Loving it so far. Although technically an Open World game, the main storyline flows quite well without most of the flaws of your typical open world game, it feels more like a linear main storyline with side quests (which is probably a good thing as it gives the designers a greater ability to make an engaging main storyline). The graphics are incredible, the detail on some of the armor especially the chain mail is mind-boggling. My only complaint so far is the looting system, it's sometimes annoying to get into a position where you loot an item, I often end up activating a torch or candle instead of looting the item because I'm not exactly in the right position, they could have done that better. But overall an awesome game so far. A word of warning though, there is no way to change the main character's looks or voice so if you don't like Geralt that might put you off buying this game.

Divinity: Original Sin5

The game started out well, but the dialogue really turned me off. All of the characters felt like they were written by someone trying too hard to sound witty, I just didn't like any of the characters and that's a huge part of the gameplay. It annoyed me so much that I lost interest after the first act.

Finally an RPG that feels like the old classics, with storyling and dialogue that is interesting and well written. The mechanics are close to Baldur's Gate, albeit without all of the fancy-smanshy Dragon Age graphics. If you enjoy classic RPGs like me, and don't require top of the art graphics to enjoy the experience, this is a definite buy.

What a buggy mess! I've tried 3 times playing this game and always end up crashing after a while. Also the battles sometimes make no sense, my 100000 troops get slaughtered and the enemy loses 10 troops or something. Disappointed and just spent my money on a game I'll probably not play above 5 hours. Avoid this is my recommendation.

Mount & Blade: Warband - Napoleonic Wars5
Dec 11, 2013
If you're looking for a great single player campaign like Mount and Blade original, DON'T BUY THIS. It has no single player campaign. Granted it's my fault for not researching this enough before buying it off Steam, but I'd just like to get that out there to anyone in the same situation as me BEFORE they waste their money on this game. There is no real roleplay experience involved here, just a pretty mediocre multiplayer FPS. What made Mount and Blade truly enjoyable for me was the campaign, this expansion is like stripping the best part **** and leaving you with a mediocre product.

Total War: Rome II10

I'm a huge fan of the Total War series, and so far I'm NOT disappointed! The game is clearly a member of the Total War series, anyone who has played their previous titles will be familiar with the general gameplay. However there are new features in just about every aspect of the game that have been added, everything from province management, to agents to battle, that makes this feel different from other Total War games. As a long-time fan of the series, I love the changes, I'm looking forward to a couple hundred hours of gameplay (I had 300+ on Shogun 2). Thumbs up!

I've spent a couple nights on this game, it's quite addicting. If you enjoy Heroes of Might and Magic, you'll probably like this one. I find it superior to the Heroes of Might and Magic games. It's not perfect though, feels like an Indy game, but it's quite fun.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim7

Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed eventually with this one, as with most open-world games. Granted Skyrim is probably one of the best open-world RPGs ever made, but it still feels like a fake world with simple-minded scripted bots. The skill system is also pretty meh, I preferred the skill system of some of their previous titles. Too many skills that do nothing and the interface is quite horrible. The menus are very bad, mods do help but they still are often unresponsive and annoying. The graphics are awesome, and so are many of the mods you can download with it. It's probably one of the most modded games in history. However even with mods it's still pretty unsatisfying, NPCs still say immersion breaking things, completnig major quest lines have very little impact on the world and the "people" there are pretty bland with very little to say or do. It certainly doesn't feel very immersive. Once we have better AI and are able to properly communicate with the NPCs of their world, I think we'll start getting incredible "Open World Sandbox" games. But for now, we're stuck with games like this, which excel in certain areas but are ultimately not that immersive and offer very limited interaction with the NPCs. Another thing that annoyed me is how unattractive the factions are. I didn't feel an urge to help either the Stormcloaks or the Imperials, both were pretty unappealing factions to me. Even the Blades and the Greybeards were flawed. But I'm still giving this a 7 because it excels at certain things like graphics, amount of things to do (huge amount of content) and the lore tends to be good. If you enjoy open world type of games in a fantasy world, you'll almost certainly like this one.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria10
Sep 30, 2012
Not sure why all these people are whining, this expansion beats Cataclysm by far. I love the storyline so far, the dungeons may be easier but they are more fun, and they have more challenging modes later on. I quit WoW after Cataclysm but came back for Mists of Panderia and am loving it so far. It's not cheesy at all, which I was worried about due to the Panda theme. I bet most of these naysayers here have barely even played through the quests or dungeons, if at all. Typical Blizzard haters.

