A fun action-packed adventure ride that is way too shallow and short. The story and characters are interesting, but they never really get expanded much at all. The game play and weapons are top notch, running along walls sticking a group of enemies with gravity star grenade, then kicking a guy out off a cliff and power sliding between two guys head shotting both, then going invisible to stealth assassinate the last scared guy is pure enjoyment, not to mention the cool titans. The way that wall running is used to get around in the environment is fun. The biggest problem with the game is it is way too short and only took three and a half hours to finish my first time on regular (shorter than Halo 3: ODST). Overall, a really fun shooter that has interesting lore, worlds, and characters, but no will or want to actually use them to make a great game or masterpiece.
After 156 hours I completed Elden Ring along with about 95% of the character side quests and all optional and main bosses. This game has one of the best worlds to explore I've ever seen in any game I have played; the visuals are spectacular and not one single inch feels wasted. One of my favorite things about this game is every weapon and spell looks cool but also feel viable to the point you can pretty much make any build you want. This game is the peak of From Software's design in Dark Souls in giving freedom to the players to play however they want. The fluid combat and the added ability to jump add to the great experience of fighting and exploring in this game. The games story like other soul's games is very obscure but also very rich if you are willing to look for it. The characters are mostly good, but I felt they could have done more with certain ones. Most main game bosses feel and look very cool and are fun to fight. Some people don't like the reuse of enemies throughout the game but overall, I think they did a good job of making them unique to the areas you fight them and the powers they use, making them feel like new enemies. Difficulty wise Elden Ring is probably the 2nd easiest soul's game with Dark Souls 2 being the easiest. With 85 deaths in Elden Ring total, 46 of which were due to Malenia leaving 39 from the rest of the game compared to, 38 deaths in Dark Souls 1, 55 deaths in Dark Souls 3, and 9 deaths in Dark souls 2 (DS2 just felt extremely easy). One problem I had was Malenia and her being able to use her waterfowl dance 5 times in the span of a 2 minutes using it every other attack, if I could change one thing, I would give that move a 60 second cool down after she uses it. Overall, Elden Ring has slight issues with difficulty balancing but they are so small that it doesn't change how amazing this game is.
Finished the game and did all the side quests with a few achievements left to get at 57 hours of play time. This game did an amazing job of bringing to life the world of Harry Potter that many people grew up with in the books and movies. The characters in this game are amazing each one feels like they have a role to play in the world with absolutely no wasted potential even if you have only seen them once. The combat is simple but very fun and makes you feel great juggling and destroying enemies with tons of cool combinations with spells. The story and side stories are great near the end it really felt like I was playing 4 different interesting stories even after the end of the main story. The crafting system is nice but could be improved. The game does a great job of giving the player choice from choosing their house to creating a room of requirement or how the place that they keep their beasts looks. There is a lack of enemy variety and that does get a little boring. Another thing is the Merlin trials feel a bit too numerous, as well as the treasure vaults which would have been better if they had been fewer in number and more complex with actual loot worth getting. The world is great when it loads, a large number of times it would take 5 minutes for stuff to load in which I've never had happen in any game I played. Overall, this game it great and nails the harry potter school student experience that I love in the movies but could be improved gameplay wise.
Finally finished and played Bioshock 1 for the first time, The story and characters are all great. The levels have great atmosphere but could have been better designed to feel less repetitive. The combat in this game is super fun and satisfying, also the different powers and abilities give you tons of ways to playthrough things again and again. The hacking system in this game is perfect in my opinion it is actually fun and takes a little skill. The enemies do get slightly stale after a while and could have used maybe 2 more types of splicers and 1 more type of Big daddy. Overall it is a great game but I don't think it is perfect. This game needs a remake it would be amazing especially after seeing Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 4, and Dead space.
