Title: You don't by a cheeseburger and expect them to deliver you a salad. How people can vehemently disparage this game and recommend games like Battefield 1 is beyond my comprehension. Reading so many negative reviews almost makes me feel bad for having fun while playing this game. I'm 22 years old, have played just about all of the highest rated video games out there, and yet I'm still finding enjoyment in this game. It's NOT bad. Has anyone giving this a 0,1, or 2 ever played a bad game? They are definitely out there, thousands and thousands of software worse than this, and yet they score higher. Why is this? I have to believe that many of the people leaving low scores on this site never gave the game a chance, and want to draw people towards the games they pre-ordered and purchased instead, justifying their choice of one of the three big FPS titles (four including Destiny). A lot of people also choose to relate this game to the other CoD titles; comparing to the other CoD titles is ok when listing similarities and differences, but is that really a justification for such a low score? Not everyone has played ALL of the previous titles, so it seems more realistic to judge this as a standalone title, especially since it is not a sequel to any of the previous games in any sense of the word. If you come in expecting a different formula, referring to the simplified multiplayer, zombies, and action-movie hand-holding linear campaign, then you will be disappointed, and your negative experience is almost entirely your fault. This is why: You don't by a cheeseburger and expect them to deliver you a salad. You don't order a Call of Duty title and expect Fallout. or Overwatch. or the classic Battlefields. or whatever. The above is mostly rant, although that line about the cheeseburger is spot on ;) Now for the real critique: IW by itself offers a ton of content for your $60 price tag, but unless you have no idea how sales or offers at places like Amazon, Gamestop, Ebay, or Steam work, you should not be paying that full $60. A more realistic price for this game is $40 by itself. For example, by using several Gamestop promotions, I obtained the Legacy Pro edition for around $30 (retail price at $120). It has an adrenaline-fueled campaign with space combat, dog-fights, and lots and lots of big bad military enemies to shoot. It offers an interesting but familiar take on the classic zombies mode with an overwhelming amount of easter-eggs, and a multiplayer with fun game modes such as Defender (my favorite), Frontline, and the classic Domination, TDM, FFA, etc. The maps are colorful and lane'd in a way that provides controlled flanking, the spawns aren't incredibly useless, and the guns are mostly balanced (you don't see everyone using 1 particular gun). My biggest issue with the multiplayer is the gun variants that offer perks and stat-boosts, although they give several ways to obtain these, and they aren't game-breaking improvements. The campaign offers a hub-world hybrid on a big ship where you can walk around the ship and choose your next mission (there are even side-missions, which is always interesting). There's some moments of emotion, hyper-unrealistic points of climax, witty military banter, everything you'd expect in a space-war campaign. You'll enjoy it if you don't take it too seriously. I did find myself laughing at many of the "serious" parts, and that makes me like it even more. TL The campaign is cheesy, the multiplayer and zombies are essentially recycled with updated visuals, pace changes, guns, and game modes; but that doesn't make it a bad game. 8/10 for me, I'll go have fun now. no regrets.

Batman: Arkham Knight10
Aug 12, 2015
So call me a liar. Tell me I'm playing on console and not PC. Tell me I'm not a true member of the PC Master Race. You can say all those things, but one thing is true for me: Arkham Knight works. At least on my PC, which can be replicated for about $600 during newegg sales. I have an AMD R9 280 w/ 3 GB VRAM and an AMD FX 6100, OC to 4 GHz. I run the game on a standard HDD, not an SSD. I only have 8 GB RAM, and it's not anything fancy, like that new DDR4 stuff. Even with a bottleneck processor, I can run this game at a solid 30 fps at High Settings, and with those specs, that's not too bad... Not too bad at all. May it's because I wasn't expecting to be able to run the game at 60 fps anyways. I wasn't expecting to be able to run the game at all! I got ahold of it after all the terrible reviews, complaints, and cry-outs. I ignored this 1.7 (at the time of review) user score and the negative steam reviews, and let me tell you, it was worth it. If you have a system like mine and don't mind using key-sites (g2a, kinguin), go ahead and pick up a copy and see for yourself if it will run. I still get the occasional stutters and there are some animation bugs, but that's to be expected out of a relatively massive open Arkham City, which looks amazing, might I add. Oh, and the game is quite good, especially if you liked Arkham City. Much better than Origins. This rating of 10 is to tell some of you that there are working copies, and this is playable, even if it is a rarity. I'm sorry that it didn't work for you, but there is a chance, and there should be a patch, just be patient. Warner Bros also has Mad Max to worry about.

+ Very impressive game with super-smooth graphics -- shows off amazing physics on an iOS engine -- hopefully a graphical and performance doorway to more complicated, good-looking games on iOS. x Only issue is that you must restart if you do not pay for the game, so it gets really repetitive. I assume this goes away with the purchase of checkpoints. While I do not generally like this, I understand the business model.

