There have been so many mixed reviews of this game by critics fans and new players of this series that I had no idea what I would think of this game and now that I've played it I know my place and maybe can help others predict theirs based off of it. Enjoyment of this game depends on a couple of factors. For one YES, the story is garbage and the naration terrible, now here's the important factor, this series hardly had a story to begin with, so as a fan are you able to ignor it? Iwas and if you take out the story factors such as samus being "authorized to power up" it's really no different than finding the powerups as you go along just like any other metroid game, in fact in some instances being unable to hit an enemy that you are locked in a room with and then suddenly being given a new beam mid fight that demolishes it with little to no effort is quite gratifying, that is why I look at it as a fan. If you are a fan of the classic metroid games on NES-GBA than you will probably like this game if you can get over the story. Otherwise you may fall in the other crowd if you're looking for a solid follow up to the more recent Prime series.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1

With Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Sega and Sonic Team play it safe; but how safe is too safe? that is what each fan ultimately has to answer for themselves. Let's get the ugly out of the way first, I will in no way try to disagree about the wonky physics in this game and am like many others disapointed in that aspect of the game but the problem is, people are burning this game at the steak because it doesn't run exactly like the originals, the thing is, you can still do everything that you could before, sometimes however it just needs to be done in a different way. Once you figure this out, you have a new classic in front of you. The graphics are great and the music sounds much like a nod to the genesis classics, everything is also set up just as the old gen titles. When I say play it safe though, many fans will be split on one thing, this game should perhaps not Sonic 4 as much as "New Sonic the Hedgehog" as while the level designs themselves are new, the ideas and backgrounds behind them are riped right out of sonic the hedgehog 1 and 2, even the bosses are remakes of four bosses from S1&2 (some argue that zone 3's is new but it's really a new take on the final boss in Sonic 1 if you look at them side by side. In the end, if you are nostalgic or just want a new sonic than you can't go wrong. On a final note, for those having a hard time deciding on the console to buy this for here are some things to consider about the Wii version inparticular. For one the graphics are not nearly as sharp on an HD set as the 360 and ps3 version but if your buying it for the wii you're prepared for this. One thing that does stand out however is that due to size restrictions on the wii ware version of the game the Music is in lower quality and sounds much like midi chiptune music than the beutiful arrangments from the 360/ps3 and even I phone releases (which given the choice all three consoles are better obviously unless you must have it on the go ). The result however, may even be a selling pt to diehard fans giving a nod to the wii version as the result of these lower quality arrangements is something that sounds quite different and I'd go as far as to say it gives it a more retro 16 bit vibe, very cool or very bad depending on who you are. In the end, if you want a hard copy of the originals play the originals, if you can overlook the physics however, you have no reason not to give sonic 4 a try. If you love the demo then you'll like what the rest of the game has to offer, and thanks to the return of the chaos emeralds and super sonic anywhere, the replay value more than warrants the $15.00 price tag.

This game is full of mixed reviews from critics and fans alike. The way I see it, just like the past few years of sonic offerings, yes, this game does have issues, however unlike most of the recent releases many things about this title also stand out, in a good way this time. The most common comment about the game's predesesor (sonic unleashed) was that part of the game was awesome sonic levels and the other two thirds slow story and werehog lvls that watered down the incredible sonic platforming and running levels. sonic colors corrects this, it is nothing but pure sonic running and jumping action. As stated by a few others, the controls are a bit loose but those with the patience to overcome this will find some amazing stand out sequences that you could only find in a sonic game, some experiences as visually awe inspiring as the likes of the first time people saw Sonic adventure on the Dreamcast back in 99. Many also worry that the wisp "powers" will alter the game too much but they all fit in well in sonics arsenal and do not feel forced, infact many of them such as the drill power even remind some die hard fans of moves that sonic used to use on the old cartoons from the mid 90's. Overall, fans, unless looking for problems will eat this one up, however if you are someone looking for the game to ****, you will notice the unfixed issues such as loose controls but it is up to you to ignore the rest if you lack patience.

Super Mario All-Stars

I really want to give this a higher score than what I have, but the truth is, the value of this package cannot be determined by the game itself, in fact If the game is the only factor you are interested in, you may want to reconsider. The extras are nice, you get packaging that just screams collectable as well as a CD with some meoralbe tracks and an art book which is very cool for the collector, however the game it self would better present itself as the bonus with the rest of the package. Why I say this is that the game disc is probably less than 1% used. Most older gamers should remember Super mario all stars on the SNES a remake of Super mario 1-3 + the first us release of the japanese Super mario bros two dubbed here in the us as "The Lost Levels" Later on a special edition of this cartridge dubed Super Mario All Stars + World was released including a very slightly updated version of mario world (only difference being a new sprite for luigi instead of the original palate swap in the original release of SMW). Unfortunately, this disc only includes the original Mario all stars, no mario world in sight. Also unless you consider the ability to use the wii remote nes style instead of a classic or gc controller an improvement, there is no enhancement to be seen in this Port. Now, is this a bad collection, NO, this is to date still one of the best examples of what a compilation should be and it was done on the SNES, this is a brilliant collection of some of the best games ever. The problem however the price, at the time of release nintendo is asking a hefty $30.00 for this package that for all intents and purposes could have and should have been released on the VC for $8.00 like every other SNES game. What nintendo has done is capitalize on the demand for the title and taken full advantage of the market. Unfortunately this underhanded tactic will work, it got me, and will get most other fans as well, but those on the fence about purchasing this collection you are warned, if you want it, you know you do and there are no actual problems with the port.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