Just Finished my first blind playthrough of Dark Souls 2 and the DLCs after 68 hours, all i can say is wow... this is both the easiest and most unfair souls game at the same time. The story in this game is extremely simple and is not really that complex. The Characters you meet are actually really interesting and unique but also feel like wasted potential that could have been used for more side quests. The level design is not that great very few places in the main game stick out to me or are just frustrating. Majula, tower of flame, Dragon Aerie, Dragon Shrine, and Iron Keep only places that I liked aesthetically, however Iron Keep had an annoying level design and enemy placement. The DLC had three cool areas in Shulva, Brume Tower, and Eleum Loyce the last of which was also annoying to traverse twice. The other problem with most areas in Dark Souls 2 is they lack scale and a feeling of largeness. Probably the worst thing about this game is the bosses 90% of them feel the same or are just bad. Most bosses just have one big sweep attack like The Last Giant, Dragon Rider, Ruin Sentinels, Lost Sinner, and more or they reuse an area of effect burst like the Smelter Demons and The Rotten or they just throw a bunch of enemies at you like Skeleton Lords, Freja, Royal Rat Vanguard and Authority, and more. The game has only a few good Bosses that feel good and are challenging like The Pursuer, Executioner's Chariot, Looking Glass Knight, Velstadt, Fume Knight, Sir Alonne, and The Burnt Ivory King, only four of these are main game bosses. Another bad thing about the bosses is how almost every boss has some dumb gimmick that is supposed to help you with fighting them and is cool a few times but for most of the fights it is annoying or a waste of time. One the best things about Dark Souls 2 is all the different weapons and builds you can do which makes combat fun. The new mechanics hurt Dark Souls 2 more than they help it agility was a horrible addition and affects the game to much making it hard if you don't upgrade and too easy if you do. The torch mechanic was bad and made the game harder for no reason even if it was cool from time to time. Power stancing and dual wielding in this game is one of the best mechanics in a souls game. The combat is overall enjoyable but is slightly ruined by the terrible hitboxes of every enemy and boss in the game. I only died 9 times, 3 were to bow traps and the well in Majula, 2 were to the toxic rats in Doors of Pharros, only 4 felt legit to The Pursuer, Fume Knight, and once in Brume Tower. This is the easiest souls game funny enough, compared to 38 deaths in DS1, 55 deaths in DS3, and Elden Ring with 85 deaths (46 to Malenia so 39 rest of the game). In the end this is a mediocre game it's got the challenge and fun combat of a souls game with barely any good bosses, small feeling areas with no scale, mostly bad mechanics, a shallow story, wasted characters, and terrible hitboxes. Without the DLC this game is not good and I would give it a 4, but with the DLC it makes it slightly better even though the DLC makes similar mistakes with some of the bosses but also bring in some of the best along with cooler bigger areas to explore which bring it to a 6.
Empty, unfinished game with terrible pacing between the open world parts and the linear missions. This combined with terrible characters and a nonsensical incomplete story would make it a bad game if it didn't have one redeeming quality. This one redeeming quality is the gun play and upgrades given to the player which make the game fun for a little bit until you realize how repetitive all the side quests, main story missions, and boss fights are. Overall it is a mediocre game slightly better than Halo 5 only due to the fun gun-play and the interesting but empty open world section.
Dark Souls 3 is a great game the story surrounding the world is amazing and fun to figure out. The characters all have a purpose that contributes to the overarching story. The levels while linear are still fun to playthrough and explore. The environments are gorgeous and have a sense of scale that make your journey feel epic. The combat is amazing and extremely rewarding once you get use to it. The weapons and armor are great, but the build diversity is slightly lacking in this game compared to Dark Souls 2. The bosses in this game are the best overall of any of the souls games most are challenging and fun, some have gimmicks which is okay, and one or two throw multiple enemies which is fine since it feels different. Overall, just a really good game and probably the most consistent souls game of them all with something for everyone.
