ANTONBLAST9

There are a few minor issues I have, but otherwise, I can definitely blame any frustrations I have with this game to my own lacking skills (as it is quite a difficult game compared to Wario Land). With good levels and controls, great visuals, funny sound design, an all-in OST, and an embracement of pure chaos, ANTONBLAST is quite a... blast!

There are definitely some issues with this game. Some padding, and pacing issues are apparent. Regardless, this is still a very solid game, with great combat and story beats.

Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling9

This is an excellent game. This has everything I could want out of a "paper" RPG, with good humor, a great cast (great character development too), an intriguing storyline, interesting NPCs and side quests, and, of course, an engaging and strategic combat system. It also has a well composed soundtrack. I'm glad this one stands on its own, rather than just ripping off its While there are a few bits of room for improvement, such as overworld controls, this is still a great experience, and I plan on playing it more times in the future.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door9

TTYD is just Paper Mario, but even better. Much more bold and interesting storytelling, great characters and worldbuilding. A better battle system, too. Great music, around the quality of Origami King's soundtrack.

The mostly puzzle/fetching 2D gameplay wasn't up my alley. The story is what keeps it up here, as it's the best one in the series, probably even the whole Mario franchise. Mainly for the villains. Also, good music.

Antonball Deluxe5

The game was alright. Not as fun as I had hoped, but it was worth a good try from me. AntonBall is decent enough, PunchBall is actually a bit fun. Haven't replayed it much. Regardless, I'm just glad it was a cheap title. Here's to AntonBlast being an actually good game when it comes out.

A worthy spiritual successor to Super Mario 64. Good platforming and bosses. Good controls and music.

Enjoyed the game quite a lot. The atmosphere is perfection, and there's a ton of creativity all around. My one gripe is with the controls. They significantly made the game less fun to play.

Basically pinnacle Mario Kart. Not the best at everything, but excellent still. Racing is as good as it was in 2014, but Battle mode is far better than on the Wii U.

Pretty good and fun game. Fun levels, good music. Everything you'd expect in a NSMB game. Nothing special though.

Super Mario RPG8

Pretty fun RPG game. It does get a bit easy when you over level (turned to 11 with the exp booster). Pretty good story. Geno and Mallow are great characters as well. Though I didn't really use Peach at all until I fought the challenge boss.

Paper Mario9

As a new player, this game was great. Good fightingmechanics, good dialogue and story, good "dungeons". It could have been better, especially in the difficulty level, but nevertheless a great start to the series, being fun nearly all of the time. It hypes me for its sequel's remake (which I never could play, not having a GCN).

Mario Kart 648

Objectively, it doesn't age particularly well, but this game just hits the spot for me. The simple style, solid track design, numerous glitched shortcuts, oddly satisfying drift mechanics, and synth-based OST make it a fun time. But battle mode is amazing!

Super Mario 649

Just a great game in nearly every way. Great controls (which is #1 to make a platformer great imo), colorful design, a banger soundtrack (Bob Omb Battlefield, water level, LLL/SSS theme, and Bowser fight {1 & 2} music are particularly good. Most of the levels are a good time, except for Dire Dire Docks and Rainbow Ride, which are pretty useless. Some of the stars were pointless too. Other than that, it was basically perfect.

This is a short, fun RPG. I like the dodging and action commands, as well as using multiple characters at the same time. It's got a simple, but interesting plot with funny moments.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom9
Jan 30, 2024
Basically, it's Breath of the Wild, but a lot better. There's so much more to do in TotK. Two brand new areas to explore, on top of the original map being made a new experience again. The side quests are more fun as well. Combat has quality of life improvements. The hand abilities are a lot better than BotW's shekiah slate powers. Ultrahand lets me mess around in all kinds of new ways, like driving across large stretches of land, and kill monsters in new ways. Fuse fixed the weapon durability problem. There is one weakness in gameplay: the sage abilities are more gimmicky and less practical (exception being the wind one). The story is an improvement over BotW (mainly due to the tear memories, rather than Link's own quest) but still a bit lacking. The dungeons are decent, with proper elemental themes returning, as well as unique bosses (rather than the boring Blight Ganons in BotW). The finale is pure greatness, and Ganondorf has had his best showing to date.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder8
Jan 30, 2024
Pretty solid fun. This game has very good level design, creative wonder effects, as well as a unique artstyle and great music. Badges are also a fun feature. The terrible timer is also gone, thank goodness. Just a few issues. Only some badges are actually fun to use, the bosses are pretty boring, and the game is generally too easy.

Pizza Tower10
Jan 30, 2024
Pizza Tower manages to stand out from the pack in nearly every way. The 90s Cartoon Network artstyle gives it a distinct identity compared to recent hyperrealistic games, or lower resolution pixel art from many other indie titles. The standout, epic OST makes the game all the more exciting. Way of the Pig, Tropical Crust, and Extraterrestrial Wahwahs are highlights, and they're simply ordinary level themes! Pizza Tower is tightly designed, with little/no filler. Peppino's controls and movement are difficult to learn, but fun and versatile when you master them. Taunts doubling as a parry is quite a cool choice. All the levels are fun, with constant fast paced action, and fun, innovative gimmicks. There is lots of replayability too. Each level has 3 secrets with their own mini-challenge, as well as a treasure. Most of all, it's about getting the perfect rank. It's very fun, though sometimes frustrating (though it's always my own skill issue rather than the game being unfair). The 5 bosses are also a blast, especially for platformer standards.
The Noise update provided a new, fun challenge that incentivized me to play the game all over again. Another great moveset, perhaps even more satisfying than Peppino's. There were plenty of hilarious surprises, and more great music.
