Pokemon Legends: Z-A0
Oct 19, 2025
Z-A suffers from the same issues every Pokemon game does: a cookie cutter, uninspired narrative, zero difficulty, and graphics that look decades old. Replacing the tried-and-true turn-based combat with a real time system that feels incredibly awkward and uncompetitive was the last thing they should've done to the series. They will keep feeding us slop if we keep opening our mouths wide for it. That this game has the same metascore as Digimon: Time Stranger, an infinitely better game doing everything Pokemon should've done, is a crime.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard9
Nov 2, 2024
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a fun, focused, and well-polished RPG. Like one Baldur's Gate 3 developer said, "it feels like the first Dragon Age game to truly know what it wants to be." It's a bit like the Mass Effect 2 of Dragon Age. It might be more action-based, but it feels like a natural evolution of the series, not a path they forced themselves onto like what happens with other devs. It also has major Kingdoms of Amalur vibes, which was a fantastic action-RPG with some big names behind it that was overshadowed by Skyrim when it released. It had a very similar art style that set it apart from other titles chasing hyper realism, the combat was ultra smooth, and you could build your character in a variety of ways using three main classes. The Veilguard might not reach the same narrative heights as the greatest RPGs, but it doesn't need to in order to take the title of the best game in the series. If you're an RPG fan, you shouldn't miss out on this.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth7

Unnecessary combat and story changes to the original title, an uninspired open world design, and an endless stream of unbalanced torture chambers called mini games combine to create an incredibly overrated disappointment and a shining example of what remakes and open world games shouldn't be.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth10
Jan 28, 2024
With Infinite Wealth, RGG has proven, among other things, that turn-based RPGs have infinite potential and that there is a serious demand for them. While Square Enix decided to abandon the genre that made them popular, RGG decided to take that torch and run away with it, while continuing to make the type and quality of games they were known for, so they have my respect. It's the first time the series has left Japan and I'm so glad they chose Hawaii because I love tropical settings. The game functions as a sendoff for longtime protagonist Kiryu and it features some moments of real time combat that old fans will appreciate, while expanding and improving on everything that made Yakuza 7 great. There's an Island Management side game that reminds me of Dark Cloud 2's georama system, a Pokemon-esque game that has you collecting and battling convicts, a crazy taxi game, and much more. But even if you don't do any of the side content, you'll be satisfied with a story even more epic and dramatic than any that came before, with characters you won't forget.

My score would've been 8-9 but I'm countering unfair scores. This game isn't as bad as some people say it is. You can't factor server issues into a review score because that's not judging the game itself. The only real negative is how derivative it is, and some may not even see it as a negative. The execution is what's important, and while the game isn't breaking the mold, it's probably gonna be the best looter shooter we have for awhile.

Your friendly remind that the user score does not reflect the average experience. The negative voices are always the loudest because the rest of us are busy playing the game. I can't fathom how people did not expect some bugs on launch in one of the most ambitious games ever created. CDPR has knocked it out of the park once again.

Square Enix strikes the perfect balance between honoring the original and opening it up for newcomers. On social media you might hear people saying that this isn't a "complete" game but that couldn't be further from the truth. This is a genuine masterpiece. There are some muddy textures that catch you off guard, but I'm sure they will be fixed soon.

It's very deceiving at first glance. I expected a very shallow Voxel knock-off, but this game blew me away. Building AND Exploring MMO? It's all I ever wanted. Plus, you will never discover all the different community-created Head, Face, and Weapon skins you unlock as you pick up loot and drop it in your "loot collector". You have this "cornerstone"(house) which you can build and bring to you by activating pre-set areas of land all over the world. Super-fun, Definitely recommend it. The only annoyance is there's only 3 pieces of equipment, and only 3 spells to use on each class. But you can customize the equipment and the spells usually work together so it's not too irksome, though I do hope somewhere down the line we see them expand one of these areas to give the game more complexity. Keep in mind that this score is not taking into account the long wait times when it first came out. It's pretty much impossible for online games to have a good start as far as servers go, because developers don't want to expand servers just for the initial rush and then have all of this leftover server capacity when people lose interest over time.

Sony. If you are reading this, please. Everyone wants a sequel/remake. Do it. Do it if you want the money of everyone who enjoys a good RPG. Seriously, this game is like Final Fantasy on crack. You actually have to pay attention while you're attacking or the attack fails. Incredibly addictive and the story **** me in for sure.

It has the holy trinity of fun turn-based gameplay, approachable, intuitive design, and pure nostalgia. What's not to love? You can add characters from different games to your team which is great. There is a stamina gauge, which I assume stops you from continuing with the game, but it refills quickly and has never run out for me. Any fan of the traditional Final Fantasy titles will fall in love.

Fire Emblem: Awakening10

Now this is one of those niche-type games, but don't let that discourage you if you're new to the games. They have made Fire Emblem more accessible than ever with Awakening. If you're familiar with the genre, don't worry about the changes this game makes to battles. I was worried at first but pairing up and picking supports is like a puzzle and is good fun. It's also quite the challenge on classic hard mode. Overall, it's one of my top 3 video games and couldn't think of any better strategy game.

From time to time I would dust off my ps2 and play these 2 games. They nailed the remaster and everything looks beautiful. Not to mention the integrity of FFX's story won't ever become outdated. I cannot wait to put another 100+ hours into them. My favorite RPGs just got better.

Just like the other GTAs, I got bored of this after messing around using cheats(the best part of the game), seeing the highest points of the game and being disappointed. Driving cars is the best part and that's not executed as well as other games do.
