplay because in the end, that's what I was thinking they were, just some ideas. I felt like these ideas were only half executed. The ideas are there, but they just stopped after that. Sneaking is basically useless because the AI is really bad. Gun combat feels restricted an the sensitivity never feels right no matter what you set it to. Melee combat, while it's better than gun combat, feels slippery for the majority of the time, but at least it was more controllable than the gun Gadgets are basically useless in combat because you can't really tell where they'll land. There's no targeting ridicule for them so you just need to predict where they'll land. Graphics are for the most part good however there are several flaws with them. There is quite a lot of slow loading textures from time to time and the longer I played, the more frequently these occurred. There is also a bit of pop in going on quite a bit. Apart from that there isn't much to say about the graphics. They're decent but they could have gotten more polish before release like the rest of the game. The sound seemed to repeatedly cutting out randomly for some reason throughout my play time as well. However, this didn't affect my overall feeling towards the game in any way and I easily ignored it as it wasn't too big of a deal. In this review, it might come off like I hate Alpha Protocol and even though that's true, there's still some good ideas that are put into Alpha Protocol, which might have been good if they developed these ideas further. The stuff that is common to see and expect in an RPG is present in Alpha Protocol but these things we have seen done a bunch of times are exactly that. Alpha Protocol does nothing to change the styles that are common in RPGs except for the dialogue options, which is one of the best I've seen. Overall, Alpha Protocol is buggy and generic. It barely does anything to stand out from the crowd and when it tries to do this, it usually falls flat. However, it still uses some ideas which I hope to see in RPGs in a future and if the developers of this game were to make a sequel, maybe tweaking the game a bit, I would definitely buy the sequel to see if these ideas are developed more. Pros + Some good ideas + Great concept + Good mechanics + OK graphics Cons - Underdeveloped ideas - Terrible AI - Restricted/slippery combat - Slow loading textures

Highschool Possession

Thank you KageSpartan for the game donation. I was pleasantly surprised by Highschool Possession. I went in, expecting a cliched visual novel that should belong in the Steam trash bag but I found myself surprisingly enjoying it. I have a weird feeling this is gonna be a shorter review than what I usually write as there isn't as much to cover in a visual novel than in other games. For those who are unfammilliar with a visual novel then I'll give you a quick introduction. Visual novels are quite self explanatory. It's a novel that you have visuals to accompany you. So for those that only care about the gameplay ****, then you probbly won't like visual novels, but, if you're like me and enjoy the story **** or if you're someone who likes to play/watch something different in you life, then visual novels might be perfect for you. I'm not saying there isn't any gameplay in a visual novel, there is gameplay but it isn't the central focus. The gameplay of a visual novel is just you choosing wht you might say in a certain situation but that's just about the only gameplay there is in a visual novel. With the introduction to a visual novel out of the way, I'll get onto the actual review now. Highschool Possession doesn't have as much gameplay as othr visual novels do but that doesn't always mean that it's going to be bad but the gameplay sections of Highschool Possessions don't come up that often and it didn't feel like I was affecting much of what would happen in the story with these decisions. The game is about 2 hours long and you could maybe streatch it to 3 hours if you want to see all of the endings but there are only around 5 sections of the game where you can change the affects of the game and all of them feel like hey won't make much of a difference to the events that will unfold. Now onto the main part a visual novel needs to get right, the story. Does it succeed? Yes. The story is really compelling and has a great message to get out to people and even though it's sort of a message to teen troubles, it was still fun going through the story and it included likeable characters, despite only having around 8 included. The story is that you're a boy named Hikaru and he has a crush on 2 female students. He doesn't know which one to ask out. However, one morning he wakes up to find that he keeps on switching between thse 2 girls' bodies, everytime he falls asleep. When he's in their bodies, he gets to experience what their life is like and starts to discover some dark secrets that they have never opened up about. I was really invested within this story and was really curious and wanted to find out what the hell was going on within their lives and wantedd to see how this would all end. The visual art that goes along with this game is definately some of the best that's on Steam. The backgrounds looked beautiful to look at, the characters were well designed. The dialogue is for the most part good however, there was quite a few grammar mistakes that I noticed through the story but nothing seemed misspelle which was a good sign compared to a few other visual novels that I've played. I think that if you're wanting to see what a really good visual novel is like, give this a try. It takes a message that we've all heard tons of times when we were teens and kids but actually wraps it up into a compelling narrative to make you pleased that you've heard it again. Pros + Great story + Good way of displaying it's message + Great visual art + Good character designs Cons - Not many choices - Frequent grammar mistakes

