Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Min Min2
Sep 21, 2024
Of all characters to be put in a Smash Bros. game, an ARMS character shouldn't be one of 'em. Her main gimmick is her stupendous reach with her noodle arms, one of which can be changed between three types with down special to meet her needs. She's got a stupidly strong up smash with a REFLECTOR (I know it's referenced in her game, but it should've been a very specific thing only when you're fighting another Min Min and you reflect or disable her arms) to make it even more obnoxious. She's more or less a better Little Mac. To point back to my review of Smash Bros. Ultimate overall, the gameplay is fast. Too fast. And not in a good way. So, with a character like Min Min, it's incredibly difficult to get close to her and even if you do, she can just dodge and do whatever afterward to solve the problem or mash her standard attack flurry. The game's tips wanna make it seem like shielding her arm attacks will leaver her vulnerable, but that's a straight-up lie. Anyway, most players will start off using her Ramram arm since both arms together can cover the ground and air. This alone should speak for itself. It doesn't do a lot of damage, but that doesn't matter when she's got two other arms she can switch to instantly. The Dragon arm is comparably absurd to the Ramram arm. When she's edge guarding, she can just snipe you from the edge of the stage which means she can commit to it far less than most characters. The left arm is the Dragon by default and can't be changed, but if she grabs you (and by the way her grab actually grabs unlike most since it's one of the longest in the game), that arm gets a powered-up state where its lasers are stronger for roughly 20 seconds and the range is extended to 3/4 of Final Destination. This can be ended prematurely if you can grab her, but good luck with that. This state is apparently also applied to her if she gets a Smash Ball too. The Megawatt arm might be the least egregious in terms of sheer annoyance. Shortest reach, but high-powered. It's mostly used for taking stocks and it's ridiculous how much damage it can rack up if not used for smashes. If you miraculously get her off-stage, her recovery is above average. It's a tether-style move which means she's guaranteed to make it back on-stage with little to no chance of stopping her if it connects to the ledge and she doesn't have to be that close in the first place. She can pretty much be under the stage and still grab the ledge from there. At least it can't be used like Byleth's. It'd probably be different if her arms could be neutralized for some time if it was Perfect Shielded or maybe even clashed with by some moves while also making her vulnerable when it happens like how Ridley's neutral special can leave him vulnerable if he's hit while it's charging. Overall, she's a badly-designed character--or better yet, one of the worst candidates for a Smash Bros. fighter. I'm rating a bit higher than I otherwise would've 'cause I like the stage more than the character tied to it although that's not sayin' much since like a lot of the new stages, it's closer to a Battlefield clone than anything interesting although it's fitting considering its home game. The music is pretty good too. My favorites are Ribbon Ring, [NAME REDACTED], and Vs. Hedlok.

Way too laggy in general. Not talkin' about online, I mean offline. It's pretty decent solo, but when multiple local players start playin' too, the Switch acts like it's constipated and can't handle the low-grade game. There've been too many times where I'd run into stuff that hasn't loaded yet or the game would crash after a frozen screen. I'm not surprised though. The Switch is just a tablet with sticks, not a console like every sardine likes to call it.

Like the series, this **** is braindead. It's not a fighting game. Those take skill though you could say this one takes a li'l bit o' that, but not much when you get the basics down. The autocombos are pure cancer. You can mash 'em, the light ones either have massive range or a goddamn vacuum effect or both, and some of the medium ones (like Hit's medium autocombo) do a **** ton of damage. It's one of many things that really kill the game for me. As simple as the move execution is, there's little point to it when you can just crush your skull against the controller to get the same if not better results. No practice mode needed not that you need it in a game where everyone uses the same basic **** For On top of that, the light attacks got **** range. It doesn't help that defense options are nonexistent. The only thing you got is either down heavy, blowback via Sparking Blast (that's usually one time use in a match unless Shenron exists), or this gay li'l swipe that doesn't even stop your opponent's attack spree, so it'll often just work to their advantage anyway. Who the hell thought a lack of defense was good? Usin' it for ki blasts is mostly pointless when you can just Super Dash through 'em. Sparking Blast is broken as all hell too, makin' everyone stun your block absolutely for free as if defense wasn't already wack. As for the other **** the story mode is lame, the combo challenge ain't even a goddamn combo challenge. Goin' against CPUs is hella inconsistent as they could either perfectly combo into all kinds o' **** or run right into level 3 supers. Online is a hell no without a near perfect connection. Some characters could've had different costumes kinda like Videl with her ****ty long hair. And now, after all the updates, this masher **** will quickly die off like Smash Bros. The only thing that'll remain of its name. I guess no one makes fighting games anymore, only Nintendo system. This game should've been a 1-on-1 type o' game. The characters would be a lot more unique compared to the half-assed potential of what's in this game. **** the developers who made this anal prolapse called a game. Time to move on from this boring-ass tragedy.

