RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Complete Edition0
Mar 31, 2025
Without a doubt this is the worst video game I have ever played. I LOVED Roller Coaster Tycoon 1, 2, and 3 for PC as a kid. I bought Roller Coaster Tycoon Classic on Switch and loved the game all over again. One day, RCT3 was on sale and I was super excited so I bought it immediately. Mother of God, I do not understand how anyone could get away with a game this terrible. The controls are beyond impossible to understand. You have to perform Mortal Kombat level combinations to open menus, hire staff, build rides. It is absolutely unplayable. I spent about 2 hours trying my hardest to wrap my head around the thousands of pages of pop-ups explaining how to play this children's game before I gave up. I genuinely wanted to love this game. With all my heart I wanted to enjoy this game. Coming on here and seeing positive reviews makes me think people are being generous for nostalgia's sake. I would sooner spend an afternoon playing the 1982 ET game than spend another second on the Nintendo Switch version of RCT3. I would rather be forced to ride a real life roller coaster of my own design (I have no engineering background, this would be certain death) than play this game again. If the controls are so difficult that the developers need to create half-hour tutorials to explain them, THEY ARE TOO DIFFICULT! For God's sake, it is a F***ing CHILDREN's game. For certain things you have to hold R while pressing Y and moving the right joystick and left joystick simultaneously. Go ahead, try it. You can't do it. Is there an option to change the controls? Nope. Is there an option to use the cursor as a mouse? Yes but it moves so slowly it is comical and you can't click most things with it. Can you adjust the sensitivity for this? Well, there is an option but it doesn't actually work. Controls switch for left handed people? Nope. Revert to classic controls? Nope. Not to mention, this 20 something year old game lags like crazy (keep in mind I literally only opened the first park and added one ride. It isn't like I developed some massive park with 200 staff and 1,000 rides/shops. There were literally 5 rides in my park and it was already lagging. The zoom in and zoom out takes forever and is annoying to manage. Overall, this is without a doubt the WORST game that I have ever played. Criminally bad. I now understand why it was on sale for like $8.95. Not sure how much Nintendo paid these other dummies to rate the game high, although I think the real dummy is me for purchasing it in the first place. I'm genuinely considering throwing my Switch away and never playing a Nintendo product ever again.