Alone in the Dark (2008)

What the hell happened to this franchise? Alone in the dark was a classic survivl horror and was the basis of what would become the popular Resident Evil franchise, however, newer games with new ideas started coming out and Alone in the Dark was left out in the dust. Atari quickly put their minds to work and decided to resurrect this forgotten franchise but make it fit in with the new demographic of gamers by taking out everything that made Alone in the Dark great and adding in every sort of cliche in horror game history. Gameplay is the biggest thing that's been butchered in Alone in the Dark as it literraly doesn't live up to it's name. You're not alone because there are tons of people that will follow you around at some point and you're rarely in the dark. You can play the game from a first or third person perspective but the controls for both of these perspectives are terrible. When in first person, your sight is limited to what you can see an you'll most likely get stuck on something and half the time, you won't even know what you're stuck on. In third person, the controls feel restricted and you'll struggle to pull of basic actions in the game. The camera is awful in the third person view because your mouse is terrible for controlling the camera and it constantly fights with you. I failed doing a certain jump near the beginning of the game and it took me 6 attempts to get right because the camera switched perspectives when I went to jump. There are a few gameplay elements which seemed like good ideas but weren't used up to their full potential. The inventory management is one of them. In game, when you want to look through your inventory, the game doesn't pause and you need to look down at yourshirt and actually select the items you want to use which is a great idea but, you might be shocked to hear this, the controls **** in the inventory screen. You will constantly try and navigate over to a certain item that you want, only for the game to take you to an item that you've never needed before. The game is also buggy as hell and some bugs will prevent you from proceeding with the game. The story is that Mr. forgettable and unlikeable main character wakes up shortly before he is meant to be killed by some men for whatever reason and the thing is Mr. forgettable and unlikeable main character can't remember anything about himself. However some weird creatures stop him from being killed and he escapes the building with a little bit of information about his task and he also escapes with Ms. Obvious girlfriend for unlikeable and forgettable main character. So the 2 go out and try and complete the task he's been given and also figure out who he is. By a horror stand point, this plot has been done to death but most horror games add a unique thing to it to make their specific telling of this plot memorble. Alone in the Dark doesn't. It literraaly takes the bear bones of a plot structure and uses it as it's final product. Graphics are a mixed bag and the graphics is probably the best thing this game has going for it. Certain things in Alone in the Dark look amazing. The fire looks brilliant and it's great just to watch the fire spread across more of a surface. The game overall looks OK but there are quite a few badly textured things you will come across throughout playing Alone in the Dark. Sound is relatively bad aswell, mainly because some sounds are actually missing from th game, mainly in the SFX. Some sounds cut out randomly and for no reason at all aswell. The game is quite short for a horror game and you can complete it within about 12 hours (my timer counter is broken for this, probably because my steam account had mercy on me and it didn't want anyone else to know that I had played this game for 12 hours.) There is no reason to replay Alone in the Dark either because there are so many bad things that are included in this that youwill not want to put yourself through this torture anymore. This was meant to have been the great return of a classic survival horror video game series but instead we were left with a buggy, ugly and unfinished mess Final verdict Pros + Some great ideas + Decent graphics Cons - Awful controls - Buggy as hell - Forgettable story - Unlikeable characters - Missing sounds - Some ugly textures