Like the previous games, this one has it's charm in a few places. Half the reason I play games of the series is because of the story, so that's what I'll mostly talk about. Sorry if this is a bit of a messy critique. The story was OK, but it ain't nothin' special (like most Pokemon stories, game or not). You're a human with boring plot-induced amnesia... again, you meet partner a bit later, make a team to go on adventure with your memory, beat the current villain of the week... That's one way of puttin' it, but I'll go into detail. I'll refer to the player character as Silas and the partner as Sparkles for reasons. I won't put this behind a spoiler 'cause there ain't anything worth not spoiling. The tone was too childish. The "story" was more focused on goofy **** and tryin' to get a giggle outta kids than tellin' a decent story. Everything is just empty filler until the Bittercold 2 gets brought up. Crucial parts of the story don't really get explained like the protagonist's amnesia with it apparently bein' done to him twice. Dark Matter sounded neat in concept, but it was more or less already done in Gates to Infinity with the Bittercold (though it's still a breath of fresh air from the obvious "villain" Pokémon each game had prior to GtI). It having sentience doesn't do a thing for it when it has a few minions and seeks to destroy the world like the Bittercold in Gates to Infinity. Anyway, in the end, Sparkles disappears instead of you which is just for subversion and the epilogue which brings her back is all over the place. I could respect the idea of Sparkles disappearing, but it you know that's just a set up for more filler. Pointless filler at that when you KNOW she'll be back in a bit, but hey we need an epilogue chapter. Silas is just kinda left out as a main part of the plot too. I wanna talk about humans for a bit... Stop with the human-turned-Pokémon protagonists. That **** has run dry already. Try something else. How about pure Pokémon protagonists for example? The humans were never anything special in any of the games anyway although that could've been the case in Super Mystery Dungeon if they cared to write it like that. Literally any Pokémon could do what these random humans do. There's a looot of story potential with Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, but I'm speakin' from more of a comic series standpoint. The way I kinda wanted to write SMD for a future comic was Silas havin' abilities that would be integral to the overall plot. These abilities would stem from origins as a reincarnation of the human who fought Dark Matter long ago. That's among other potential changes like Sparkles dreaming of helping others by becoming an Expedition Society member, her also not being related to Mew, and whether or not Dark Matter is the main antagonist. Considering the dialog near the end of the game with Celebi explaining the Harmony Scarves, I think reincarnation would've been an interesting concept, but, like I said, I'm speakin' from more of a comic adaptation standpoint instead **** one on that. Honestly, SMD's story is on par with Sword & Shield's story which is on the money when compared to that dustbin anime. In short, Super Mystery Dungeon needs one hell of a rewrite. The gameplay is a little worse in some areas. Instead of havin' four party members, it's now three which I don't know why it was changed, but it was unnecessary. The game is also very stingy with exp. an' with how strong the enemies are, especially the bosses, it feels arbitrary. Arceus forbid you run into a Monster House. You could also beat the game and barely hit level 30. If you're mindlessly trying to brute force your way through dungeons, then you'll most likely get obliterated, so managing items is crucial. The only thing Super Mystery Dungeon did was add all Pokémon in the game and that's what most people will praise it for. At this point, I'm not that interested in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon anymore beyond Super Mystery Dungeon inspiring me to make a fan comic series of it and a follow-up series to it one day which I already have a lot of ideas for.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons6

