If you missed the old days when Sega MegaDrive was the ruling console you now have the chance to understand why the blue hedgehog was so popular. [Jan 2012]

Brief, reasonably entertaining and mercifully cheap. [Feb 2012, p.103]

It's pretty much the perfect Sonic! [March 2012, p.93]

Sonic Cd is truly amazing in every way! The level design with the past and future mechanic is really creative. The bosses are smaller and easier but that’s not really a bad thing. The artwork is phenomenal also with the amazing soundtrack and how ur whole level changes depending if ur in past or future. It brings you metal sonic and the iconic race against him. I dont know how this game doesnt deserve a 10. Truly amazing.

Sonic CD is such an improvement from the first game in the series, everything from its graphics to its gameplay is improved. The game features all fun levels and there is no super rage inducing moments. This game features all good levels with new gameplay elements and sandbox like feelings, as well as every zone having 3 different fun variations that encourages replayability. While the time travel isn’t something im too big on its still cool, this is just a great game. And this game also finally prioritizes going fast and Sonics speed. My only complaint is the boss fights are kinda mid, i wish they were just a bit harder,

This is a gift for Sonic fans. It is not only one of the best Sonic games ever made, but also a great port and adaptation, something not that frequent. Its price is also helpful to recommend it. Although the game doesn't have any improvement in graphics, they have aged well.

Sonic CD is a labor of love, and for fans, it is a chance to finally play this often talked-about game. If you enjoy classic Sonic games, this is a must own. The amount of polish that went into it is impressive, especially for the low price tag. Sega may have soiled Sonic's name in previous years, but after Generations and now this, I think he is back on the right track to glory.

Sonic CD's overall package is bare-bones, with the option for the original Japanese music and a time trial mode being the only notable additions to the game, but with the tiny price point (only 400 MS points) it's an easy thing to forgive.

Sonic the Hedgehog has had it rough lately thanks to a number of middling games that have departed from the spirit of the first three games. Sonic CD is best served to those who played the original games back in the day and want a chance to relive the glory days. If you've never played Sonic CD and are a fan, then by all means spend the five bucks to play a game that's wildly different from any other.

Sonic CD is already eightteen years old, but it's still one of the greatest Sonic games. Everything that was good in the 1993 version for SEGA Mega-CD, is still good in the remake. The levels have a beautiful design and the high definition tweak certainly strengthens that. A pity that SEGA didn't add anything to the remake, some bonus content would have been nice.

Sonic Cd may not look pretty, game wise though it is a solid fun romp in the retro gaming realm.

Sonic CD is an absolute masterpiece from start to finish. The soundtrack alone makes it unforgettable — whether you listen to the US version or the EU/JPN version, the music is incredible in its own unique way. The time-travel mechanic is one of the most creative features ever put into a Sonic game, letting you explore Past, Present, and Future versions of each zone with smooth transitions and tons of replay value. The 3D bonus stages are still impressive and fun, offering a unique challenge that feels ahead of its time. And the bosses? Some of the best in the entire Sonic franchise. Each encounter is stylish, creative, and memorable — from the high-speed chase against Metal Sonic to the inventive Eggman fights, every boss battle stands out. A timeless Sonic adventure and one of the best entries in the entire series.

A cool sonic game. Love the music. And metal sonic is a fierce antagonist that adds a lot to it

BAD it was Bad, too many bouncy things and bad level design. The worst 2D Sonic game.

I cannot see why everyone likes this game so much. It has awful level design with an overuse of gimmicks and springs, terrible bosses that are way too easy, and an awful 100% system that makes the awful levels even worse. The only redeeming quality of this game is top notch presentation and music. If it weren't for the presentation, this would probably be the worst Sonic game.