Skyrim is a masterpiece. It's one of my favourite games of all time even 4 years after release I'm still enjoying every second I spend in Skyrim. I hated myself for just playing Skyrim on ps3 as my fun was quadrupled when I got it on the PAC, mainly because of the modding community. I'll now talk about how good Skyrim is. The Story The story in Skyrim isn't really talked about that much because people tend to get side-tracked from Skyrim's story due to the huge open world of Skyrim. The plot of Skyrim is that u play as a prisoner who is about to be executed along with some other storm cloaks. However lucky for you a dragon attacks the city and kills nearly everyone in the city and destroys most of it. You and a member of the imperials escape though and the open world of Skyrim is then opened up to you. You then need to find out why the dragons are coming back and stop them. After doing a few quests you discover you are one of few people to be called a "Dragonborn" which is basically a person who slays dragons and absorb their souls. The story in my opinion is one of the let downs Skyrim has. I know I have seen this sort of plot before and it seems just boring. I didn't really care about why the dragons are coming back I just wanted to stop them. Thank god that the quests you're put on are better than the plot. The characters Like most Bethesda games I don't particularly think that the characters really stood out. People just seem to be people. There isn't much else to say about it I didn't really care much about people I just thought they were people going about their business. The exception is actually the playable character. I seem to like the playable character more than most of the people living in Skyrim which is saying something as the main character is the only character that isn't given a personality. The personality is forged by the player. If they want their character to be a cold hearted murderer who works for the dark brotherhood they can make them be that, they want them to be the civil protector of Skyrim they can do that as well, if you want them to settle down have a family with a wife and kids and a house you can make them do that (Well with the hearthfire DLC) Graphics and sfx The graphics in Skyrim are great I only wish my computer was able to handle the ultra graphics setting so I'll need to settle with high quality. However I do have a few complaints about the graphics. The graphics seem to make some parts of Skyrim particularly the snowy areas of Skyrim look rather drab and bland. I also thought they could have made the water look a bit better. In the end I decide to get mods to fix my problems so there now doesn't seem to be much to complain about graphics wise The sound is fantastic. Sound changes depending on the scenery you're in you can listen in on other people's conversations if you're in towns you can even get quests if you listen to the conversations. Enjoyment I really enjoyed my time in Skyrim and I still visit it every once in awhile. All quests seemed fun and some of the side quests seemed to have better plots than the actual main plot of Skyrim. I also seem to like the DLC plots more than the main plot of Skyrim. I even had fun just running around exploring all of Skyrim Final Verdict No matter weather you've played previous elder scrolls games before or you're not into open world games I recommend Skyrim to literally anyone I can find Skyrim is a must buy, even more of a one if you get a deal on it, DLCs are also worth it too however I might wait till the Hearthfire DLC has a discount on it as it doesn't add as much as the Dawnguard or Dragonborn DLCs.

Risen is definitely a good game but it's far from a masterpiece. This is definitely good graphics for 2009 (well with the settings maxed out.) but When the people at deep silver were making this hard-core RPG they did need to cut budgets on a few of the things, one of them being the voice acting. The voice acting sounds like the people were half asleep when saying their lines, the best thing I can say about the voice acting is that I've heard worse. There are some elements to the game which, I have to say I'm not a big fan of like if u want to pick up an item u need to put your weapon away. If u want to cook u need to have a pan equipped but those are just nit-picks. The worst thing about Risen though, has to be the plot. The plot is u were a stowaway on a ship and said ship is destroyed by the kraken and u wash ashore on a beach. Then when u start exploring the island u find the locals and they tell u there are strange ruins that have risen from the ground and u need to find out y. Exciting story isn't it? Another problem is that when u kill an enemy your game freezes for maybe 1 sec and I hear from Xbox 360 players of the game that their game freezes for about 5 secs some versions even longer. So u will need to be very patient with Risen. The AI seems a little too smart as they seem to dodge 9/10 of your attacks so I recommend to first time players of risen (Even if you've played other RPGs) Play on easy first. There are a few times where the game can also get a tad bit boring but that only happened on 2 occasions. The map is really hard to figure out as well. Those are the only problems I can think of about Risen. u r looking at about 60 hours of gameplay with the main missions and side missions. I complete it on another PC of mine and I've just started a 2nd play through on this one. The characters are unique they all seem to have a different personality. There are tons of dialogue choices in Risen just like those in Knights Of The Old Republic. If u love looting in RPGs like I do hen this game is a Must buy. Your inventory is unlimited u can hold an unlimited amount of items not like Skyrim or fallout where u have a weight limit but Skyrim and Fallout are still better than risen. Overall if u like RPGs or u love looting this game is a definite buy but make sure you get the PC version because I've heard tons of complaints about the Xbox 360 version.