As someone who's gotten into Animal Crossing through Pocket Camp among other things, I enjoy playin' this game way more (even though this series would be right at home on a phone now), but it has many flaws and lacks a ton of things. For one, the villagers should have their own unique personality to set 'em apart from each other. They're a main part of this little series, yet there's nothing interesting about 'em other than appearance. Personality-wise, there's zero distinction between, say, Beau and Puck for example. In general, you give a villager a gift, they mindlessly accept it as the best thing ever. The only reason to ever get attached to a villager comes down to their looks, not really what they say and it makes 'em bland. They never show any emotion other than absolute happiness. It's feels like a utopia (which I ironically wanted to name my island at one point). Everything is supposedly so perfect and no one ever has anything to talk about other than positive vibes only. It feels so feels artificial. By the way... I don't think it would hurt to have romance. It is fictional and the villagers have anthropomorphic qualities. Anyway, special characters aren't much better. The Able Sisters, specifically Sable, is the only one of the three with any kind of interesting dialog and that ain't sayin' a lot. Now that I think about it... STOP with the non-existent conversation trees. Everyone blasted the hell outta Pokémon Sword & Shield for the same thing (if you could even call it that), but of all games, Animal Crossing should be actually doing it. What's the point of choosing dialog when it either amounts to nothin' or has the same outcome as the other choice. Anyway, there's another thing that annoys me: the island sandbox. Why is it that every game uses this formulaic Minecraft-like "world" layout (actually, that would be insulting Minecraft's world generation since it's actually vast compared to Animal Crossing's hub world generation)? It'd be really nice if they designed an actual world instead of just "Hey, there's this new thing happening right now. Here's your new home. Have a good life!". Oh, and why don't villager homes expand? It'd be pretty cool if they also invited you to their homes for whatever reason. I could imagine Muffy inviting me to a sleepover or Beau and Puck wanting me to watch TV together. Another reason I'm mixed on this game is that I wish there were more activities to do instead of the same fishin', bug catchin', shell collectin', fossil huntin', flower planting, and island designing that's been in every game. With all these props in the game, you'd think you could interact with more than a handful of 'em in a more interesting way. Y'know, something akin to those two 3DS minigames from New Leaf, but expand that to certain items. Maybe have villagers occasionally challenge you to a match? Also, I think the game should really move on from the overhead view. It'd be nice to see everything with a free camera. It's aesthetically dull when every building or object is or has to be oriented forward to work with the overhead view. I almost never use local multiplayer since I do thing on my own in this game and people got me covered on why online is lame. It's dumb how cloud saves weren't a thing from the start (even though the way it is still kinda ass). Is cheating really that big of a problem in a game where you create your own experience? Are you serious? It'd be one thing if somethin' like this was runnin' rampant online in multiplayer games, but come on. If people rather stick to the legit way of playin', that's their decision. If people rather put their time into moddin' the game to speed up the progress or whatever, that's their decision. Simple. Whether they regret it or not in the long run is on them. Or god forbit someone simply wanted to have fun changing stuff on their game, affecting no one in the process. I like this franchise, but there's a LOT of room for improvement; I didn't talk about all the problems or thoughts I had on this game and the series as a whole. Maybe some of the game's issues will be patched. I'm not optimistic though. The day this series upgrades from being a budget version of The Sims is the day I can truly call it good