This is a great game, was the easiest souls game of the series until I played Elden Ring and Dark Souls 2. The game play can take some getting used to but the fun thing about it is you can play any way you want. This games level design is magnificent and gives the player the freedom to choose whatever direction they want to go in. The story in this game is rewarded to players willing to explore and look for it. The bosses are cool and most boss fights are fair except for one very frustrating one. Overall, it's a great game that is shaped by how people choose to play it.
L.A. Noire is an interesting game; the individual cases are all really fun to play through. The overarching story could have been better toward the end but is ok. All of the individual characters are great and well voice acted. The gameplay is somewhat stiff and has some frustrating moments, these include the driving mechanics and gun play. One of the unique things about this game was the ability to play as a detective and use clues and facial expression to try and solve cases and determine suspects. The frustrating thing about this game is that all the clues and dialogue options don't always make sense to the current situation the player is in, or multiple clues link to the suspect but only one is right. This frustrating system does drag the game down a bit. Another problem is if you go to certain places before others, you will miss evidence due to this which is a horrible design. The open world is faithfully designed and looks cool, but it is vastly empty with just a bunch of hidden stuff for people to find like I SPY. Overall, this game has a lot of great ideas that seem not completely complete any of them. The ending of the story is very disappointing not because of how it ends but because there should have been more. After 100% completion I think it's still a fun game to playthrough and figure out what is going on, it just could be done better especially if another game like it is made today.
Just finished and 100% the game for the first time, The world and characters in this game are amazing and fun to watch, the story is a slow burn with some low boring part, but that gets better over time, and I really enjoyed it in the second half of the game. The parkour system and maps are good when they work properly and make progressing through levels feel fun for the most part. The lightsaber customization is really cool especially at a late end game part, however the clothing customization was disappointing because all the ponchos look dumb, so I never used them. There were some issues where traversing through areas became annoying due to the controls not responding or interacting with the environment like they should. Also, one map felt confusing and hard to traverse on the planet Dathomir and was frustrating but saved by the cool story progression. The combat is simplistic and fun as you progress and learn new skills and moves but could be better and more complex. The combat and story remind me of Witcher 3 where the combat felt weird at first and the game felt boring and stale at the beginning but then both got better and better the further you go. In this there are some low points in story and flaws in map design along with some janky feeling in combat and exploration. Overall, this game is a solid good game with amazing worlds and exploration, a cool story and characters, and simple but fun combat with room for improvement.
A solid game, has a good story, good characters, fun level designs, interesting new gear compared to previous games, and beautiful music, but a slight step down from Halo 2 overall. Weapons have even less feel of power behind them than in Halo 2 and the changes to the flood from previous two games made them seem like soft sponges. The story and characters were overall good but did feel a little cheesy at moments but nothing that should bother anyone. Had great moments that really brought out emotions and made you care about the characters. Has a great ending and is a good send off to the original trilogy.
The only reason I'm giving this game a 6 out of 10 is because of how ridiculously short it is which is a shame. This game has the most unique atmosphere of any Halo game and sexy music. This game has awesome characters and a great silent protagonist that make you feel like part of the game, along with a good mystery like story to boot. It has an interesting open world exploration idea with audio logs that lead to a cool ending and tell an enthralling story that makes you want to find them all (way better than Halo infinite). The main flaw with this game is it is only 4-5 hours long even if you explore everything, which **** especially being 60 bucks when it first came out. It also took away the battle rifle that was in Halo 3 for no real reason limiting your weapon pool. This game could have been way better than it was with a few more mission levels and a bigger more interactive city to explore with side quests and civilians fighting the covenant sadly that did not happen.
A good game that was obviously rushed and put out before it was ready, this is evident by how unbalanced the combat is with enemies, the abrupt ending, and shorter cut up levels compared to Halo: CE. That being said it has great music, amazing characters, good story, and solid level design. My only other gripe with this game is the weapons don't feel as hefty when you shoot them like Halo: CE and they got rid of the assault rifle, but dual wielding is nice, overall felt it was a step down from Halo: CE.
