Garbage game. Plays horribly. Don't waste your time or money. It's a real shame because this series used to be really great, but it's just slid too far downhill.

I think overall the creators did a good job with this game & I had a lot of fun with it. The combat is where the game really shines. You get to swing around, do crazy web moves, launch guys in there air, make use of wacky gadgets, and otherwise just go nuts on the bad guys. The combat system is a ton of fun, & I never got tired of stomping and webbing endless grunts. The story was pretty interesting. I am not familiar with a ton of Spiderman, so I didn't know a ton of the backstory going into it. Even so I found it to be accessible & never really got lost in what was going on despite not knowing. I found the narrative to be engaging & the characters were interesting. My biggest complaint about the game is about its overworld, exploration, point a to point b stuff, the in between action sequences. The web swinging is certainly a cool way to get around and I had fun with it for a while, but the game does it mostly on autopilot and it gets a bit stale. Then there's the open world aspect to the game, which I found to be somewhat lacking in depth & uniueness. Maybe I'm just played out on open world games in general, but I found this one to be pretty run of the mill. I think a great open world game should encourage free exploration. Instead Spiderman uses the tower system where you find a tower, press a button, and the game shows you where all the interesting stuff is. Then you go to those places instead of truly exploring. You end up playing the game on the minimap. The interesting stuff includes landmarks, collectables, fights, outposts, mini side missions. Some of these were great, some not so much, and a lot of them felt like the same stuff you get out of every open world game.

The game is really excellent if you play locally. Definitely the best in the series to date. Visually, it's fantastic. The music is excellent. There is an insane number of characters & levels & items. Really great. BUT, half the game just isn't there. Online has been completely unplayable for me. It requires paid online & a hardware accessory & still doesn't work properly. It's a very big disappointment spoiling an otherwise fantastic game.

I thought the core gameplay was a lot of fun, but I had a few minor complaints. They let you see the cards your opponents draw, then at any time you get to see a list of cards in your opponents' hands, however you can't access the details of any of these cards. You're expected to just memorize every card or constantly look them up outside the game. Similar to the first point, they don't always give you all the information affecting combat when you're in the combat screen picking an item. The AI turns can go pretty slow, and there's no way to skip them, so you end up spending a lot of time just watching the game play itself. I think the game suffered from these flaws, but overall I still had a lot of fun. The story wasn't great, but for the most part it did its job of giving you some sort of loose explanation for why you're playing this card/board game with all the wacky characters. They didn't always do a great job of explaining why sometimes you'll go into a match where your teammates actively work against your shared interests. I suppose relative to other card games with stories, it's just fine. Also speaking of wacky characters, what was Clint Eastwood doing in the game?

Not much of an rpg. I really liked the premise of starting at the final fight without memories, then going through your memories as you play out the game. Unfortunately, the premise was the only thing I liked about the game. The writing & dialogue was lackluster at best, boring & tedious most of the time. The combat was far too easy to be interesting. There were skills and such as an rpg should have, but there was no point in exploring any of the combat system because everything died so easily. All items refresh at the start of each chapter/memory. This in addition to the combat meant that progression was completely meaningless.

A good entry in the FE series. There are quite a few changes in the combat system compared to other recent FE entries, most of the changes I enjoyed. I like most of the characters in this one. It helps that the voice acting is quite well done in the English version. I also like the change to 2d cutscenes instead of cgi. Also the character models in this one even have feet. Overall the story was quite good, but I have two complaints. First, way too much heavy handed situational irony. Like instead of hinting at an interesting part of the story that might get fully revealed later, they hammer away again and again the same point until it's painfully obvious and even frustrating that the characters haven't realized it yet. Also the unrequited love interests. There are always multiple characters in every FE game who are defined entirely by their obsession with another character.

Easily a 10/10 CRPG. The battle system is fantastic, especially the elemental spell system. Skill based character progression really encourages experimentation & there are endless build possibilities. The overall story is great, the world is beautiful & feels alive. The game has an obscene amount of dialog content, all of which is voice acted, which blows my mind. Even after beating the game, replaying is still a lot of fun, especially co op. I have a running campaign with a friend that we play every time he visits.

Overall it's a solid game, but there's very little to make this one unique. It's pretty nearly identical to Valkyria Chronicles 1. I like the visual style, but parts of the game are pretty sloppy. The game doesn't always match up visually & mechanically. Sometimes a soldier can't move through a gap big enough for them to easily do so. Other times you'll have a clear line of sight to an enemy, but your shots will all hit a barrier when fired. The story was fine, but it was pretty long. At times I felt like there was too much & some parts got pretty tedius. Also there were a few too many love stories crammed into a war narrative for my liking.

One of the best entries in the Zelda franchise. One of the most actually open Open World games I've played. There is nearly zero restrictions on where to, what to do, how to do it, and in which order. The sheer amount of interactions between items, abilities, and everything else in the world is incredible. You could play this game for months without discovering everything you can do/see. In terms of the story, I was especially glad to see Zelda have a more impactful role rather than just being the same old damsel in distress. The nonlinear nature of how they presented the story was also very interesting & meshed really well with the theme of total openness and freedom of choice within the game.

One of the best games I've played. - It has an interesting story. I love the switch to Norse mythology. They are relatively true to historical context. Where they do take liberties on the mythology, it feels like it fits in naturally or at least makes sense and is necessary to fit with the context of the game's themes and stories. - a big open world that feels alive and full of gameplay, - a well thought-out battle system that requires both quick reaction and deliberate strategy to succeed. - Good progression. Plenty of opportunities to customize gear & play style. - Great character design & development. The characters are have a rich backstory revealed slowly through small dialogues & banter throughout the game. - The game is absolutely hilarious. It's packed full of jokes, but it somehow manages to fit so well in a serious action game like this.

An excellent tactical strategy game that hits all the right marks you expect from the genre while managing to set itself apart from its contemporaries. Pros: Enjoyable story that sets very high stakes right from the outset that keep the player engaged and immersed. Battle System is quick to understand, but there is plenty to master. Due to a few key tweaks on the usual grid based battle mechanics, Banner Saga's also feels very different. Every decision feels impactful and makes a meaningful difference on your future experience in the game. The game is gorgeous. Visually, it is stunning & the soundtrack is fantastic. It'd be a shame to play in handheld mode if it weren't so perfect as a mobile game. Cons: Currently no survival mode on the switch version, however devs are working on adding it. Controls on controller can be a bit finicky sometimes. I rarely had to pull the Switch out of its dock and use touch controls when trying to position units.

The premise is great & the game looks very good, especially if you are a fan of Adventure Time. When I started the game, I found it very enjoyable. However, the game loop never evolves and becomes pretty boring fairly quickly. .Additionally, the game is buggy, its loading screens are incredibly long, and it will occasionally crash altogether. Overall, the game was a pretty big disappointment.