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate2
Mar 28, 2021
Straight-up, I've had more fun in any past Smash Bros. game compared to this one, including Brawl. On a casual level, it's likely the same thing you've played before, but repackaged with more on the roster, so that audience is instantly dealt with. On a competitive level though, gameplay revolves around the same defensive crap as before. On the other hand, offense can be ridiculous, especially with characters that're already fast, which forces you to camp like hell to even do good against 'em. The whole dodge penalty doesn't do ****. Lag in general is nonexistent, therefore it's usually impossible to punish anything. Grabs (except tethers) have been castrated. Character playstyles can be described in a short sentence or less. Calling this game balanced is like saying Americans have a healthy diet. This game is more anti-competitive than Brawl and just 'cause everything is "faster" ain't gonna change that. The balancing is a whole other thing. I'd understand balancing ~100 characters is too much, but that's Sakurai's fault. It doesn't help that a lot of 'em are annoying as all hell with the newcomers being prime examples. There's an easy solution I call "Roster Rotation". Basically, cut the roster to ~40, add in the latest predictably popular characters during a Smash Bros. game's development, maybe some old forgotten ones, and make changes to veterans based on their recent games (or their home series material if you're creative). Anyway, hitstun is worse than Brawl and the knockback doesn't help. It turns a match into a game of hit-and-run unless you play some obnoxious **** which there're a lot of in that game. Also, the controls are terrible and the **** hold buffer just adds insult to injury. Now, allow me to rip Spirits apart. Spirits is the biggest piece of **** outta ANY mode in Smash Bros. history. People have **** on Smash Tour (including me) for whatever reason, but I've reevaluated my thoughts on it and think it could've been fun if it was developed more than it was. World of Light, is a tedious Events mode essentially featuring Brawl's Stickers. Spirits have no downsides other than power and type, so you just pick the strongest ones you got. Most Spirits are weaker than the high-ranked ones and are just there to waste space in the game's files. You even get the best Spirits in the game after beating World of Light although they have one of many useless traits. Until then, you just run around a JPEG map with chores scattered around it. Y'know, when you do look at those JPEG maps, they actually look interesting as stages akin to The Great Maze in SSE. The Mysterious Dimension is my favorite one. I'd take a few long, interesting, well-designed levels over the **** they actually made. Anyway, spare me the bull**** about "But this mode lets us fight characters that we'd never see in Smash Bros. in a million years!". At the end o' the day, your still fighting Mario, Link, or whoever's in the game. Everything else is barely related to the Spirit in question. "This one loves [neutral/up/side/down] specials!", "The floor is [lava/electrical/frozen/sleep-inducing]!", "This one has no reason to exist other than to waste your time!", etc. And you can miss me like Neo from The Matrix with calling it a story. You can literally sum that **** up with "Gotta free the Spirits! Oh, and balance the light and dark stuff!". The **** calling it a story are the same people who would be callin' Steven Universe a flawless diamond. There's, like, 5 cutscenes compared to Subspace Emissary's +101. The first cutscene is what most people have their mouth agape over. The bosses are the only redeeming thing, but **** you if you thought there was a Boss Battles mode anywhere to be found. Thank god this wasn't what Sakurai went with in Brawl. I could go on about this mode specifically, but this review is already long. I tried to have some kinda fun with 'em before, but that wears out very quickly with how broken they are on top of the gameplay and characters. At least with Smash Bros. 4's Character Customization, it had custom moves and the Equipment was way more balanced compared to Spirits. The other modes ain't worth bringin' up 'cause they're the same stuff you already played and got bored with. One more thing is online. With everything I said about the gameplay in mind, imagine how that would go down on an asswipe of a "service". I don't give a damn if it was a nickel, this **** should've been free 'cause that's it's true value if even that. Nintendo loves to put on the facade of caring, but they couldn't care less. Yet, their zombie fanbase will be mindless martyrs for 'em, so they'll be alright, won't they? To sum up Ultimate's online (and offline): A breeding ground for toxic jackasses which the game's mechanics promote. There really ain't much goin' for this one. I'd easily go back to any other Smash Bros. game over Ultimate any day.