Great game. Only problem at launch is the lag, they got more players than they expected obviously. And I've encountered a few bugs. But given that the game is just out, I'll let that pass. The design is excellent, love the atmosphere of the game. It's better than WoW in my opinion as a leveling game, but I've yet to experience the end-game content so this rating may change in the future.

This game would be awesome ... if it weren't so buggy! Omg it was released way too early. My first two attempts at the game ended in buggy quests that wouldn't update, and my third kept getting crashes in the middle of fights. It's very disappointing since the graphics are great, the storyline is good and it's a fun game but the bugs pretty much ruin it. Get more QA testers and programmers!!

Was very hard to get into my first game since I tend to skip tutorials. The interface and gameplay isn't what I'm used to, hence I was a bit clueless at first and nearly gave up on the game. Then I went back and did all of the tutorials and it completely changed my view of the game. Long story short, do the tutorials or you'll regret it, unless you've played similar games in the past. Also this isn't a Total War game, the battles are simple, the complexity is in the way you manage your duchy, kingdom etc, and dealing with all the different characters in it. It's a fun and addicting game once you get into it.

Star Wars: The Old Republic6
Feb 23, 2012
Decent game with lots of potential but so many things missing that could make it go from OK to great. The graphics are good. Crafting is fun but horribly unbalanced. But the server population is dead on some servers (massive pain for my Republic character to form groups, esp during offhours). There are no server transfers to fix this. There are no cross-server queues, so you're stuck pvping the same people over and over and over (since each server is rather small). Ilum is a joke. Warzones are fun, but they get boring after a while (Ilum could save that, but it needs a lot of work). Raiding is ok. The storyline is good but it gets repetative after you've leveled one character up in the same faction. MMOs are all about raiding and pvp, storyline won't keep you interested for more than a month or two. And MMO storyline is never that great, no matter how you sugar coat it, you just can't make it as truly epic as a great single player game since you have 1000s of players who are all "saving the galaxy" 50 times a day and killing the same mobs over and over. What it needs: Cross server queues. Server transfers More interesting and dynamic world pvp (see guild wars 2 or DaoC) Ranking system for pvp Balanced crafting system (horribly unbalanced right now)

King Arthur: The Role-Playing Wargame10
Feb 23, 2012
Great game, better than the sequel by quite a margin. Less bugs, and the province resource system is quite fun. The battles in this game are similar to "Total War" but with a fantasy setting. The units are not balanced, but that's a GOOD thing, as long as you're intelligent enough to figure out the best ways to make a good army. I absolutely loved the teleport spell, it made the final battles so much fun, even though my army was way overpowered :). The game started out hard, then became easier and easier as long as you took the right paths. My only gripe was the victory conditions in the battles, they did that single thing better in the sequel (by removing the capture the flag victory condition).

Good, solid Fantasy RPG. Nothing revolutionary, but definitely worth the money. The storyline was immersive, the characters were interesting, and the graphics were sufficient (not great though). Too bad Dragon Age II was apparently such a disaster, if it had been more like Origins it probably would have done a lot better.

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning7
Oct 14, 2011
Decent game, but it was just too similar to WoW for me and it didn't have nearly as much content. That was probably what really killed it, if WoW had not been out I think it would have done much better. The pvp was fun though, I just quit before I had leveled to the maximum level so I never experienced the end-game (I went back to WoW instead). Still, it's not a bad game by any means, and today it might be worth trying out since it probably has a lot more content now than it did when it was newly released.

Awesome game if you have a lot of patience. If you're too hooked on instant gratification, you should probably stick to something else (like WoW). Eve Online is a game of community and player politics first and foremost, with a much smaller emphasis on gameplay. It reminds me a lot of my old experiences in Ultima Online, although not quite as gripping. I definitely recommend this title to anyone who enjoys taking part in MMO pvp, community and player politics.