Forgotten Sands takes what could have been and even appears to be a cash in to make an extra buck off of the POP file (which is rubbish by the way) from 2010 but ends up offering more than expected. That is to say however that if you didn't care for any of the POP games from last gen, this one won't change your mind, but if you are a fan however the game has plenty to offer. Albeit, there could have been more to offer if it was given more time in development but in the end, it has little new to offer, however it takes what already has been done and does it well with a few little twists. If you are looking for the next big thing for POP this isn't it, but if you're a fan and were dissapointed by the Prince's first Current gen outing and wanted to see the prince you know and love from the ps2 and xbox days in HD, than this is well worth your time.

Prince of Persia Rival Swords

Let's get this straight, POP Rival swords IS, the same game as Prince of Persia Two Thrones, the main difference is the implimentation of wii motion controls. The determining factor comes with whether or not you own Two thrones. Now, if you don't then dive right in as the game has worlds to offer you especially if you never played two thrones. Otherwise this port has nothing to offer. If you do feel like taking the dive however it is worthwhile and while some of the motion controls are gimicky, some of them are very gratifying such as swinging dark prince's chains to grapple across large gaps or latching your sword into a wall to catch yourself. Overall your enjoyment is directly related to your attachment to the series

Sonic Classic Collection

Sonic Classic collection has been critisized by many just due to the lack of extras but really, if you're a fan then all you really care about is the games included and the quality of the ports. In that aspect my score has nothing to do with the lack of bonus content; Rather my complaint is in the quality of the ports. While none of the ports are horrible or broken some of them, mainly sonic 1 and 2 do suffer from some framerate issues that can be quite bothersome as well as sound inconsistant audio quality only when playing the first two titles. However the games are still fun and are by no means ruined by these issues, there have been far worse ports (see Sonic The Hedgehog Genesis for GBA). All in all the games are still playable but you always get the feeling that they should be better if you were playing on a console. Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles came through better, the same issues are present, but not as frequent as the other two. All in all. There are plenty of better ways to experience these games whether it be on a Genesis/Megadrive system or even in a plethora of console ports accross the last two gens of systems. However, if you really want to play these games on the go, you may just want to look into this fun yet flawed package.

Just as maniy other reviews state, 1/3 of this game is amazing(the sonic daytime levels) 1/3 of it is Decent (that being the were hog night lvls) and the other 3rd is completly slow and un needed (the town exploration areas) The Sonic levels are fast furious and amazing, I can say that for the time being this is the fastest sonic game ever made up to this time. They make the game worth playing for any fan . The were hog lvls are not horrible. They are a blend of combat (which is really dull and under developed) and platforming/ puzzle solving, almost remenescent of early crash bandicoot games. The problem is that while they are not horrible they just drag the game down from the amazing Sonic running stages and last well over 4 times as long (which is being generous, it could be more than that.) The only portion to fall flat are the towns, the controls are crappy and loose though that isn't really relevant as much as it is just a minor annoyance. What is terrible is that they are slow and filled with **** diologue form deformed **** and generic human characters that are totally out of place and really with the overall structure of the levels, this portion didn't need to be there in the first place, a menu to select stages would have been sufficient with a cut scene between stages here or there ala sonic adventure 2. Bottom line, chances are, if your a fan and still curious about the game at this point, then chances are, you will enjoy it enough to overlook its shortcomings.

Mega Man 10

Maybe MegaMan 10 is a cash in by the developer, but you know what? It's a fun Cash In. Let's get this straight, I am a huge Megaman Fan, at one point growing up I prided myself in owning just about every official Megaman game released in the US all the way up to the GBA/PS2 era. love the series to death especially the originals. That being said, I was shocked and amazed by the announcement of Megaman 9 last year. It was absolutly brilliant and very bold, to counter stale and average reviews recieved by recent entries in the series capcom literally took it all back the begining and created a solid authentic and amazing NES throwback that I and most other fans ate up. Fastforward one year and now we have Megaman 10. Just like Megaman 9, it's still fund, it's still well made, and it's still 8-bit. The fan in me wants to be fine with this, however megaman 10, though it is still fun just seems to lack the charm of megaman 9. Worse yet, I just can't shake the felling that it feels like a cash in by the developer. I can't state enough that if you were a fan of 9, 10 is still a must play, heck if you missed 9 but still love the nes games it would be fine to pick this up as well. However, I doubt I am the only fan that will openly state that this game just feels like capcom capitilizing on the profits brought on by megaman 9 and a total cash in, but to it's credit it's a cash in that still manages to be fun, which is what few sequels of this nature are able to pull off.