I had hopes for this game at first, but when I look back at it, it's just depressing. Infinite sounded like a cool villain, but he turned out to be pretty generic. He's just a guy who felt like causing chaos for the hell of it. And then there's the Jackal Squad who wasn't even talked about at all beyond being shown in a few panels in the prequel comic and getting "destroyed" by Shadow. Oh, and when they were beaten, he tries to avenge them, but gets put on his ass by Shadow's sudden teleporting without a Chaos Emerald. Shadow **** talks him before leaving, setting Infinite over the edge. Liam O' Brian voices him perfectly, but there's only so much a voice can do for bad writing. People are understandably confused about his ability since it's described inconsistently. Tails explained it pretty well with it essentially affecting the brain to cause all kinds of effects as if you were in a dream that can affect your real self. Still a li'l confused? Think of the power of suggestion--better yet, for you Jojo fans out there, think of Whitesnake's disks which can also give commands, including extreme ones like EXPLODING, to those they're inserted into. Now, this would be fine if it weren't for the fact that the Ruby's power was already established as reality warping which is ALSO shown when monster versions of Infinite are materialized in Metropolis. Then again, reality warping is pretty related to illusions, so I'll leave it at that. First of all, stop with the Classic Sonic! He has absolutely no reason to exist in this game (or any game that isn't Sonic Generations). He has the fewest stages of the three characters and to add insult to injury, he's now from another dimension instead of being younger Sonic. And at the end where Sonic says he'll be back is just the calm before the storm... along with Green Hill. Quick summarization of the gameplay: Sonic and the avatar are stiff, shallow, and automated while young Sonic is stiff and sloppy, not even able to go up an incline after runnin' down a massive downward slope. Anyway, the story ties into Sonic Mania. Young Sonic exists for no reason and the Phantom Ruby is a random plot device that conveniently lands on Egghead's front doorstep... again. Sonic confronts the man of eggs who has another plot of the day in the form of Infinite, a jackal (who I thought was a bat at first glance) with illusion powers via the Phantom Ruby. He shows up with Eggman to kick Sonic's ass with obvious clones of past villains while Tails watches. Months later, Sonic is presumed dead only to be confirmed alive seconds later and here's where your avatar comes in. The avatar is a Sonic FanFiction writer's dream come true. You can customize their look from somewhat of a variety of options. I've seen character customization done better in other games. Here, you have a few species to choose from, very few base species design options, and three color variants of most pieces of clothing. Then there's a Sanic ****post shirt as DLC. After you customize your look, you're off. Unlike Sonic, Burton (which is what I referred to my avatar as) uses a Wispon which is as busted as Sonic's boosting though some take a bit more effort to use. Back to the story. Burton saves Sonic who already kinda saved himself by beating the Zavok clone and they both go back to HQ... Young Sonic and Shadow one-shot two of the four clones... Sonic and Burton beat the last clone who was already a fake of something that wasn't real... Sonic fights Infinite and loses, but is left alive again for the hell of it... Burton fights Infinite and gets his ass kicked, but is saved by a Phantom Ruby prototype that Infinite should've clearly seen and later gets sent to Null Space with Sonic for ~20 seconds before they "gotta go fast" outta there somehow... The final battle begins and Infinite tries to drop a sun on The Resistance AND Eggman, but the prototype saves the day... Sonic and Burton fight Infinite one last time before he unwillingly disappears into the reactor due to the man egg's intervention and an underwhelming boss fight happens and boom, suddenly a "Let's change the world together!" speech for no reason. I didn't mention some stuff since it wasn't worth bringin' up. Notice the Chaos Emeralds are never mentioned beyond some bull**** $3.00 DLC that doesn't make the game any better. Super Sonic ain't worth it; you can already boost through everything as it is and there's no reason to play young Sonic like this since he still controls like ass. I don't know how they forgot the Chaos Emeralds. Maybe they saw that Mania already used 'em and thought the power of friendship can be a replacement for 'em in this game. One thing I could give praise for is the music (except young Sonic's stage music). My only problem is they use too much synth. I'd love to hear 'em without it. Overall, this is some ****ty FanFiction and my hopes aren't all that high for what's next.

If only Nintendo gave as much of a **** about Super Mario 3D All-Stars when compared to the emulated versions of those games. I guess it didn't matter since they know it was gonna be easy money. Oh wait, SMB35 has its flaws too. Even though it's limited, why not add SMB 2 an' SMB 3 for variety? Also, no kinda interaction with the other players aside from gameplay. Can't create a room with 34 other friends? Maybe with some variable rule settings? Stuff like that? That's just me, I guess. I ain't surprised that it's gonna go away though; online has NEVER been a thing Nintendo could do. They have the though process of a hermit when it comes to that and many other things. Then again, it prolly has nothin' to do with that at all and is simply temporary with that Mario Anniversary thing being why it exists in the first place. Anyway, it's OK for a time waster. By the way... **** you, you damn well ripped off this idea from fans.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe5
Dec 27, 2020
I've had more fun overall in Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii which I'll be comparing 8 to. I'm a guy who leans on the "quality over quantity" standard, so with that I say this game ain't all that. The masses say it's the best, but they either haven't played the ones I mentioned or say it's the best because new. First of all, MK8D's track choices are pretty bland to me, especially some o' the older tracks that were remade. Speaking of older tracks, look what they did to Toad's Turnpike and Yoshi's Valley! The character roster is pretty stupid too. Like, why isn't every clone grouped together like Yoshi and Shy Guy's color variants? And who the hell is Pink Gold Peach?! Sounds like some cringey FanFiction love interest for Metal Mario. Also, I swear the COMs are rubberbanding... again. If they really are, why? The game already relies on chance and what kart/bike setups you use, so trying to add other **** doesn't add difficulty when it's already random. While I'm at it, I'll talk about the mechanic changes 'cause now it really feels like a toddler fest. For example, remember when the Blue Shell would slow you down significantly since it launched you high in the air on hit? And in a few games, it was possible to escape it (although very hard to do)? Well in this game, it's about as inconvenient as the other shells and inescapable. Anyway, I don't really play battle mode all that much 'cause there aren't that many maps to play on and the item roster leaves a lot to be desired. It does feel stale dealing with the same small pool of items, especially when they're place-dependent. Off the top of my head, you could've added missing items from the past games (except for ones like the Banana Bunch from MK64), character-specific items with unique effects, and some of the items from the Mario Kart Arcade games. Maybe that's too much for general gameplay. Too chaotic. Well, how about limiting some items to certain tracks? That'll give more of a reason to play those tracks aside from their layout and design. Aside from racing and battle mode, there's nothing else like missions from Mario Kart DS or a "Double Dash" mode where you can pair up with someone to race together. Double Item Boxes are already in the game. Why wasn't that a thing?