A super-enjoyable and very simplistic platformer for the iOS -- very well polished with smooth gameplay, with a leveling system that will keep you coming back to improve your character. In App purchases are simply unnoticeable to those who like to avoid them. An excellent time-waster for long car-rides or periods of no wi-fi -- definitely worth meager the $0.99.

The only thing this competitive game has that compares to call of duty is it's FPS aspect and a few of the guns. Otherwise, it's an upgrade to the original Counter Strike, 1.6, and source with a few additional game modes and better graphics. What I like about this game above it's predecessors is it's offline bots. The dedicated fans that have been playing CS for multiple years makes the online multiplayer very difficult (which is a good thing). So, what I like about this game is the offline bot mode, which allows people who buy this game to enjoy a little pwnage (or challenge when they crank up the difficulty to veteran) when they can't get it online. Also, everyone has an equal chance, not thrown off by prestiging or leveling up, which adds balance.Overall, it's a fun, challenging, and addicting game -- I'd recommend it to all gamers! Especially those who enjoy a good FPS.

I'm going to make this review as fast as the gameplay in Nexuiz: Fast-paced, addicting gameplay, amazing graphics, small player-base. Since the player-base can't be helped, the concept gets a 7/10.

Free to play? Yes. Is it fun? Yes. Is it easy to play with another person sitting in the room? Perhaps, if you are both higher levels. Is it the best Free MMORPG that I've played? Not really. But... What I noticed first about this game was it's scenery. I absolutely love the artistic work that went into the backgrounds, especially in the menu. Next, leveling up is a breeze for the first 70 levels, so that's a plus. The gameplay can be customized to be very casual or involved, depending on your style. It auto-routes everything, so you don't have to get lost while traveling across this massive world. It also allows you to auto-potion, which pretty much ensures that you won't die unless you take on an opponent beyond your skills (which I have done, lol). There's also an auto-combat feature that allows you to focus more on the task at hand than fighting annoying creatures that stand in your way. It also helps you gain a lot of exp. One final thing: you DON'T HAVE TO BUY stuff to enjoy this game!!! It is truly a Free To Play! I'm currently level 58 (which is still actually pretty low) and I had no struggle getting there, and no pressure or grief from other players who chose to buy the starter pack or add-ons. MY main complaint is that it only allows a fixed overview that cannot be expanded. I'm used to City of Heroes, which allowed a third person view of the character. In WoTI, you can't always see enough of the environment, which is really a shame because it is so 'pretty.' Overall, any mmorpg fan should try this out. It's free on Steam and worth a few hours to get to level 50. There's more than enough to keep even advanced players busy for a long time!

Call of Duty: Black Ops II8

Looks like I'm going to have to jump in here and help out this score as much as I can. Before I start, let me say that I've only played the game a little with my friend, so I couldn't get that much of a feel for it. But I am going to base it off of what I've seen so far, which is the full campaign and several hours of multiplayer. First of all, let's stop comparing this to MW3. The two are not truly comparable. Second, let's look at what makes a game good: Depth, replayability, completeness... The story line was excellent, as it gives you a chance to make your own choices, which is new to a CoD campaign. It avoids the complexity of an RPG, which is what the cod series has done on purpose to focus more on multiplayer. The zombies is more complicated than ever, which adds a challenge, but I think another kino map is needed with less complexity just to balance it out (for those who liked to run in circles until round 100). Next, replayability: the game has infinite replayability on multiplayer: even if the playerbase ends in 10 or so years, a person can still play against AI in combat mode. Ok. Let's look at the multiplayer. Gamers need to keep an open mind: I like to explain the gameplay like a cross between BO1 and Homefront. The lower but still good scorestreaks are decently easy to get, so everyone can feel good when they play, and the better players can go for the higher scorestreaks while forced to play the objective to do so, since more points are given for doing that than just being a mercenary. The pick 10 create-a-class is an ingenius addition alone -- one of the best they could have made. The maps are decently balanced as far as I've seen. Completeness: Obviously, the developers could have spent more time on it, but the fans demand so much in so little time, that I think that they delivered what they could in relatively excellent quality. If you look at this like a standalone game without prequels, then it's pretty darn good. Let's keep in mind that call of duty is a revolutionary concept, and this game truly added to the original while keeping a lot of it's aspects. Let's not be so harsh - go hate on other games that have real problems and not just (pardon the term) 'nooby' players.