This game shows how the original Call of Duty Modern Warfare trilogy is the model of consistency bringing a cool action-packed story with kick ass characters and fun environments and weapons. The only thing I wish they would change is making the story last longer than 6 hours cause all the modern warfare games feel a little too short. This game was a little disappointing due to the setup from the previous game, but it still manages to deliver a great experience and a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. Trying to understand all of the bad reviews for this game >.>
...Same as the 2014 remaster of the 2013 version except with even better graphics. Overall, this feels like a forced unnecessary remake because the game play is just as clunky the 2013 and 2014 and not as refined as in The Last of Us Part 2. It just feels like they made this game just to rename it with part 1 in the title because the majority of people didn't like part 2 and they wanted to rub it in those people's faces who just want to play the original The Last of Us and pretend part 2 doesn't exist. Overall, still a great game but I recommend just playing the remastered 2014 version cause this one just feels unnecessary and overpriced.
Same as the original with improved graphics and frame rate as well as a cool photo mode for taking pictures of the amazing world. Overall, great game you should experience at least once.
An amazing game with an enthralling story and characters. This game does an amazing job of storytelling from beginning to end using environments and atmosphere to amplify character interactions. Pretty much every character seen has an emotional impact on the player in one way or another. The gameplay is mostly good scavenging for supplies while exploring scary or dangerous areas can feel really rewarding especially with all the craftable gear. The gun play and fighting can feel slightly clunky at time, also the stealth mechanic can also be annoying when enemies somehow spot you through walls leading to unwarranted deaths. The slight inconvenience in the gameplay doesn't ruin it and it is still fun to play. Overall, it is just an amazing game to playthrough and experience especially the first time.
The story in this game is really unrealistic especially in the choices characters make. Speaking of the characters they are almost all one dimensional with the exception of Ellie, the characters never really change or react to anything other than to further the shallow plot of the story. The game play should and would be fun if it wasn't for the terrible plot making most players like me not want to even see what happens next. This game has a nice world that could have been fun to explore if the terrible story wasn't dragging it through the dirt. Overall, this game is more like a two due to the world and game play, but it gets a zero in my book just because it shouldn't even be anything above a two on Metacritic due to just how sickeningly bad the story and characters are. This is not just a bad game this is an example of ignorance and bigotry in video game form.
This game... has a "story" but it is more of just a mindless squad shooter. There are like five differed groups of four-man squads you play as and they say a few words blow some stuff up and meet up and take down a giant monster bug, the end xD. Compared to the first game this games story and characters are just disappointing and shallow. The game play is fun, but can get boring playing by yourself, it is obvious this games story mode is made for four player co-op. The music and cut scenes are cool just like the first game but the boss fights are a little lacking. Overall, it's definitely a fun mindless shooter to play with friends, especially if you don't care about story or characters since there is barely anything there.
A solid game with fun interesting mechanics when came out back in 2007, I still enjoy playing this game today. The Story and characters are ok, the story isn't anything to special, but it gets the job done. The characters can be over the top and over dramatic, but it feels like that's what they were going for. Honestly the characters feel a little like metal gear with the way some of the bad guys act and the comical dialogue it makes for an enjoyable watch. The cutscenes in this game were awesome for the time they came out and are great to watch. The gun play is and grappling mechanic are fun and straight forward, the levels also use the mechanics to their fullest rewarding players who like to explore. The freezing mechanic was really interesting and was a cool way to add tension in the environment while fighting for your life. The different mechs and their mechanics add even more fun diversity to the game, and they are really cool. Some of the boss fights can be slightly annoying and seem unfair but I find most of them unique and really fun. This game is not perfect and can be difficult because it doesn't hold the players hand, but it was ahead of its time in the ideas it brought to the table and is worth one playthrough.
