Fanservice galore! The characters are well animated AND social links. Story is nothing compared to the original.

A legendary JRPG experience. A cast of fun and interesting characters, a combat system that is exiting, and a twist and ending that almost put me to tears.

This is what I'm gonna call a Death Stranding situation. The trailers were more interesting than the game. This game is just flat out not fun. Repetitive lies from the devs and an "open-world" aren't what makes Pokemon fun.

My first Pokemon game was Black 2, and I didn't beat it because I got stuck at the 4th gym. Honestly didn't have a good time with the game. X is the absolute best Pokemon game to date. With actually interesting characters, Pokemon that are appealing to catch, and new features make this game an adventure from start to finish.

This is one of Nintendo's first mobile games and honestly, I thought this would be the next pokemon go. But honestly, this is a shallow excuse for a Mario kart game. With a point system that prohibits getting to new levels, absolutely horrible roster, that starts with peachette and Pauline. But not LUIGI. That's just sad at that point. Speaking of Pauline, she has a counterpart character for the New York event being Musician Mario. I'm surprised that it wasn't a skin. They could have peachette for peach and musician Mario as a skin for Mario. The game's controls are horrid as well, being only able to control by holding it horizontally. Finally, my biggest gripe with this game is the Gachha mechanics. The RNG you need to get the best characters for the best track is so bad. Did I mention that some characters are better on some courses? This game is just the church of RNGeus. This game and its horrible RNG makes mario kart tour the worst game in the series yet.

Banjo-Kazooie

Banjo Kazooie is one of the most influential games of the 90s. It’s fun and colorful music set the happy tone with the characters and character dialogue giving this child-like whimsy that just emits from every corner of this game. Even though the ending sequence can be infuriating, the rest of the game is happy and cheerful. After Rare was bought by Microsoft and the IP hasn't been used except for bad car games. The characters in this game are absolutely wonderful, with tiny little noise effects that made them feel so small compared to these massive worlds, but the thing is, is that the worlds aren’t as big as they seem. The only level that seems this way is Click Clock Wood, which is the same level but in 4 different seasons of the year. The game is so creative and smart with its level design but it never dwells on it, it’s always taking you to a new fun area whenever you get your new move and the right amount of Jiggies required. This game made me feel like a little kid running around this massive play space with slides and ladders and diving boards. It’s a feeling that I haven’t felt since I was like 7 and I miss it so much, but after playing this game, it's so amazing to feel it again. This game is a must-play.

Katana ZERO

Katana Zero has the charm that Devolver Digital puts into there games, there's no doubt about it. But there's one thing I adore about Katana Zero and that's the mix of different types of gameplay. From stealth and platforming to an easy to learn combat system, Katana Zero gives a story thats confusing at parts but comes all together in the end giving the player a moment of understanding when everything pieces together thats almost as satisfying as the gameplay. With cybernetic synths and jump-starting jazz, the OST is very appealing and one of the reasons I bought the game for it’s very reasonable $15 price point. The game may be around 2-3 hours, I wanted to keep on going back for end game content. That end game content may seem like just new blades, but what's the best part is the speedrun times. Wanting to get the fastest time was something so satisfying to me. This game deserves your money and attention because this is one of the best indie games of the year.

Just to clarify, I have never played any long JRPG or RPGs in general. The only game that can even be considered these 2 genres is Pokemon. After the game won the best RPG in 2017 and even a nomination for game of the year, I was pretty interested but didn't own a PS4 at the time. After then buying a PS4, I remembered the game when the main character was added to Super Smash Bros Ultimate, a game I had been anticipating since March. After playing the game to its completion, and crying my eyes out about 3/4 of the way through, I've realized how amazing this game is. From the shining colors to the music that's too amazing I can't stop listening. Then there's the UI. The UI should be put in a museum its that stylized. And if you're concerned about the story, it has twists and turns, with certain scenes that really have a lasting impression on you, and let you connect with the characters. The combat is also very interesting since it's half of the game. Being a slice of life/visual novel some days and the infiltration JRPG battles in the other. Personally, I find that the music, the subtle sound effects whenever you go into menus, and the flashy attacks make the JRPG formula of standing around and hitting people from a few feet away, make it a lot more satisfying. But one of my favorite parts of the game is how you manage your time. Maybe one day you hang out with a friend called a confidant, which gives you the upper hand in battle, like instantly escaping a battle if you so please or letting you start the battle with a barrage of bullets. This makes the visual novel aspect play into the dungeon-crawling JRPG aspect. If you love JRPGS, a riveting story, fun combat, and a beautiful presentation, you need to play this game.

My Friend Pedro

My Friend Pedro is a gun-fu action game with some platforming that honestly doesn’t live up to what we saw in the trailers. When I bought this game for $15, I thought it would be constant action all the time. That's not what I expect from my action games, but from what we saw in the trailers, it all looked like the same level. But all the levels look exactly the same. The only part when it doesn’t is when your outside or doing bosses. Speaking of bosses, the bosses are so easy once you figure them out. The only boss that could be considered hard is the “final” boss. That's only because they have the same movement as the player, which is way more fleshed out than any of the other enemies. The presentation is nice, and the floating psychic banana always makes funny jokes. This game is like a 7/10 for me.