Oh bring Satan upon me I'm criticising one of the most popular horror games of 2014/2015! Now please hear me out! I think that in both video games and movies the horror genre is basically on life support and the only thing that horror games have left is that they hope that a youtuber does a let's play of them o their let's play channel. I find it quite hard to find a horror game that has been released within the last 5 years that I can actually say were great horror games. These games being: Alan Wake, Amnesia: the dark descent, Outlast, Alien: Isolation and the evil within. That isn't a lot compared to there being like 500 horror games made in 5 years. Tons of my friends were talking about this game saying it's horror game of the year and I personally don't see why this is supposed to be scary. I just say to them "Alien: Isolation came out the same year" Five nights at Freddy's is a horror game (In case u hadn't figured that out already) where a whole lot of nothing happens. Well I mean stuff does happen and that stuff that happens is waiting. Remember those old jump scares that your friends used to send you in an email? Scott Cawthon did and decided to make a game based off of them. In those images you were just waiting for something to pop up and that's exactly what u do in FNAF. Your main goal is to keep an eye on the cameras in order to monitor where all 4 animatronics are at and when they get close to the door u shut it but u can't keep it shut for too long otherwise you will run out of power. Rinse and repeat. It isn't exactly the sort of pressure that should be in a horror game. I wait everyday in my life. I could literally recreate FNAF. I could wait in a waiting room then randomly my friend would say "boo" to me and that's basically. It also takes possibly the laziest and most cliché way of how to scare the gamers, it uses a jump scare. These are scary for like maybe the first 5-10 mins of the game but then the more I got these, the more I just got annoyed at the game and it really took away from any sort of horror elements I thought the game had at the time. There isn't really much story in the game itself, but the fan theories have tried to form some sort of story about a bite that happened in 87 by one of the animatronics but this story isn't exactly shown in the game, the fans were the ones that created the story and Scott must have just been like "Yeah that's a good story, I'll put it as a main plot element in the sequel." I would like to clarify that I don't have anything against Scott. He's an impressive indie developer and I'm sure he's a really nice **** like I said I'm just not a big fan of this game or it's "story" The graphics are to put it one way nostalgic. It isn't anything revolutionary but it brings back memories of the games I used to play on the windows 98, old detective games where I needed to scroll across the screen to find things in the scenery. The animations on the animatronics are also very good especially for an indie game. The sound is a mixed bag. Most of the sound is good but sometimes I hear sounds that I wouldn't exactly expect to hear in a pizzeria. For example u can sometimes hear one of the animatronics laugh. If they laugh that demoniacally y haven't any of the parents or their kids in the morning realised this and fear them. Y just at night? But that really is just nit-picking. I was personally bored of FNAF quite quickly and I didn't really want to touch it again after I beat 20/20/20/20 mode and I haven't touched it since. I personally didn't find any replay value in it which is why I haven't picked up the sequels either. But maybe u could find some reason to play through FNAF a second time. Throughout my whole playtime I had to press forward because I wanted to do everything I could, to analyse everything in FNAF in order to write this review and I was bored every second and the jump scares didn't alleviate that. I was just frustrated with them as it meant I needed to restart the night and waste more of my time. FNAF personally isn't for me but I can see why so many people like it. If u like FNAF that's fine I'm not going to judge u, I'm not going to judge Scott, I'm not going to address anybody. This game just isn't for me.

Game Dev Tycoon

This has been my most recent addiction. This is the first game that I've played that has made me ignore phone calls, knocks on my doors and basically anything that happens in my everyday life. That game is Game Dev Tycoon. The way the game works is that you start off as a small indie developer who develops games in his garage and your main objective is to gain popularity and you do this by making popular and well received games (so basically don't be Digital Homicide.) You might be thinking this is easy as the game doesn't look that hard, but that's the thing. It is easy to be OK at it, it takes a few hours to be good but it takes alot to master. I played this game staright for one day and sank 13 hours into it in 1 day. You need to manage statistics and think what's more iportant in the genre of game that you're creating and if you focus too much on a certain subject, you will get worse reviews and worse sales, you also need to manage your marketing correctly to achiee better sales. There are tons of stuff you need to manage and despite me not being that much of a fan of strategy games, Game Dev Tycoon gets a pass as it's a really simple game and eas to use by any age. One criticism that I have about Game Dev Tycoon is it's "story." Now people that have already played Game Dev Tycoon, you might be thinking "There is no story in Game Dev Tycoon, I'm not sure what this idiot is talking baout." That's not entirely true. The developers of the game even say there is a story when you reach the end of the game. The problem is there doesn't seem to be much of a difference between the story mode and when you comlete the stroy except that there are no new consoles are coming out. So you could sort of say that the story is the evolution of the game industry but it's not because it disregards a few of the things that were essential and had a big impact on the game industry. Despite the story not being good or there being a lack of one, that was consumed by the addicting gameplay. Graphics aren't really something to write home about but they look decent showing some good 2D cartoon characters & locations that have been created in a way to give a 2.5D effect. I do have one complaint though. When I moved into my final office, at times the frame rate dropped into the single figures then going to 40 then dropping again to 30 and then going back to 60, this happened on a regular basis. I can guarantee you that when you start playing Game Dev Tycoon, you won't want to stop. It pulls you in and you keep on challenging yourself to see if you can make the absolute perfect game on your favourite platform. I was only able to manage this after developing 70 games, yeah so you're gonna needplenty of practice and have plenty of knowledge of what genres fit with each theme and which genre is best played on which console. I can tell that I'm going to be playing Game Dev tycoon more than you originally think you'll be laying it when first buying it and I recommend this to anybody that has a fascination with games as a whole.

