I imagine this would be worth it with a steep discount, and only if you play coop, buta game being better because friends are there is a pretty cheap compliment, because that is most games
**** claims the game can be done in 5 hours, it can be, but the average time to beat is around 11 hours. Once you've finished the game and go for a speedrun, then yeah, one of the trophies requires you to finish in 3 hours, another, to spend 8 hours in the game, some collectibles are locked to the character so you'll need to finish the game multiple times in order to get all the trophies, should you care about that. Performance is what lowers the score a bit for me, although if you read some of the comments, you would be forgiven for thinking the game is borderline unplayable. Even the critics greatly exaggerate this, maybe there's been a patch since then, but I doubt it, it's just in their overly dramatic nature. Writing is fine, won't blow you away, won't offend either. The graphics are generally not something I care about, though I think you'll agree that most unreal engine games look alike, that's a bit annoying but the level design etc is good, so I enjoyed exploring.
The old Bioware is long gone, I don't even think anyone from the originals remains, this is not dragon age, the tone, doing the 2024 and putting it into a fantasy game...Current Bioware does not have the skill it takes to write these characters
Where's the pause menu? how could such a basic feature be overlooked? Far from larians best game simply because Divinity 2 was a more complete version of this.
Perhaps I'm biased because I had such low expectations, but it's a real solid game. Most elements are well implemented, though the UI could be more suble imo, feels a bit ubisoft-esque, with its information. [Semi spoilers but not really:] Some people have given it a low score because they claim the "twist" is predictable, but it's Harry Potter, since when was it not some silly British schoolchildren story? Predictability doesn't detract from it to be honest, those must be the anti-Rowling crowd that look for any excuse to **** on the game, be it valid or not.
Jesus Christ, people giving this a 10 are not right in the head, even if you're a fan of the franchise, how can you forgive the bad audio mixing alone?
It gets an average 3 because it's fun with friends (then again, that justification wears thin because literally anything can be fun in that case) The gameplay is roughly the same, the only difference you'll spot is the smoother frame rate compared to the others, which is entirely carried by PlayStation's hardware and not really gearbox's doing. The next point might be subjective, but every playable character is pretty boring, they're all hard to like because of how cringe they are. Yes, previous playable characters were goofy, but it's especially jarring this time around. Can be very glitchy at times, but nothing you're not used to if you've played other borderlands Games.
At least you can look at the "critics" reviews and see who is morally bankrupt, spoiler alert: it's all of them, in what world is this microtransaction-ridden, predatory cash grab an 81/100, seriously? They're so disconnected from reality it's almost funny.
Negatives: Not being able to pause cutscenes. The frequent loading screens would not be a problem if they weren't so damn long, often you'll wonder if your console crashed and you have to force-quit or if the bar will eventually progress. It's also pretty bad design to require an input from the player at the end of each of those loading screens. The skill point system, they could have left it out, feels a bit tacked on or maybe a way to get some replay value but I don't think it works. Neutral: the voice acting, I don't want to say it's bad but it's not good either, accompanied with the static first person perspective you're locked in makes dialogue a bit dry. Positives: I liked the graphics
Long loading times, I heard it was worse before the patches but in 2022 there a still quite some performance issues. The concept of the game is interesting though
man, the "game journalists" sure had their copy-pastes ready to go. Did any of them really play the game? it goes further than "inferior controls and graphics" (for the controls it's the most obvious statement ever and for the graphics it's simple untrue) What's more Important here is the ps5 version is straight up missing content, can't modify a CoA, can't even create a custom ruler! Not even talking about mods, (which are obviously missing as well and a big reason why people play on pc) this is supposed to be base game stuff. Other content was carved out to try to sell you the 35€ season pass, of course, some of which has been out for over a year on pc. As someone who played over 1k hours on pc and only a couple on ps5, I got to agree the controls take time to get used to BUT, at the same time I can't see how they could do better with the limitations the studio had, a controller, any strategy game will feel wonky with it. I didn't get the time to get acclimated though because after only a few hours the game crashed. Still giving it a 5 because despite this being a shallow husk, it's still based on a truly great game, easily playable with even a medium tier pc, Which I recommend you pick up instead if you have the choice. edit: if you care about trophies, all are glitched for me, Completed multiple requirements and none have popped. this isn't the case for everybody though.
adding microtransactions after the reviews have gone up, we knew ubisoft were scumbags already, they spent years protecting abusers within its company, some of whom were good friends of CEO Yves Guillemot. A lot of reviews seem to praise the sound which makes me seriously wonder if they've played the game themselves, Valhalla highlights a problem that's been present for most AC games but became so much more noticeable, that being the awful dialogue quality, it's honestly baffling how this makes it though QA ever time but it sounds like all dialogue was recorded in a cave, even when you're out in the open, it's very distracting and sounds like you're listening to a movie though a tin can on a string.
If you like Skyrim, as I do, then don't worry because absolutely nothing has changed (most bugs and exploits are still in the game 2 full console generations and 5 game iterations later, so no worries there). I've looked at some of the "critics" reviews and I've got to say, only the shills will try to spin paid mods into a positive. yes, they do add content, made by fans who likely care more about the game than Bethesda themselves, unfortunately it's still them you'll have to pay for the privilege. Since it's running on Bethesda's spaghetti, bug filled code, the creation club content will sometimes crash, sometimes soft lock, or straight up not work. (I've only downloaded the ones you get with the anniversary edition by default and still ran into this issue). Playstation 5 positives: The only change you will notice isn't brought on by Bethesda, but is the sheer speed of the loading which is entirely made possible by the power of the ssd (I Imagine playing on a high end PC gets you the same experience) There are obviously still loading screens but if you're used to the ps3 and ps4's excruciating loading times where you are on your phone/other monitor every couple of minutes, it's a welcome change.
How can you say something is definitive if it's missing content? Look up the list of missing songs, the amount missing is heart breaking. Soundtrack is a big part of the nostalgia for a lot of people, that on top of all the other bugs and issues and the fact the game really does feel like it was made for mobile, I'd recommend emulating the ps2 version if you're looking to discover the series for the first time.
these scumbags add micro transactions in a 70€ game after the reviews have gone up also, Ubisoft spent years protecting abusers within its company, some of whom were good friends of CEO Yves Guillemot.
I wouldn't mind the glitches or freezing or overall sub par performance so much as the constant crashing, I've played loads of games on ps4 and none were this bad, the amount of times I've had to close the app and restart per play session is insane, couple that with the longest loading screens I've ever witnessed... gives you ample time to think about better games to play at least.
it is technically inferior to WD2, and with a season pass, Ubisoft spits in the face of their customers and expect you to pay 80€ for the privilege, if you respect yourself, don't buy ubisoft games
ok so you can't play with friends AND be the killer wich is pretty lame, its 4v1 and online only but the servers arnt too busy, I wish the added a vs AI mode where you can invite friends and chose who the killer is, could be a fun game if they did
Hard to believe this has the same writers as Part 1 I suppose most of you have played Uncharted? Just imagine, for years you are waiting on the next chapter of Nathan Drake's story, finally it comes out, you buy it day 1 only to realise that you play as Cameraman Jeff's son for 10 hours straight... Who the **** cares, if they wanna do some expanded universe **** like Lost legacy that's great, Chloe is on the box, you expect to play as her, fine. What Part 2 does is straight up lie to the customer. the writing is some forced unnatural bull****, for a franchise that was all about story, no amount of good graphics or gameplay can make up for it.
