Starfield

Starfield is supposed to be a more serious space game, but it has all of the Bethesda jank and none of the charm or whimsy. Some aspects I will comment on first: the design of ships, interiors, electronics, etc. are stellar and a breath of fresh air. Interiors are densely packed with items and you can open/close a ton of containers. You can read just about everything - whiteboards, notes, signs, system displays; I really like that the models and physical design is thoughtful and believably realistic. It makes the game feel a bit like an immersive sim where everything in the world feels like it has purpose. Also, in general the voice acting is great and doesn't feel like you're talking to the same NPC every other interaction. Leading into the big thing the game dedicates its name to, the space travel is.. not it. Interacting with menus and submenus on keyboard and mouse is tedium. The requirement of fast-traveling and heavy reliance on filler loading animations is janky and old even the first time around. It calls me back to Mass Effect 1 where you have to wait for the elevator to finish, even if the game loaded. Adding salt to the wound, that's the same game that did this exact map and fast travel system better sixteen years ago. Even considering the stuck-in-the-Mako planetary experiences, Starfield has the opposite problem of having to walk everywhere. The list of things that Starfield hasn't impressed me on is pretty much everything else. Not so fun gameplay, lack of responsive and challenging AI, the UI and UX is pretty bad overall (at least on keyboard and mouse); though I won't comment on the writing as I haven't completed enough main story or side content. The world is particularly sterile and empty feeling. While I can't say I expected stuff to be any more dynamic because we're on Gamebyro's uncountable iteration, I can't help feeling disappointed that there is still minimal world interactivity; lights are static, items, glass, etc are indestructible, the majority of NPCs are lifeless filler. Cyberpunk 2077 was **** on launch with objects/NPCs popping in, tons of features not working at all, cops spawning out of thin air (infinitely, too!). Night City was hailed as graphically cool but ultimately empty, and the rest was raked over the coals. Now say "Bethesda" 5 times in the mirror and Starfield gets a pass (and Todd doesn't break your legs). To expand on NPCs: Terrible right now, but definitely could be bugged systems. Interacting with them can be tedious (zoom+camera switch no matter where they are in relation to each other) besides that they are cardboard props. Running around causing mayhem in the streets? Point guns at them, shoot around them - no reaction. Steal a sweet roll? Time to die. Of course, the classic Bethesda guard telepathy is still kicking. Steal something or kill someone 500,000LY away from the nearest guard? Stop right there criminal scum! In combat it's not uncommon for enemies to stand still and do nothing, sometimes they slide into place to perform a slow/janky animation like jumping, all while your bipedal robo pal walks over and smacks them to death (with admittedly funny ragdolls and dialogue). General gameplay is pretty much TES and FO. Honestly even a step back because the world is far less reactive and more sterile; there's no gore or dismemberment, the best you'll get is them going into an Apex Legends crawl after some damage. Fallout has a satirical feeling atmosphere, so the often wacky NPC animations, random dialogue from the same 3 voice actors as everyone either runs or gangs up on you is amusing. The same goes for Skyrim and Oblivion, where they have fantasy-world whimsicality and radiant interactions. Definitely not a fan of some skill tree upgrade "challenges" or tasks. An obnoxious example is to reach the next tier of stamina upgrade by depleting oxygen (including filling the co2 bar fully) 20 times, where my solution was being overencumbered, running in a circle on the ship, then sleeping and repeat 20x. Some of these things are fine if they occur through normal gameplay, but that action twenty times is not. Meanwhile in the lockpick tree, it's "lockpick 5 things". Deja vu. I've played this game a dozen times already.

I'd no longer recommend this. While planets are a nice addition and the game is fun if you like building spaceships and what have you, it's a bit broken. Just a bit.

While I previously gave this a 10, sadly I have to give it another look. I'm no doctor, but we're gonna have to prescribe an amputation of DLC and microtransactions.. stat.

Okay. It was kind of fun at the start when everyone was new. Of course, there's nothing to do after that. Maps? Too few. Design? Too many chokepoints. Balance? Don't make me laugh. Relies on DLC, and who is going to buy premium for a dead game?

