Ninja Gaiden 46
Oct 23, 2025
It doesn't really feel or play like the previous games in the series. You can tell that under the hood, everything functions differently. The combat lacks the tactile, precise control I've come to expect from Ninja Gaiden. The characters annoy, and the overall package lacks the style of a true NG game. It's more Yaiba than Black. It even fails to reach the level of NG2B released earlier this year, which is saying something, as that game had its own share of issues.

The best game remake to date. It's rare that I finish a game and immediately start another playthrough. Great pacing, great combat... the game simply slaps.

Gave me a choice of pronouns on the character creation screen. Nice of them to be inclusive of everyone, including smooth-brained bigots who get mad at nothing. The game is otherwise fine. If you like Souls and Nioh give it a shot.

A horrible port that reveals the worst performance issues when the game world truly opens up which is after the 2-hour Steam refund window. I think Valve should make exceptions to their usual refund policy for games with widespread performance issues. The game itself seems pretty standard to me. I don't understand the fanfare. Then again, I can't play long before it stutters to death. Totally not worth your time or money in its current state.

Halo: Reach Remastered4
Dec 10, 2019
The MCC on Xbox already had a bad reputation of releasing in an unfinished, broken state. Fast forward YEARS to the release of Reach on PC and it's the same old story. The audio is flat out broken. Gunfire is always muffled and often does not sync properly with the gun animation. There is a strange ghosting that happens on animations when playing above 60 fps, a selling point for playing on PC. When strafing, it appears as if there is a stuttering motion blur effect on objects. You cannot turn this off. Both Firefight and Multiplayer crash at the menu. I have yet to find a game of either. The fact that Microsoft/Xbox have left their biggest gaming franchise in the hands of the untrustworthy stewards at 343 boggles the mind. They routinely release buggy, unfinished software. For a company with endless resources, this is unacceptable.

A camper's dream; no reason for the W key on the keyboard. I have removed mine. I sit and wait for you to walk by. I kill three of you. UAV. I see more of you coming. I move slightly in the same room I will occupy for the remainder of the match. You return. You die. Airstrike. I almost die calling it in. No matter. Back to the corner. I kiss my shotgun. We are lovers. I shoot a man. And another and another. I am the corner king. I call in my helo. I shoot the men from the sky. I long for my corner, for my shotgun, my lover. Soon, I shall return.

I am surprised at how the many small changes make this game feel much more complete than the first. It's mechanically very solid. The enemies are much more reactive to damage. The world is beautiful and filled with events. Still, it's the same thing over and over. It's a game about getting stuff that's a different color and has a higher number, but you're mechanically still performing the same tasks. I got bored! Fast!

Getting to any of the content is roadblocked by loading screens and hubs, the performance is lackluster, and the meat of the game, the combat, just isn't all that great. I kept getting the feeling that I was missing something. After ten hours of searching for that something, I stopped caring. Try it out with EA access, if you must.

Game runs really poorly on PC. Hitches and stutters almost constantly. This is running on a 2500k/780ti. Some say it's due to the game running on Unity. I found it to be unplayable. I was also not really a fan of the art style. The whole thing just felt a little amateurish, especially considering the pedigree of the studio.

One of my favorite games of all time is even better on PC. The Dx11 stuff is kinda of a bummer, although you can still get good FPS if you get the settings right. Luckily, Nvidia's geforce experience will set the optimal settings for you now, so download that if you haven't.

A big, dumb, beautiful game with an interesting grapple mechanic. Really, it does what any open world game should do, and that's give you tons of freedom to go do what you want. As long as what you want involves a LOT of destruction.

A not-great port of a not-great game. Its combat wants to be Arkham City's Combat, but it just doesn't feel good at any point. Switching between characters during combat can be kinda fun, but gets old quickly, and the only other part of the game, the traversal, suffers from the same lack of fluidity that plagues the combat. All that's left are the rushed-looking comic style cinematics to tie it all together.

Play this for the art and animation alone. Holy crap. It's also pretty funny and presents a nice level of puzzle challenge. I really don't understand why this game is getting middling scores. It's fantastic. My only problem is the terrible mouse and keyboard control, but that's rectified by plugging in a controller.

After playing up to level 35 in MP I can say this: They've changed quite a bit in the interest of balance. Ghost is now a top-level perk. That changes everything. UAVs are now super important, as is shooting them down. "Pick 10" for loadouts also changes the way you'll play. Want to move quickly while ADS, with fast reloads and a red dot? Prepare to give up just about everything else. It's a system that guarantees nobody has too many ways to keep you down. Haters are going to hate, but this is a great game. Totally worth the money.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted7
Oct 31, 2012
I am a huge Burnout Paradise City fan. This game seems to straddle the line between that game and the more recent Need for Speed titles... to it's detriment. It's not as silly and fun as Paradise City, nor as hardcore as the Need for Speed games. The map feels small and the vehicles are dished out too readily, making the reward seems less valuable. It can be fun, but it is not the masterpiece that Paradise City was and is. Also, I was hoping for some more/better PC options. As it is, I'm using a 660ti and the high res texture pack seems to make it drop frames. Not great.

Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike - Fight for the Future10
Aug 23, 2011
This is the only way to play Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike online. Capcom brought back a classic, allowing it to reach a new generation of gamers. This is a good thing. The fighting game community that already loves this game will embrace it, as will a lot of new fans, due to all of the enhancements. If you don't like it, go yell into a void.

Call of Duty: Black Ops10
Nov 10, 2010
Based on the multiplayer only, this game is a no-brainer for fans of FPS games. Why are you even reading this? You know it's good. And, I hate to say it, Infinity Ward fanboys, but Treyarch makes better maps. My only gripe is that the matchmaking system still suffers from the same problems as before. Why is it still so hard to get into a game when I play with more than three friends? Getting kicked back to the menu repeatedly is not what I'd call fun!

Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare Pack10
Oct 28, 2010
This expansion came at the best possible time. It adds so much to the game for such a minimal price, standing as the antithesis to Fallout: New Vegas. Where New Vegas charges $60 for a game that is almost identical to Fallout 3 (except with glitches), Rockstar is charging $10 for a new, separate campaign filled with new enemy types, music, atmospheric effects, weapons, modes and more. I know it's kind of crappy to knock one game in favor of another, but Rockstar clearly respects gamers in a way that most others do not: financially.

Don't listen to Joe Juba from Game Informer. This game is awesome. It's funny, fun, and can be a challenge later on. At 5 hours long, it's also the right length. It ends when it should and leaves you wanting more, which is a good thing. Do yourself a favor and download the trial.

The game has a few good jokes, but the gameplay is just not fun for very long. The feedback on whether or not you are hitting things is terrible and the enemies don't really stand out from the backgrounds very well. I really enjoyed the first two Twisted Pixel games, but this one just falls short.
