Splatoon 3: Expansion Pass Wave 2 - Side Order9
Oct 27, 2024
The roguelike twist on Splatoon DLC is a nice change to their other single-player styles. The DLC is heavily replayable, however hacks (permanent upgrades offered by the game, not mods that make the game easier) make it almost too easy for more experienced players. The final pallet offers a trickier twist encouraging less hacks, which is great.

Splatoon 310
Oct 27, 2024
I must admit, I have a bit of bias towards this game, it has lots of weapons, maps, abilities, and gear, and has a decent story mode. The lore is extremely deep, but you often have to over-complete single-player, or research it online to see it. Multiplayer has a decent selection of game modes, and X-battles are good for better players. Unfortunately, the game had a shorter-than-hoped lifespan at only two years, and content updates have ceased, so I would not recommend purchasing a copy now. The decision to make matchmaking Peer-to-peer (one player is picked as host randomly, and console connect to the host) was questionable, and causes frequent disconnections.

Minecraft10

Minecraft offers an infinite possibilities of things to do, and an ever-growing amount of content. Some additions are questionable, and the acquisition from Microsoft has unfortunately introduced some widely hated features (I'm speaking to you, chat reporting), but overall some good additions. April Fools updates are well crafted and fun to play. The game gets even more interesting when you install mods, which is made easy by the developers, and large modding community.

Super Mario Odyssey10
Oct 27, 2024
Super Mario Odyssey is a well-crafted game with a nostalgic story combined with a modern twist. The game offers a decent amount of play-time but with large amounts of other moons to collect after the story is finished, and offers a challenging final world to play through. Boss fights are somewhat repetitive, all using the "Nintendo-classic" 3-stage bosses, but have enough different quirks to keep them interesting. Overall, another great game from Nintendo, and well worth the money.
