New Pokemon Snap4
May 2, 2021
This is a fair, thorough review. The original game was better, here's why: 1) The developers seem to not understand the point of the game. The game is not the act of taking photos of pokemon. The *game* is more like a puzzle, you're supposed to figure out how to create situations with the pokemon using the tools you've been given. Can't figure out how to move onto the next level? Figure it out. New Pokemon snap has removed the puzzle solving element of the game almost entirely. Levels are unlocked, not through unique and cool discoveries, but through a mundane leveling system that literally locks certain pokemon from a level until you grind through it a few times.... not worth writing more.

I only have a single complaint with the game: the puzzles are inconsistently difficult. For probably the first 15 puzzles, you're doing a slight variation on the very first puzzle. In between these puzzles are what I call "Star Puzzles" because you get a little gold star for doing them. The problem with them is that they're less puzzle, and more "find this or that without any clues as to what to do or where they could be."

Transistor7
May 24, 2014
Transistor was better than okay. It was good. I hate comparing games to other games in reviews, but this one begs for it. I liked it a lot less than Bastion for many reasons, most of these are opinion based. For example, I preferred the music score in Bastion, the art style, the game play. As I was going through, never once did I feel like Transistor had anything blatantly better than Bastion. On its own, it has a lot of charm. It is pretty to look at, but no matter how you package it, at the end of the day, it was a love story with sort of cool fighting mechanics. That's about it. The one thing I felt was messy about this game was its menu system. It never really explained a whole lot, so it didn't insult the intelligence of the average player, but because of this, I didn't want to bother figuring out what sorts of move combinations worked optimally. In the end, I know the makers of this game could have put more effort into things. More abilities, more end-game content, more hidden dialogue. Maybe I'm just a complainer, but I felt let down after waiting so long for this game to come out.

hahahah! Yes! This is the port I've been wanting, and boy did it deliver. Graphics? Please, that wasn't never even an issue. To THIS DAY They hold a candle to many modern games. Gameplay? Cmon now, its the same Jet Set from back then. Dreamcast was such an awesome console, and they really did the game justice.

The game has quite a few redeeming qualities, good graphics, it's fun with co-op... but it's just borderlands 1 redux. I felt like I got ripped off.

Everything MarkDarkness says is absolutely true. I PERSONALLY felt the comedic relief was a little too much sometimes. Certainly not the best GAME I've ever played, it probably could have been done in movie form and had just as much of an emotional impact. All in all, it was very sad, and the soundtrack is definite fire.

Max Payne 310

After finally beating this game, I have many things to say. First, the good things. 1. It's very good visually. It's pretty cool how the bullet actually goes through your character, and out the other side. 2. It's got a GREAT story. I would play through it again just for that. 3. It's true to the game play of the first two Max Payne games. Now for the downsides: 1. It Does WAY too many camera effects. 2. It didn't do any trippy flashbacks like in the first two games. 3. It was sort of predictable, not like the first one. 4. Multiplayer mode has that god awful auto assign for match play. I'm glad I bought it.

I almost bought this game JUST to give it a bad review on steam. I was playing this game at my friend's house because he was trying to tell me how good it was, so I started playing, and my god. This is soooooo slow. I'm sure there's someone out there that will LOVE this game, but it is definitely not my cup of tea. I give it a 5 because it's good at what it does, it's just not my style.

Absolutely brilliant game. If you liked Star Siege Tribes, you'll love this game, it's a total throwback to the old school. It is definitely a different type of play style when you compare it to something like Modern Warfare. Also, to anyone comparing this to Halo, let me say this; Tribes was first. For free too? Definitely get it. I put it up there with TF2.

Definitely not worth anything below a 6, those people are exaggerating out of rage for the ending, which is very much like Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Game play is sturdy, and in fact improved on everything from the first two games. It was fun.

Poetic to say the least. Don't buy it if you don't like story driven games. In fact, I'm not sure I would even call this a game. It's definitely art though. Beautiful for a source game. Pretty music. Makes you think for a little bit. The reason I gave it a 5 is because it left me extremely empty after I completed it. While I understand the story, there is no real resolution. Oh, spoilers or whatever. All in all I felt like this was strictly eye candy with a story. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't necessarily regret spending money on it.... but you know.. RESOLUTION NEXT TIME?

At first glance, one could very easily fool ones self into believing this is an offline Maple Story. They would be VERY mistaken. The combat system the developers have chosen to implement was extraordinarily complex and rewarding, plus the amount of content crammed into this game was pretty insane as well. It is a 2D platformer / RPG with cheesy anime dialogue, and pretty 1 Dimensional characters, but it does its job.... it kept me entertained for a substantial period of time. A+ in my book, and I was glad that I bought it.

This is a very interesting puzzle game. I just beat it, and let me say, it HAD THE POTENTIAL to be as great as Portal or Portal 2. What held it back? Lack of story explanation. Some people would count that as a plus, but it makes you feel empty after you beat it. The game was very fun, but very nail rippingly difficult at times. Sometimes I knew EXACTLY how to solve a puzzle, but you have to be so PRECISE to solve it, it's ridiculous. I highly recommend it if you like any sort of mentally challenging puzzle game. Simple mechanics, complex challenges. Strange environment. Uh, what else.. Oh the music. Play your own, it gets very old very fast.
