Dull story that feels like the writers took their clues from gundam anime (look at the final boss or the Murakumo attack you get for circumstantial evidence) instead of philosophy or spirituality with flat characters, flat dialogue, inept twists and dog-water theming. The music is great. The gameplay's good, but that's easy when you can just take it from better games in the same series. The setting is good but not good enough to carry the rest.
Massive let-down. I hate it.

Never played an otome-game before in my life, but I have played two dating-sims! I like the presentation and the writing, and the whole thing's kind of grown on me.

The only people complaining about there being a lack of story are the people who jumped in at Three Houses, which wasn't actually a Fire Emblem title but an Otome Game with half-hearted strategy elements tacked on. This game looks much, much better than I initially thought looking at the screenshots, the soundtrack is amazing and the gameplay is good.

Long-ass levels with cheap deaths and a useless weapon picker that freezes you in place when you least want it to.

The ost isn't quite as good as tmnt 4 and the taunt is broken. Those are the only flaws I can think of. Oh, and that you can't choose comic book colors for the turtles.

Great characters, especially the main heroine. Good plot, with twists, subtlety and not too much scope for a change. The writing is also funny in places. Nice graphics, quite atmospheric (if not very varried) and the character portraits grow on you quite quickly. The boss-designs are pretty neat. The music is great too, if a little bit limited in variety (like the enviroments). Servicable crafting system and a combat system that reminds me of some of the better board games out there, the only downside is when you go through the same encounters over and over again with the same strategy everytime. Overal a very lovable game with a lot of heart, smartly written and crafted.

A game that wants you to earn your victory. You'll make tough choices midbattle that may either earn or cost you the battle. The music is nice, the art is glorious and the voice acting suitably over the top. I like modern Fire Emblem a lot, but this old skool pair of gems is pretty damn excellent for totally different reasons. I love it!

There are frame-rate drops, the bosses seem like they don't take enough damage and do too much damage, platforming is iffy thanks to that cute little animation whenever Beck falls from too great hights (bending through his knees when he falls and regaining his **** running, usually off of edges) visuals aren't always up to snuff and playing without voice overs still makes you wait for the duration of the voice clips instead of letting you manually skip through them although that usually isn't an issue. But! The level design is generally good and takes advantage in enough places of the air dash mechanic, the character designs are great, the music is fun and the world it all takes place in is great. This is a fun if very bumpy ride, salvaged by enough gold amidst the chicken feed. If, and that is an if, Inafune ever gets to make a sequel, I have every confidence he'll do much better, like megaman 2, if only for the fact he'll think twice about porting the damn thing to every available platform bar smartphones.

Competently made exploration based platformer with everything else ripped off wholesale from the Souls series of games. The lengths at which they went to pilfer and the lengths they didn't go to to mask it or give it some sort of original twist is frankly shocking. The only differences are that it's 2D, that character designs look like something out of a cheap, dingy flash video from the early 2000's (like they were designed by a focus group analyst instead of an actual designer) and that most of the bosses look about as interesting as old bread. Coupled with the at-the-time imminent release of Dark Souls III makes me hate this game on a deep, personal level. Obviously the only reason I'm writing this now after the release of DSIII and the subsequent abandonment of this shameless **** **** is out of spite.