I tried it out for a while but it just couldn't hold my interest for that long. It's not a horrible MMO, but it's just not quite as good as some of the other titles out there. Decent MMO. I leveled a character up to the maximum level and played around with a raiding guild for a while, but ultimately I stopped playing because it was just too similar to World of Warcraft which had a lot more content at the time. Good, solid MMO. I felt it was a bit of a mixture of UO and Everquest when it came out, and it was quite enjoyable. I never was drawn into it as deeply as I was with UO and Everquest, but I did play it for a year or two and leveled 2 or 3 characters to 50. World of Warcraft is very similar to Daoc, you could say it's a slightly improved version of that game in many ways.

An immensely satisfied RPG experience, although it's slow to begin with. Its graphics are outdated today, but the gameplay, character development, and story is still top-notch in comparison to any game out there. I won't go so far as to say it's the greatest game of all time, but it's definitely up there with the best. I just want to add that originally it took me a few tries to get into it, I just felt rather bored at the beginning. But once the story really starts flowing it draws you in and you can't stop until you finish it.

The mother of multiplayer FPS games, this was the first internet game I played (back in 96). It completely drew me in and I spent way too much time in front of the computer. It negatively affected some of my grades, but boy was it a blast. I may be a bit biased by saying this since it has a lot of nostalgia factor with me, but IMO it's the best multiplayer FPS game of all time. For gamers today it probably looks very outdated, but back during the mid 90's it was perfect.

The greatest multiplayer shooter experience I've had since Quake 1. The e-sport scene also helped it alot, it's the only computer game I've really followed when it comes to e-sports (back when I followed the CPL etc). The design of the game was simple but very effective and delivered a multiplayer experience that few other games can match. The CoD and Battlefield titles, although good in their own right, never drew me in like Counter-Strike.

THE greatest MMO of all time (before they messed it up). The amount of fun times I had on Chesapeak and Catskills servers ... it was just amazing. I spent many sleepless nights playing this game. It had no item leveling, raiding and lacked most features of modern MMOs, but the guild vs guild atmosphere was unique, I've never seen it in any other MMO since then. The player politics and community is what made it the best MMO experience I've had, and I've played most of the big MMOs on the market.

Oct 14, 2011
I haven't played this game in years, but when I played it back around 2000-20004 it was an incredibly addicting experience. Some of my favorite MMO experiences are in this game. This was the mother of World of Warcraft, and in many ways it was more immersive. I miss the first person view, the massive world and the battle over "Boss kills" between the big guilds on the server. The death penalty may have been harsh sometimes, but it ultimately made the experience more rewarding. It was fun times indeed. The only problem with the game was the incredible amount of time you had to put into the game to get anywhere, and once the server population started thinning getting pickup groups became harder and harder.

Might & Magic: Heroes VI7
Oct 14, 2011
Solid Heroes game, although not a lot of innovation here they did improve a lot of things. The best thing about it is that the campaign is way better than any other Heroes game I've played. It's relatively easy (at least as far as I've played it) but the storyline is good which is what I'm looking for in a roleplaying experience anyway. For anyone who enjoys Heroes of Might and Magic type of games, I would recommend this to you. It's not revolutionary but it's a fun game. I also like the fact they force you to conquer forts to take over mines and lumbermills etc, makes it much less tedious than previous Heroes games when you had to constantly send your armies to take back all the mines and lumbermills that the AI stole from you.

A Game of Thrones: Genesis3
Sep 29, 2011
Very disappointed. Thought I was buying a fun wargame which uses the Game of Thrones lore, and instead it ended up looking like a very generic boring type of game with little combat and slow-paced diplomacy with no real depth. Just send your envoy, capture a random "town", gain more gold, rinse and repeat. I stopped playing after about an hour, I'm just really disappointed with this game, a good strategy wargame based on the Game of Thrones universe would have been awesome but alas that's not the case here. Note: You might like it if you enjoy slow-paced strategy games with a lot of repetetiveness and little combat, but if not then you'd probably be better off not spending your 40 bucks on this.

When I bought the expansion to King Arthur, the Roleplaying Wargame (a game I had enjoyed immensly despite its flaws) I thought it would be an extra map or something that plays similar to the original. To my dismay, they decided to make it a completely different game. Now it's linear, with way too much quest text and way too rigid scenarios. I stopped playing after a few scenarios and gave up on it, it's just not nearly as fun as the original game. If only they'd make an expansion that plays like the original game, just a continuation of it rather than making something completely different. Bleh!

If you want a good, sci-fi game that flows well but is challenging enough to keep you interested, this one's for you.