Payday 2 is my latest addiction as I've had my eye on this for quite a while and I'm going to tell everyonr that you need to go out and buy this now. Payday 2 is the sequel to Payday: The Heist which was released on PC and PS3. This game improves upon some of the issues that held the orignal game back and is automatically 10X better. Gameplay in Payday 2 has pits you and 3 other players into doing a heist. You and 3 oher players need to work together in order to pull off the heist and you will all individually earn an even cut of the money. As you complete different heists you will also gain XP sn you will climb your way through the different ranks and become the ultimate criminal. Each heist has a different difficulty setting and in order to pull some of them off, some will require casing the place before hand. I like this sort of feature as this game could have easily just made a generic shooter where you need to rob a bank but it didn't turn out that way. They let the players decide how to play so it can satisfy different players go through these heists in different ways. You can case the joint, pinpoint where the guards and cameras are, take them out quietly and go in quiet and stealthy or you can go in guns blazing. One certain thing that I don't like in the game is just one certain part. One of the first heists me and my friends did was a car dealership heist where you need to steal some cars from a dealership and sell them. It was going well and we always did well until we got up to a certain point and that was driving the cars to the pickup point. The driving controls ****. Me and my friends kept on crashing our cars on the most unlikeliest things and the cars moved awfully stiffly. Apart from that there isn't much to complain about. Graphics aren't exactly anything to write home about but they aren't bad these are good graphics but I can definately tell Overkill went for gameplay over graphics, which is something the devs of "The Order: 1886" need to learn.I'mnot saying the game is ugly to look at or anything these are good graphics but I think they could have been better. These look like graphics you'd get in a 2008 game not 2013. Sound is a mixed bag. Most of the soun is OK but some of the sound seems out of place and weird to listen to. When you get the game you will know what I'm talking about. The OK sound is... well OK but when you hear the weird, out of place sounds, they will stand out like a sore thumb. You will never get sick of playing Payday 2 as it's the sort of game that you can play the same heist over and over again and still find it difficult and challenging, even after 100 attempts. Me and my friends found this out at the car shop heist. If you want to try something different, something challenging yet enjoyable and to really test how well you and your friends cooperate with each other, this game is definately for you

I was so happy that one of my favourite point and click franchises was getting a new game, 7 years after the last game was released. I was jumping with excitement. What did I think of it when it came out? It was good..... That's basically all I can say about it. I really wanted to say more about this because I was expecting more, especially after a hugely successful kickstarter campaign making more than double the original target. I loved all of the broken sword games, I even have a disagreement with how people treat the 4th game. But it just seems to be missing the charm the other games had, the same goes for BS4. Whereabouts does this game rank along with the broken sword games, it ranks 4th. It's better than 4 but not as good as 2,3 or 1. My one gripe I have with this are the puzzles seem way too simple and straight forward. Same thing as the director's cut of the original. They dumb down the puzzles so that people with half a brain could do. You just need to do the basic adventure things in order to do the puzzles. It doesn't really do much to stand out from the crowd. They also have the hint system make a return from 1 and 2, but unlike them, the hint system seems unnecessary. Again because of the simple puzzles. The artwork is beautiful, as usual for broken sword. But the artwork in this seems better than the other games, especially the dated graphics of 3 and 4. Movements seem crisp and smooth which is a huge improvement of the awkward movements of NPCs in 1 and 2. Dialogue is basically the same as the previous games so not much to talk about there. Characters are again your typical broken sword characters. So not much to talk about there. I think a few of the critics are missing the point of this game as well as other point click games. They're saying that it's timeless. Any point and click game can be timeless as long as it's done right. Point and click games are similar to old Atari 2600 games and nes game. They're so simple by today's standards but if they're done correct they can leave an impact on the gaming community as a whole. Easy to make but hard to master. I love the idea of resurrecting old franchises as it appeals to all sorts of gamers. Newer gamers grab it because it looks new and interesting and older gamers grab it for the nostalgia. That's why I just love the feeling of playing another Broken Sword game and it was a good experience. Now I just need to wait for the next Monkey Island.