It **** that Silver debuted in this game since he's pretty hated and it's been wonky to fit him into Sonic's universe because of it. I at least like some of the soundtracks in the game which're memorable to me. His World, All Hail Shadow, Dreams Of An Absolution, White Acropolis, Flame Core, Aquatic Base... I love 'em so much. The few CGI cutscenes were real nice, but the others were like watching stoic Power Rangers. The story was something outta the ordinary from what Sonic usually does, but I wouldn't completely knock the idea though it needed some changes. However, it's all over the place with inconsistencies among other things. The gameplay speaks for itself and it's sad that the development went downhill for it. Also, that one scene where Sonic is revived by a kiss from Elise (well, specifically the Chaos Emeralds)... that wasn't necessary and it's personally not even because of the whole "human × anthropomorphic" thing. It was just pointless really, especially when Knuckles prolly could've did a chant and accomplished the same thing, not to mention Amy's hilarious would-be reaction to that. What that whole sub-plot should've been was one about inspiring Elise to live up to her title as Princess of Soleanna, if anything.

The physics are prolly the dumbest thing about it. The air rolls are nearly worthless without any decent momentum; it's really great when you jus' spin instead of actually rolling in a direction and fly a billion miles past the ball. The jumping ain't **** either and the wall riding is some gay **** that don't even need to be there 'cause it's already hard as hell to control your car while being tackled a thousand different directions. It's floaty as hell, so the lightest touch might as well send you into another game. How can this game even be remotely seen as competitive (not that I care about it here). That's like saying Smash Bros. Ultimate is competitive and we know that's a ****post from the main Smash Bros. subreddits. It's just a time waster if you actually got something better to do.

I never played the original one (part of it due to the multiple versions of the same game), so... Still really hate how they changed the stuff from the other games like moves that had little effect against a type now have no effect like in the core games an' basic attacks being gone altogether (which is stupid). The story is pretty bland compared to the other games, but I guess it's forgivable since it was the first game in this series.

Another lame-ass, shameless BR game that tries to doggystyle Fortnite. Also a camper's wettest dream yet which I know comes with a game like this, but still. If you thought Call of Duty: Ghosts was a campground, you haven't seen **** yet. In Warzone Rumble, EVERYONE uses the same-ass "accessibility" thermal sight on a gun (if they don't have it, they're workin' on it) an' sits as far away as possible--actually they don't even need to do that since it's hard as hell to see 'em anyway. Ain't no point to runnin' around the map whatsoever unless you feel like gettin' killed from every goddamn angle. You essentially play on half the map 'cause if go anywhere past that, you get **** There's hardly anything good to hide around while moving depending on the map; it's opened like hell in some parts of each map. BR is the same **** as every other battle royale game except it's in 1st-person view. Plunder can either be an absolute **** or the equivalent of Berlin Wall's No Man's Land in Black Ops. The respawn time an' the stratosphere skydiving **** doesn't need to exist since it already takes goddamn eons to get back where you were. About half the weapons are **** with the shotguns bein' hella worthless to the point where they might as well be cut from the game.