Dead Space 3 is a cautionary tale of what was to come in the gaming industry. This game has a lot of issues due to Electronics Art putting some of the best and most fun weapons in the game behind a pay wall in an in-game cash shop. These micro transactions were just the beginning of where the gaming industry was heading. Putting that aside Dead Space 3 is still a solid fun game to play but is lacking compared to the first two games. The gun play is different from the first two games in that you only get two weapons, but each has 2 changeable attachments for two ways to shoot on each gun. The enemies in the game also feel different in that shooting limbs is less important compared to how much damage your gun does which was a bad change from previous iterations. Another unnecessary change is the crafting system which just doesn't feel as fun or as important as the first two due to the lack of impact upgrading weapons has. The game play and crafting is still fun and solid but the changes just seem unnecessary and slightly off. The horror atmosphere is pretty much nonexistent in Dead Space 3 which kind of makes sense considering Isaac is a certified necromorph killer. The story and characters in this game are more of a step down from the previous two games, the characters have cheesy dumb interactions and deaths for the sake of just advancing the plot. The story is a little better than the characters its got an interesting plot that is horribly executed due to cheesy characters. The game is still solid and fun to play through, but it is a step down in every aspect from the first two and it has terrible micro transaction forced into the game by EA that ruin it further.
Dead Space 2 is a very good game that lacks one thing that its predecessor had. The thing that is missing is the feeling of atmosphere and horror that the first game did so well. In the very beginning of the game they actually do a very good job of making you feel vulnerable and have tension, this however is quickly ruined by rooms being too dark to actually look at the terrifying things around you and the lack of sound actually being used to scare the player or make them feel tense. The gameplay has been improved to make the controls less clunky which makes the combat and weapons feel very fun. The crafting system is pretty much the same and is just as fun and cool as the first game. The characters and story are great and flow really well from beginning to end. The choice to make Isaac talk in the second game didn't hurt the game much but did subtract from the horror atmosphere aspect. Overall, this game is great and feels like an awesome action sci-fi shooter that's fun to play but mostly lacks that horror atmosphere that the original did so perfectly.
The atmosphere in this game perfect, every sound and noise creates tension and is incorporated into helping the player playing the game by letting them know where enemies are in the environment. The lighting is amazing and is used to create spooky shadows in hallways or light up a torn apart corpse on the ground for the player to notice. The mechanics are slightly clunky, but this actually adds to the horror panic feel when you are fighting enemies in confined dark areas. The weapon upgrade and loot gathering system is so fun and allows players to upgrade weapons and their suit to help them survive the enemies and environmental areas with no oxygen. The story and characters are awesome and greatly add to the horror sci-fi of the game as well as the mystery of what is going on and caused the outbreak on the Ishimura. This game does everything great and the slightly clunky controls only help improve the horror aspect.
Tedious is the name of this game. As someone who has finished every game I've ever owned it was hard to finally finish this game after taking like 8 breaks because it felt like a chore more than a game. Everything in this is aggravating examples include enemies shooting you 2 miles away that you can't even see or weapon jamming and doing side stuff for malaria medicine that you need to keep from dying. The one thing i liked was how most missions give you two ways do them and require careful planning and a vast array of weapons to do them with. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter how much you plan due to the ai of enemies spotting you through buildings and always knowing where you are even if you can't see them through the brush. All the hassles in this game are not worth it to finish the mediocre story. This game had great ideas that were all horribly implemented and lead to a tedious unfulfilling experience.
An amazing game that takes the realism of war and pushes it to the breaking point. The best WWII experience of any video game with the ability to blow off limbs in a shower of blood or burning people alive and watching them screaming, this game pulls no punches and shows the true experiences of war. Great level design and gun play make for an enjoyable experience. The music and sound design for this game is top notch and the best of any Call of Duty. Amazing story telling with characters that make you truly feel like your choices matter. While it doesn't do anything groundbreaking to make it a 10/10 it is still a very good game and the best Call of Duty in my opinion.
Amazing game that improves slightly upon the story and game play of Call of Duty 4 but is also very similar still. Only disappointing thing is how short it is compared to older games like Call of Duty 2. The gameplay feels great and smoother than the previous title and the story is a fun quick explosive experience that feel like an action movie. Honestly surprised this game has mixed reviews >.>
Great game with a good story, great characters, fun unique levels, and awesome unique gameplay. Great take on the combat of the modern world and its politics.