I'm a **** for anything zombie related and State of Decay was basically a dream come true. I heard about this game a long time ago and was guttered to find out it was going to be a xbox 360 exclusive. I jumped with joy however when I learned it was coming to PC. What were my feelings when it came onto PC, disappointed but satisfied. You're put into an open world infested by zombies and one thing that I like about the game is tht it literraly puts you right into the action. It doesn't give you any sort of tedious and padded out opening, it put you into the action. I'm not saying I don't like those sort of games as most game that do that end up being one of my favourite games of the year (The Walking Dead.) Gameplay works as a sort of third person shooter with stealth and melee combat. One bad thing I find the combat is that it's way too easy. Attack, attack, attack, reversal, rinse and repeat. Other parts that are included in the game prove to be a challenge. Mangement of resources, mission objectives expire so that means you need to question what your camp needs more of with a chance that you may never gain that amount of resources. It's also incredibly fun to play aswell, exploring the open world, exploring buildings that might contain resources but on your way home a horder could come for you and the resources will slow you down. Also when a survivor dies, they're permanately dead, you'll have to use a different surivor in your camp. Graphics are beautiful but they could be better. I noticed a few pop ins and badly textured rocks, moss and foliage. There were also quite a few times where performance took a turn for the worse. I experienced multiple frame ratedrops which is apparently something the Xbox version suffered from. I also experienced a few game breaking bugs and multiple crashes. You will want to replay State of Decay again even after finishing the story, as you will want to see if you can keep your survivors alive for a second time through.

OK hear me out. I know a lot of people are going to throw a temper tantrum because I've given this game an above average rating. I'm going to say it again, hear me out. Yes this game is flawed but is it as bad as people say it is, a game that was even nominated for the worst game of the year awards online. The answer to that is no. I see that this game has flaws but I still enjoyed my time with it. Does the game succeed in what it was made to be? No. It fails miserably to be a backstory to Daryl Dixon from the TV series. Mainly because the game is miserably short and can be completed in around 6 hours. Which should tell you that it doesn't give much backstory except it reveals only a tiny bit more about Daryl's family and how he got his crossbow. That might sound reasonable enough to some but the thing is these subjects are given a back seat to the rest of the game and these topics are only given about 5 mins of attention for the whole game. So for those wanting a backstory about Daryl you aren't going to get what you're looking for. But what about the rest of the game? Like I said before I recognise the game's flaws. Random encounters that you have during your travels are repeated way too often. They could easily add more levels. Some of the textures are quite bad but most of the game looks OK. Walker/Zombie AI is also bad for the most part. But I still found quite a bit to like in Survival instinct. I had to think during the situations I was in, I had to think of how I could get through certain situations. Like once I was faced with a horde of walkers coming in through the only 2 exits to the building I was in and I only had 4 bullets, so the only logical thing that I could think of in that short time I had to think as they were coming through the door was to run. I liked how the game had me think of what I would do in that situation unlike Telltale's walking dead where you are given options right in front of you. I found the stealth mechanics quite good in the game. There is all sorts of stuff that are on the floor like cans and paper that you could accidentally step on that cold alert a walker to your presence. So you need to keep paying attention to what you could stand on. I had fun just assembling my squad of survivors and sending them out behind the scenes to scour for items while I got on with the main mission. Guns are handled quite well as well, similar to litter on the floor guns can alert walkers to your presence but guns are also handy forgetting you out of bad situations but ammo is scarce, like in the show and comics. I wouldn't exactly say I like Survival Instinct but I think it deserves better treatment than what people and critics are giving it. I'm not saying we should bow down to the now shut down company Terminal Reality or Activision for coming up with a pure gem but I'm also not saying to throw toilet paper at their headquarters. In my opinion it's above average and nothing more.

