its fine, but at the very latest it could have been better than just adding Amy and calling that new but otherwise the collection is acceptable, and i honestly don't mind the new tracks in S3&K

this is one of those games that's just..... there. i don't know why, but compared to previous entries, this feels empty. it doesn't mean its bad, but i wish this game had more content to it

honestly, from what i've heard, this game is kind of mediocre in terms of frame rate and input lag, but from my experience on my DS Lite, this seems to play perfectly. the controls are at least responsive on my end, although removing some of the features from the original games should not have been necessary. but overall, if you want to experience Sonic 3 this current decade, since the Steam version is delisted and the prices on eBay are high (i think), this would be your only choice. but overall, i can recommend this to some extent as long as you have fun with it

i'm gonna be honest while this game is good, it is a somewhat sort of downgrade compared to the previous entries such as 7, 8, and 8 Deluxe. its basically Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but with controls similar to that of 7, and it overall feels less polished, just look at the models for example. and the microtransactions is bad. while i do understand this is normal for a "pay to win" mobile game (or the 8 Deluxe's DLC), they literally make microtransactions for LITERALLY ALMOST EVERYTHING. you name it, Gold Pipes, characters, rubies. but other than that, beneath the cracks, the controls are at least responsive, the presentation is bearable, and the online multiplayer is either okay or bad based on your experience on 8 Deluxe's online mutiplayer. so overall, if you don't really care about microtransactions or are interested in them, i would recommend picking this one up. if you don't like microtransactions, its honestly debatable as to if i can recommend this one. who knows, you might like it

although some people might consider Mania and 3&K pulling off a tug-of-war between which is better, i consider the opposite and say both are incoherently one of the best 2D Sonic games of all time. as for which is more fun though, 3&K has a slight edge over Mania. first up, the controls, while similar to Sonic 1, Sonic CD, and Sonic 2, have a great sense of momentum and makes you temper with the games mechanics too, allowing you to go crazy with it. the insta-shield is also honestly a good move, as it can give off a few invincibility frames (with good timing) and can even extend Sonic's hitbox the music, although not as comparable to the 11-03-93 prototype and its Windows 97 port, is arguably the best Sonic had to offer in the Genesis era. Carnival Night is based off of MJ's Jam, Ice Cap is based off Hard Times, and Launch Base is based off of MJ's Bad (i think, i don't know). and for a game in 1994, these honestly sound pretty ahead of its time, and its a good thing the only thing that could possibly bring this down is the roll-lock from Sonic 1 and 2, which would be fixed in Mania. but otherwise, it doesn't really ruin the momentum overall, even though this is delisted, if you can find a copy of Sonic 3 (or S3&K) or use the Wayback Machine to find it on Steam, or even the ROM Hacks (like 3 Complete and 3 AIR) that have existed these past few years, this is one i highly recommend

i'm gonna be honest, this game is great, and i personally don't mind the changes to the script. if you never played Generations before, this is certainly one to try it out on. the only real downside is the slight frame delay in one spot in Green Hill Act 2 and another in some spots of White Space (i have the Switch version). but otherwise, for a Switch game (which usually low-res's some Sonic games sometimes), this is honestly acceptable
