Transistor is an atmospheric and action-packed sci-fi RPG with excellent combat mechanics and deep customization options. The top-notch audiovisuals are complemented with a gripping storyline. Overall, Transistor is an excellent role-playing adventure. I sincerely hope, that other game companies are smart enough to copy the smartest ideas from this indie pearl. [Aug 2014]
Transistor is an example of style and courage, an action RPG with an intriguing combat system, a fascinating story and characters. This game is also simply sublime in the field of graphics and sound. A great game by the creators of Bastion.

Bewitchingly beautiful with sharp writing, but its gameplay doesn't take the same steps forward. [Aug 2014, p.72]

Played this on Apple Arcade and it got boring very quickly and seemed very repetitive cannot recommend.

What is effectively one of the prettiest and stylish games I've seen from an indie developer, and yet I have no love for anything else this game has to offer. It's weird how Super Giant games makes games that I just don't click with at all, and i recognize them specifically as games not for me. Although the ending for this game is marvelous for sure.

Anyone who loved Bastion is going to adore Transistor. The storyline is far more compelling and the combat feels like a natural extension of it. Transistor gives you faster and slower-paced ways to play, and that means it’s going to have a broader appeal.

Transistor puts a unique spin on the turn-based RPG concept everyone loves and, surprisingly, pulls it off. The game has a steep learning curve, but strong visuals and an interesting story will keep you playing.

I'm still listening to the music. This game is an absolute gem, the art design, game mechanics, story and music. Supergiant once again issues a masterclass on how to design a game.

Its just one of these games. For me a masterpiece so 10 obviously. Maybe a 9 if i were a bit more objective. Great soundtrack & visuals. Nice story and characters. Really nice combat. As allways with Super Giant Games, it has something unique to it. Its just better then the sum of its part. At least in my opinion.

The PlayStation 4 and PC versions are nearly identical save for one feature: On PS4, you can choose to have the sword’s voice come out of the speaker on the controller. While it seems gimmicky on paper, I found myself playing through the entire game this way, and really appreciating the immersion it added to my experience.

With colorful yet somewhat frightening environments, a great soundtrack and a fantastic combat system, Transistor is a unique experience that’s hard not to be amazed at. The game is a bit short and the story could’ve been better told - but it’s easily forgivable in this memorable adventure.

In comparison to Bastion, Transistor feels rigid. As its own game, it tells a tightly controlled story with an experimental battle system. While the combat works, it contradicts the idea of thoughtful approach with gameplay that threatens to undermine anything over basic combinations.

Transistor really enjoyed playing this game , a beautiful sountrack combat was intense and fun only downside that I found is it is a very short game but understandable. Recommend to play!

The artsy environment, although a bit convoluted, is nice to look at, but the gameplay is just not great. I appreciate the build diversity the game offers, but no matter what ability you choose to equip, the game always makes you play like a pseudo turn-based combat and it gets repetitive very quickly. The gameplay loop pretty much comes down to "get a few combos in, then run away until each ability recharges". The combos aren't even satisfying and there is absolutely no incentive to "git gud" or play smart in this game. I wish there was difficulty options for people who want to be challenged. Lastly, the dialogue... my god is he annoying.

Quite simply not my cup of tea. Got it via PS+ would never have played it if it hadn't been free. Reviewers have been raving about it, believe it or not I can actually see why.... if you were into this type of game.