I never really hopped onto the train of Mass Effect fans when the Mass Effect series first got popular because I couldn't really see why it had so much popularity. I feel bad for doubting this game. Gameplay in Mass Effect is typical to any sort of RPG by Bioware. The gameplay is a blend of dialogue and talking to people, third person shooting and exploring tons of different planets in tons of different galaxies. I was amazed by the shear size of Mass Effect, 8 different galaxies with around 5 or more in each and each planet feels unique and I don't think it is just a copy and paste of different planet. The character customization of Commander Sheppard, even though it's limited in some areas, I find is well done where you can customize your appearance to make him be as ugly as you want and you can even customize his backstory. What makes the character customization of backstories even better is that characters will have different dialogue responses depending on your choice of backstory. Most of the gameplay feature are good but I do have a couple of complaints. The third person shooting mechanics aren't that well done. They aren't terrible, they aren't on the scale of being unplayable but it feels like the third person shooter segments were just added in as an after thought and it took me alot of getting used to. The second and final problem I have with the gameplay is the karma system. One thing that I'm not too fond of in RPGs (despite RPGs being my favourite genre of video games) is the karma systems some off these games have) I like to build my character, now knowing if the choice that I just made was good or bad or Ilike to make a bad choice if I'm in abad or annoying situation without an affect on my karma. Because in these games I find it way too easy to be the good guy and way too easy to be the bad guy.I just like to be the character that I build my character up to be. Apart from those 2 complaints there aren't really any other complaints I have about the gameplay. The story in Mass Effect is that you play as the main character Commander Sheppard, who you can customize hisappearance and even his backstory. He joins up with a crew lead by Captain Anderson. His crew is given a task to procure a military beacon on the planet Eden Prime. However, after a disaster, involving one of the crew mates dying by the hands of a rogue spectre, who are the protectors of the council, the crew ends u failing. After providing evidence to the council that this spectre has gone rogue,it is up to Commander Sheppard and his crew to bring the rogue spectre down to justice. This general idea of a plot has been done alot but Mass Effect throws enough twists and turns in the story to make it seem unique. Graphics in Mass Effect are OK but could be better. While the game looks, in general, good, there are several graphical bugs and awful looking textures and slow loading textures which definately hold the game back. Sound is really good. There are creative sfx for sci-fi related objects that I wouldn't have even thought of which fit in excellently. This game will have you consumed for hours, I'm still busy exploring the galaxy and discovering all sorts of new stuff. There is also replay value in this. You will want to play the game again and try different dialogue choices, try and see if you can solve a problem either calmly, declaring war or see if you can find another creative way to solve a situation. Mass Effect is a gem **** that I reccommend to litterraly anybody that enjoys either SC-FIs or RPGs and if u fit in this category, this game is a must have.

This is easily one of the most addictive shooters that I've ever played. This was one of the first steam games, I ever played and got hooked on. I've even gotten to meet alot of my steam friends on this. Developed by the holy grail of game developers Valve, praise beyond to you. Left 4 Dead 2 is one of the most entertaining multiplayer co-op games that you can get on the steam marktet. It's made in Valve's traditional engine, the Source engine which always gives the games they make a look that will never get old. Left 4 Dead has a sort of a fusion with partially cartoony and mainly realistic look. Gameplay in Left 4 Dead 2 mainly consists of you playing one of four survivors and you needing to work together killing all of the zombies and reach the safety point at the end of the map and repeat it. You might be thinking i your head that this might get tedious and boring but surprisingly it doesn't. Left 4 Dead 2 has an element in it called an "A.I director" which means every time you come into the map a second time, the zombies will be in different places each time that you start it up. The AI is also excellent and keeps you and the 3 other player you will be playing with on the edge of their seats as you try and fight your way through a horde of zombies. Controls are basically like any of valve's games so they are easy and simple to get the hang of. However online play isn't without it's bugs and I wish tht Valve would patch these like there was a zombie that I encoutered sank into the floor, once there was a player who was invisible and an objective item didn't spawn in once. As you can probably see by my timer I have spent hours on this game and I still tend to play it to this day. This is the sort of game that I think you will easily fire up and hop onto play it in about 20 years time and has so much replay value. You will play it again and again and again. I reccommend this game to basically anybody. Doesn't matter wht sort of game genre tht you're into I'm telling you to buy this and thts an order.

