Seven years in Tibet is the incredible true story of Heinrich Harrer, an austrian mountain-climber that accepted some **** money, in 1939, to hammer a flag on the top of a himalaya mountain. But the war is declared and he's being kept in prison until he makes his way out with a convicted fellow. There begin his journey through the himalaya until Lhasa,the capital of Tibet. He meets the Dalai-Lama and the movie is about this friendship. It's a really beautiful story about discovering new cultures, new ways of thinking. It's about hospitality and trust in human ressources to be united. Although I would say that it's now really romanticized, it's still one of these movies that will make you feel good if you like to travel.

It really had to be a British to dare to do a movie about death ... and be successful. Indeed, if most of the recent comedies I have seen just made me smile, this one brought me to hilarity. I specifically wanted to congratulate Alan Tudyk, who plays his role with an exquisite humour. He plays a guy that is on drug without meaning to. It could almost be a masterpiece but unfortunately some of the subordinate actors don't bring much to the story ( such as the crazy dredge man ). It's a movie that I would particularly recommend to see when you're in a morose mood, this one might cheer you up!

Dances with Wolves is maybe THE masterpiece of Costner's career. As producer and leading role, he manages to reproduce the magnificent western atmosphere that we find in the book written by Michael Blake. The story is centered on the meeting of two cultures -Indian and American- in a context of civil war, in a part of the country not conquered by the army yet. Although the four and half hour of the long version may seem too much, don't expect you to fall asleep! I suggest you to reserve your evening to enjoy this masterwork, both visually and audibly, thanks to John Barry's music.

Pompeii is a story about Milo, a slave who hopes to buy his freedom and be able to marry his master's daughter. But the powerful master has already promised his girl's hand in marriage to a wealthy senator from Rome. The story takes place in the year 79, just at the time when the Vesuvius entered in eruption. The character of Milo is being played by Kit Harrington who has been recently revealed to the world thanks to his role in the tv-show "Game of Throne". I found the movie quite annoying. Kit didn't convince me in this role. The movie bets more on impressive special effects than on a scenario well tied together. It is too bad because the storyline had some real potential.