This is a great Diversion and a fun, quick, casual game made to only cost $1.00 on steam ;) I've actually played it for a little more than an hour, trying to get perfects on all the castles, and I will probably play for an additional hour trying to do the same. I have no complaints about the graphics, since the artwork is excellent, but the controls can mess you up a few times. Quick premise: You are a knight and you have to basically walk in straight lines while creating shapes to capture land and surround a castle while being chased by dragons that you need to capture. The castle also has cannons that shoot at you. The controls include either the mouse or the keyboard. I use the mouse and find myself missing a connection point and getting killed by dragons because I didn't encircle them completely. That's my only complaint. For $1.00, it's a must try, and it's a better investment than a bottle of pop. My rating is based off of the fact that the game is $1.00, not that it is comparable to Call of Duty or any other higher rated game.

Cute. That's what it is. Manly. That's also what it is. It's great for all ages of gamers. Little kids can play, and us older guys don't have to hear them over the Mics ;) Older guys can attempt to quick scope and shoot bazookas and demolish other toy figures. There's a training mode that's fun to try to get to the final wave and there's a ranking system that allows for an addictive multiplayer mode. As of 2012, it has more than enough servers to keep a person busy. It also has smooth graphics that run on most PCs (including my lower-end laptop) so people of all PCs can play! It's really easy to get used to and there are a lot of game modes to keep you busy. It's lacking in variety, I suppose, but that's why it's a free game. For a free game, it's fun, and that's all that matters, lol. Go ahead and download it and try it out. I won't be playing it addictively, but it will be a fun alternative to the intense CoD that I usually play :D

Portal10
Aug 20, 2012
We all must keep in mind that this game was hidden behind TF2 and HL2 in the orange box, and yet, it still managed to make a name for itself and generate an enormous fanbase. Valve, once again, delivered an excellent and original idea when coming up with the revolutionary 'portal gun.' This game wasn't necessarily meant to be stand-alone, so those people who are saying that it's too short, keep that in mind. Also remember that it's only $10 dollars at the most, and that's $10 dollars well spent! I bought it on sale and wish I would have payed more. It's a puzzle that makes you think and provides a little clever humor. So, of course, I give this a 10, because I feel that it was one of the most original ideas and revolutionary designs of it's time, and it set up for an interesting and intriguing sequel. And while most games are $50 upwards nowadays and some hang around $20 for up to 5-7 years after their release, Portal is $10 dollars and is affordable fun for those of us who have low-end PCs and don't want to spend too much money. That's just another positive towards this amazing game.

Wii Music7
Aug 20, 2012
I got this game for my birthday and, after seeing the commercials, I was excited. I am a musician and can appreciate the mindless music making found in this game. It requires almost no skill to play a mediocre song, so my family, including my parents, were able to play and enjoy this game. I've gotten a lot of laughs out of this game with friends and family, so I believe that Miyamoto accomplished something there. I believe the point of these Wii (INSERT NAME HERE) titles was for family fun and casual get-to-know-your-system gaming. In no way is this meant to be a Wii version of guitar hero. One regret I have is the song choice. They could have created some more well-known, popular songs, but I understand where the songs' rights could have gotten in the way. There's room for improvement, but it's decent family fun and good for parties.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 29
Aug 20, 2012
I see a lot of negative user ratings and gasp. I understand why they exist, but people have to have a level of understanding. The campaign took me about 2 hours to complete, and it's exactly the same gameplay as any other Call of Duty Game (You know, you're in a spot and eliminate the enemies, move on, breach a few doors, infiltrate some secret location for intel, etc.). The Spec Ops levels were almost addicting as the player strives for high scores so that they can unlock more levels... At times, both the campaign and spec ops can be extremely frustrating, but once you beat it, it's rather satisfying. The visuals throughout the game are impressive and greatly customizable so that they run on low-end PCs and laptops... But then, there's the multiplayer. This is why people are critical of the game on PC. It's highly addicting and very simple. Many skilled gamers find this worthless and a waste of time, but most gamers like the fact that you can get fast, non-stop action without the use of too much skill. However, as in many PC multiplayer games, there are hackers. This is where many negative reviews come in. The hackers are not the fault of the game itself. It's the people who hack that make the game worse. The game itself deserves a high metascore for being an excellent addition to the series. The hackers deserve the lowest metascore possible. If you wish to enjoy the game without worrying about hackers, get yourself a MW2 Config program (search Google) and backup your stats! And, in reality, only about 1 person in 10 lobbies hacks, so that's 9 good games in a row, then all you have to do is quit the lobby and join another one, and you're set! Overall, this is a great game with intriguing (but Short) Single Player and fun Spec Ops levels along with addictive multiplayer that make any gamer want to strive to achieve the highest level while completing challenges and acquiring prestige. The graphics are good enough so that there is realism to the game but still customizable enough so that the low-end pcs can run this game without a problem. If you are careful, you can have a lot of fun with this game. BACK UP YOUR MULTIPLAYER STATS and you WILL have fun.