The new bar for all other RPGs. Step over overrated Elder Scrolls games, nobody will let you get away with being half broken at launch with lacklustre writing anymore. Probably. The Witcher is a series you might remember by book or game, but you need not play or read them to get the "full" experience of three. You'd be more knowledgeable about things, characters, factions and etcetera, as would be my recommendation since they're very good, but not necessary. The graphics are fantastic as you've might have heard.. the amount of hype and all. The combat is generally well balanced, favouring those well prepared: it can be frustrating if you're not - especially on higher difficulties where the wrong step leaves you dead. You can always die if you make a mistake. It comes packed with an incredible amount of things to do, from simple two step fetch quests to much longer multi-quest, well, err, quests. Gameplay can be deep as you want it to be. You can prepare as much as you want for your fights, making potions for healing, damage, or other effects, bombs which have different uses against monsters, as well as blade oil to buff damage towards said specific types of monsters. Or you can run in and get dead. Your choice. Story? I'll leave that up to you. It's best to be in the dark about this game; all I'll say is the game deals in grey, don't expect happy rainbows and kittens: the choices you will make may not be favorable, and that is what makes it so good. Lastly, gwent. Personally, this is a fantastic part of the game I never thought I'd enjoy. It's a turn-based strategy card game. It's awesome. Will go down in history as the moment Geralt of Rivia came to life and slayed the monsters of over-hyped broken games, leaving those developers get their **** together and make something actually good. Heh. Unlikely. I'm hopeful as a dandelion though. Recommended.

I played this on the PS3 originally and then the PS4 later. I only got a few hours into the story on either. Gave it a 6 here, said it was just worn thin on me. Come release of the PC version I was following it and once I saw GTA:Online I decided to go for it. Third time's the charm, right? So, after two lukewarm experiences and 2 years of waiting what do I think? Online is quite fun, that's all I've played. Issues yes, very much, but not nearly the disaster IV was. Getting put in lobbies with people that don't speak your language/horrible connections and.. other unsavory types is annoying (and happens too often for my taste.) but for that I've met a lot of awesome people and had great experiences. Recommended.

It's Call of Duty. Does exactly what you think it's going to do. One of my favorite shooters of all time was MW2 so I'm biased but this is fun--only if you like CoD.

Game of the decade, certainly. Just a year after and I'm very sure that nothing is going to contend this game for that title. Great story, gameplay, stealth, you do what you want to do. Another plus is that Elias Toufexis has an incredibly unique and awesome voice, you get to listen to that the whole game!

Anything cool they could have done was scrapped. We're left with something halfway into the "future" and halfway stuck in ARMA II because people just can't suspend disbelief. Decent with mods, not very good on its own.

It's a shame what happened to this series, from the unknown first installment and expansion to the ruined - from a SupCom standpoint - second (third) game which ultimately killed it. Install Sorian AI and get a friend or two and you won't regret it. That and you can build shield generators to protect shield generators.

Once upon a time, a friend an I made a very bad uninformed purchase. We bought C&C4 thinking it would be a better C&C3. The first and last time we played this, an inside joke was born. The only thing I remember about this game was that horribly laggy cutscene.. OMG A MISISLE!1!11111111!!

Let's say you created a new battlefield game. Your focus is, as it always was, multiplayer. You've finished making that and put your time into a time-wasting campaign, but somewhere along the line you ruined that plan and made the best singleplayer campaign that any FPS game will ever have. That is Bad Company.

Rehashing the same formula works, but that doesn't mean you've made a good game in the process. Just like MW2, this focuses on making as much money as possible. Unlike MW2, it ruined any fun CoD had left and brought IW to a new low.

Blood Money is THE classic stealth game. Polished masterpiece it isn't - it's hilariously bad in a lot of ways, the animations and ragdolls, the voice acting and models, but all that is rendered irrelevant. This has near infinite replayability, going through a level a thousand different ways, changing what you do only slightly. You owe it to yourself to play this atleast once, you won't be sorry.

In a word? Overrated. They really messed up the major point of even playing an Elder Scrolls game - the story. Not just the main quest, but all of the side quests and especially the guilds. It is fun, but inferior to Oblivion and Morrowind and not a good sign of to-be Elder Scrolls games.

Sequels are always a scary thing. Mass Effect 2 came out and a lot of stuff that I found accessible enough from 1 was simplified. Sure, I didn't particularly enjoy driving around on a planet for 10 minutes, but would have preferred that over probing. Each game was better in its own way. I liked the wider range of well, everything you could do in 1, but enjoyed the story and characters more in 2. I like to think the thought of reapers made everyone get better training and stop being as clunky, but that's just me.