It's the same mediocre games we've been gettin' for 20 years but worse. The story an' post-game is hella shallow. Characters are meh (though y'know Bea, Sonia, Nessa, Marnie... (Gloria's a different case)) but some had potential. The pop-in is atrocious. Feels like the inverse effect of the Green Baby's Stand from JBA: Stone Ocean was put on everything. The Wild Area sounded cool in concept, but should've been on the same level as Breath of the Wild's overworld, like with Galar in general. Pokémon Camp is buggy an' the curry thing is a li'l interesting but that Pokémon eating cutscene... yeah, that stuff could've been better. The gameplay is as dull an' lifeless as its ever been, especially with the gimmicky Dynamax, but the animations were supposed to be generally improved... except they weren't. While this game does have some quality of life features, it strips away others like the GTS only to sell it back in subscription form an' bein' able to turn off EXP Share. I'm personally not one to "catch 'em all" since I jus' prefer the variety of Pokémon bein' present assumin' I don't feel like catchin' 'em later or whatever, but the reasons for cuttin' over half the Pokemon from the National Pokédex are dumb, mainly because they tried to dance their asses around it. I get that would've happened sooner or later which is why you don't mindlessly churn out the same-ass formula every year. But hm, who cares? They got kids, nostalgia hoes, etc. to keep 'em well-stocked on money. Give it room to breathe instead of aligning it alongside the Pokemon anime that's also pretty lame. This series was already at a decline a looong time ago, but damn. The Isle of Armor is mundane DLC. I'm not surprised. The only thing I like outta this one is, as you could guess, Klara for pretty obvious reasons (*grabs Wacom Cintiq Pro 13*). Somethin' about 'er gives off vibes that made me like the Hex Maniacs so much. But for real, the dojo feels like a post game's replacement. Some other things I like are the li'l cutscenes with Kubfu an' bein' able to travel with one of my Pokémon, but that one is shut down by the fact it's only while I'm in the Isle of Armor, but even then it has it's own problems which never existed in Let's Go. One particularly bein' the movement speed of some Pokemon. God... Damn... Does Slowpoke among many others move like glacial molasses. Ironically, this is in the same area where you were jus' chasing three stampeding Slowpoke a few minutes ago. The new Rotom Bike design is real cool with the black trail it has an' it made me like the bike a li'l more since I preferred skates. The outfit for it is way better, too. Better than the "clown suit" one in my opinion. Now to wait on the Crown Tundra, I guess (goddamn, I hate wastin' money)... Anyway, online is worse than it was in the past games. Frame rate drops are all too common. GTS was stripped away among other things for this slow-ass tag alert system that is Y-Comm. The only reason to ever use it would be for Surprise Trade or Max Raids which is near pointless 'cause of an abusable exploit that basically ruins it for other people who want to join. It's not like it'll be worth your time anyway since there's no strategy involved because the best way to beat 'em is jus' hit really hard. Anything other than that gets hella negated as if the Dynamon is Gold Experience Requiem but even hittin' hard is a crapshoot 'cause o' the limited damage they take. Oh, you can forget playin' Max Raids offline. The NPCs have critical errors for brains and/or straight-up have weak Pokémon that're actually more like handicaps for yourself. Notice how they all have Focus Sashes because they're so useless. You'll often have at least two on your team online though 'cause o' what I already talked about. By the way, why the hell doesn't GF do updates if they wanna talk about balancing? They've been able to do that since the 3DS days, but nope. None o' that. Gotta coax that money outta your wallet. While I still love Pokémon, I'm gonna look into Digimon, Temtem, fan games, etc. at this point. An' I'll most likely stick to drawin' Pokémon stuff instead of buyin' their "new" game.

Super Bomberman R5
Apr 25, 2020
[The complete review will be done later.] As someone who's played Bomberman DS (thanks Cyclo DS Evolution) an' Bomberman Ultra, this game is pathetic compared to them. I havent played the whole story mode yet, but as far as what I've seen at the beginning, I like the Bomber's personalities (except Black Bomber) with Aqua Bomber bein' my favorite. There's somethin' I like about a cute, yet feisty girl. I do like the new abilities that each Bomber has so everyone isn't just aesthetically different. Nyaomi an' Mimi are my favorites an' they're even cuter in their home series that I never heard of 'til this game. Multiplayer is pretty much the only time I play even wgen I don't have a lot o' stuff unlocked. The reason for that bein' that tryin' to unlock things is hellishly slow, so slow that I'm 99.9% sure that Konami planned microtransactions for this game but said **** it!" for whatever reason. While it's a good thing they ain't here, it annoys me that they didn't adjust the amount of coins you get even if it was through an update.