I like open world games, I like RPGs and I like westerns. So this game is a dream come true. I am the biggest fallout fan that I know and I bow down to Bethesda and Interplay for creating a fantastic series. I've played all of the fallout games, even Brotherhood of Steel on PS2. So I mean it when I say that Fallout: New Vegas is, in ranking, the 4th worst and the 4th best. Don't get me wrong it's still a very good game but it has issues. Gameplay in New Vegas is a bit similar to Fallout 3's gameplay but with a few added features. You can play from either a 3rd or 1st person perspective and explore this huge open world that is the Mojave Wasteland. You will find tons of stuff to do in the wasteland and it's probbly the 2nd biggest Fallout game, considering content (behind Fallout 2.) It adds a hardcore mode which turns the game into a surrvival game where you need to drik, eat, limbsdon't heal automatically but instead heal over time, doctor's bags are the only things that can heal limbs. I really like the addition of the hardcore mode and I find it a shame that they cut it out of fallout 4. So aside from that change the gameplay is the same as Fallout 3 however it crashed more than Fallout did and it has more glitches than Fallout 3 did and this happened on a regular basis around once an hour which is probably my biggest complaint about the game. Bethesda please patch this. The story in New Vegas is that you're a courier who was delivering a package only for a guy to come over, shoot you in the head and leave you for dead. But, you're patched up by a doctor of a local settlement and you then set out to find the guy wh shot you and take back your package. Yes, this story has been done quite a few times but the story changes partway through and feels like one of the most epic stuff I've ever done. I'm not going to spile anything though, all I'm ging to say is it changes about 5 quests in. So the opening plot isn't good but the second plot is amazing. Also, like other Fallout games, you can meander off and do side quests but I tend to not do that as I prefer to get the main quest out of the way so there's nothing to get in my way. Grahics are good but could easily be better. It deffinately looks like a wasteland and everything looks like what it's meant to be but all I'm going to say is thank god the modders stepped in. Sound is amazing. If you're wandering around the wasteland in the evening, you can hear crickets and wildlife and in the morning you can hear crows, people socialising and all sorts. There isn't much need for replay value as you won't be able to start again due to you still being busy discovering new things in the wasteland. For example, this game has been out since 2010 and I just discovered 3 weeks ago, a deathclaw camp which I never knew abou before and wsas on for a solid 40 minutes fighting them with my 2 followers (Boone and ED-E.) You will easily sink over 200 hours into this (I played this on PS3 before that's why there isn't as much hours on my account) I highly reccomend Fallout New Vegas even if you've touched a video game. It's a great western, a great open world game and a great RPG and an OK survival game (in hardcore mode.)

When I heard that my favourite point and click game of all time was being given a director's cut edition I jumped out my chair and cheered. I have tons of memories playing the original Broken Sword game on PC. So what was the Director's Cut version like? The best I can say is "It was good" It didn't really give me what I was hoping it would give. One thing that it added from the original game which is probably my favourite addition is that it adds Nico as a playable character and she was just a major character in the original. Aside from that there wasn't really much more of a reason for me to play it a second time through. I like most of the new changes that it gives this game like the hint system. But I'm thinking of one thing in particular, one change that I was annoyed about and that was the goat puzzle. This puzzle that was in the original broken sword was called as one of the hardest puzzles in a video game and it took me a week to figure out that puzzle and I felt amazing after I finally solved it. But in the Director's cut they simplified the puzzle. I'm not sure why revolution would do this. I don't think it needed to be simplified because of the newly added hint system, if players struggled with the puzzle they could just ask the hint system for help. One other problem I have with this Director's cut is that I can tell the difference between the audio that's been taken from the original game and the audio that has been recorded just for the director's cut because the director's cut audio sounds more clear and the audio that has been put into the director's cut from the original game sounds a bit more static. This makes some of the audio sound out of place and some of the new audio is done by different voice actors. Aside from that I do like the director's cut but I only recommend it to people who haven't played the original as there isn't really that much new to offer to people who played the original.