A good game, different from Call of Duty 2 with a more dramatic all most tv like war story with colorful characters. This game is a little rough around the edges with obvious signs of being rushed and put out before it was ready. Examples of this are holes certain parts of levels that let you see through the map as well as invisible wall that stick out and get in the players way in areas you are trying to fight in. The quick time events are a cool addition that unfortunately gets a little repetitive and boring near the end, but still give a unique feeling of satisfaction when blowing something up or beating an enemy soldier in hand-to-hand combat and killing them. While the game play and world design are a little Janky, they are good enough to be carried by the games interesting characters and the stories that are told about this part of the war through them. The story and characters while somewhat less realistic to actual war are still enjoyable to experience like being in a war movie about the battle of the Falaise gap.
One of the best Call of Duty games ever made and just a great interpretation of WWII. This game makes you feel like a part of that time in history and gives a glimpse of what war was like. A very good game, a very good shooter, and the 2nd best WWII game second only to Call of Duty: World at War.
Amazing game, every inch of this game is covered in bloody fun from beginning to end. The enemies and bosses combined with the loot grinding never gets old and feels so satisfying when you get an insanely fun drop that changes the way you do combat in the game. The loot in this game is ridiculously diverse and allows so much re-playability along with the six different and unique vault hunters you can use, not to mention being able to switch any weapon from one character to another you have. The story and characters are all done perfectly with a plethora of different takes from comedy to adventure to mystery to suspense to emotional loss to badassery and so much more. The unique world and all its designs give it a less dungeon feel and make it seem all most like an open world. Honestly this game has everything a looter shooter lover could ever want, it sits at number 2 on my list for best games ever played.
This is just a bad game. The story is all fluff no substance with tons of shock and awe to no real affect. 90% of the characters are wasted or made worse than they were in the previous game like blue team who feel more like set pieces around chief than his actual friends. Music is forgettable, I honestly can't remember any of the music from this game when I try to think of it right now. Pacing of the nonexistent story is just all over the place with no real feel of direction or purpose. The reuse of a boss fight 4-5 times is one of many things that shows the laziness behind this game. The gun play while not bad feels weird and not very Halo, there was really no reason to change it like they did. Weapons feel like they have no power and enemies all feel very much the same and uninspired in this game. The level design is the only thing in this game that is cool and fun to look at. I would recommend skipping this games campaign you aren't missing anything. :(
This game is a 9.5 for me it was all most as good as Halo: CE, it has a great story, good characters, fun gameplay and cool new enemies, nice level design, and the music is ok. Every weapons feels useful ,has heft to it, and is fun to use, this reminds me of Halo: CE and is where I feel 343 got a great deal of their inspiration from cause I see it a lot in this game. The way they showed the emotional bond between Chief and Cortana and how it has evolved after what they've been through the past three games was great. The new characters all felt like they belonged and added to the game and its story. The game was a little short compared to Halo: CE and the music honestly wasn't very memorable at all except on the last level but other than that it was an amazing game.
A very good game made by Bungie before they left Microsoft. The art style of this game was amazing and the characters and setting were used to perfection. The music was top notch and it really felt like they tried to bring back what made Halo: CE so great. The reintroduction of health packs and weapons like the assault rifle feeling like they have that power behind them again like in Halo: CE was great. The only flaw of this game was it could have used two more levels to make it a little longer and flesh out characters and the conflict more. That being said you can tell Bungie put all their effort into this game and went out with a bang.
A generation defining game and a masterpiece it did everything right, great music, great characters, great story with a great twist, great weapons that felt like they had power behind them, great enemies to fight against, amazing level design and excellent reuse of levels to make them feel different, perfect length and amount of levels for a fps. This game was my number one from 2001 to 2013 until I played Borderlands 2.
