Is FFX worse than the FFXI+ era of the series? No. But man is this game terrible when compared to the previous titles. One of the most insufferable protagonists ever and the game's artstyle is really ugly. I thought I would get used to it but I never did. Much of the architecture doesn't make sense and the fashion is horrendous. The whole game is essentially just walking down a hallway until the very end of the game opens up and even then it's still fairly small. Blitzball is one of the worst minigames ever. The story is a mess, the cloister of trials ****, and the battle system is good on paper but ends up being slow, resulting in even trash mobs taking longer to kill than they should. If you haven't played the previous titles before this one I recommend you do so. If you have and still like this game then you should stop pretending to like this hallway simulator.
Radiant Historia's graphics, music, and especially the story are all top notch, making it one of the best games on the 3DS. However I cannot give it anything higher than a 7 due to the insane amount of backtracking that you have to do in order to get the True Ending which was added in Perfect Chronology. You are essentially required to play the game twice in addition to a new character who helps you do so after getting the normal ending. I feel like this game borders on being a visual novel more than it does an RPG at times and I recommend switching to easy mode afterwards to skip all the battles since your party will be at its max strength anyway. Despite this design flaw, it is a really special game. Stocke is a remarkable protagonist who knows when to shut up (I wish the other characters in this game did too); to go back and do the right thing is something we've all wanted to do at least once, and his journey is heartening and unforgettable.
It's anime chess, what is there not to like about it. The whole series, well, at least before the 3DS era, are some of the greatest RPGs ever and this one is a must play for sure. Out of all of Yuka Tsujiyoko's scores, this game came close to being the greatest but I still feel that Genealogy of the Holy War holds that title.
It's good but a tad bit overrated. Many of the things you acquire in the castle are useless or underpowered by the time you get them. Artwork and graphics are timeless. Inverted castle is unnecessary padding in my opinion. Music is amazing, with about the same amount of euphoric high points as Rondo of Blood, leagues better than IV's overrated OST.
This game has some of the worst camera controls ever. In the first level, when you ascend onto the very first wall right next to you, the camera is already pointing way too high up. You have to wrangle it almost every single time if you ever want to see where you're going. They didn't playtest it at all or just didn't care to. Tenchu Z, Shinobido, and even Red Ninja don't have this problem. Save your time and play those instead.
My 2025 GOTY easily. It has some Platinum Games DNA in it but still plays like the older NG games, especially NG2. Small bugs here and there when it comes to essence absorption and some UI elements but other than that the performance is good.
Ehh I don't know about this one, I really want to like this series but the story isn't interesting enough for me to care about it. I wouldn't mind the long dialogue and cutscenes if it was. The combat is very flashy but extremely unsatisfying since it's really slow, it's no wonder they made a turn-based version, that's probably what it should've been from the start, or at least more like Sleeping Dogs, a game that's actually fun to play. The minigames are down right horrible. SEGA has many great arcade games but they picked the worst ones possible. Generic racing game, generic shoot em up, karaoke, claw machines, etc. instead of their more influential ones like Virtua Cop, Crazy Taxi, Virtua Fighter, Die Hard, The House of the Dead, Panzer Dragoon, etc. Might give it another shot sometime down the road.
This is just bad, I knew that Ryukishi being the story writer wasn't good news and it shows but there is nothing else redeemable about this game. The environments are uninspired and linear, the combat is god awful, and I can't even remember a single piece from the game's soundtrack. Konami gave me hope with the great Suikoden 1&2 remasters and then they release this crap. Maybe a new Castlevania game could be their saving grace but I doubt it.
It can be a slog at times but I don't care. The story, the visuals, the themes, the music, the characters are truly one of a kind. The Xenoblade games pale in comparison to this gem. One of those games you think about long after completing it
The original Sky trilogy is great but this remake is not. Confirmed censored dialogue and models even in JP version, bugs, awkward low-effort animations, full of grammar mistakes and typos which means it was clearly written by someone who is not good with English. Falcom has lost their touch.
What an adventure! My only issues with this game is that it can be quite slow at times, especially ship battles, and those damn ladders. All worth it for Aika though
Such a boring, buggy, and unfinished game. Sonic deserves better, this 24-year-long curse on the series needs to end. Give Sonic a good JRPG, made by Atlus, or any company that's decent at making a JRPG. SEGA, give Sonic the breath of life that he needs!!!
Best battle theme in any game ever. Beautiful artwork. Very unique and TOUGH as nails. I usually don't like roguelikes but this was suprisingly good. Massively overhated by critics who can't fathom a turn-based game that requires you to use your head.
I completely forgot how horrible the missions in this game are, could not have aged worse. Story is forgettable after a certain point. EVERY PC version is COMPLETELY unplayable, early on you will always reach a certain point where the game softlocks and you cant beat a certain mission because of physics related bugs (GTA 3 and GTA:VC also have the same issue), unacceptable for a company like Rockstar. Only way to circumvent this is by emulating the PS2 version with its low framerate. It's fun to mess around in free roam but that's the only good part about it. It seems Bully and GTA 4 were total flukes in being the only good games after so much nostalgia-goggles syndrome.
This would be a way better game if the wolf missions weren't a mandatory part, my god what were they thinking. Soundtrack is similar to OOT but way more emotional and I still love it also Midna is an overhated character
Boring game that was soulless even in the beginning. Its predecessors Roadblocks (why is this censored lol) and Blockland do everything better. Easily the most overrated game of all time.
It's the best one unironically. Competitive players don't like it but that's why it's so great. The casual gamemodes such as zombie escape and jailbreak have infinite replayability.
Filled with cheaters. It is boring to play and completely devoid of soul unlike its predecessors. This is what happens when you disregard your majority casual playerbase and only tend to the competitive ones.
Fixes none of the issues with the first game. Cutscenes are even longer and more obnoxious. Entire game is spent serving Yahweh's chosen people. Vavra is a sellout but it was obvious from the start, IYKYK.
It's decent but as soon as you get back from Mexico the game completely falls apart. As soon as this happened I lost all interest and didn't finish it. This one is at least somewhat bearable to play unlike its sequel.
A fun hidden gem open-world game. The combat takes the system from the Batman Arkham games and improves on it tenfold. The gunplay isn't that great but the story is decent enough. I would put it right under GTA 4.
I am confused on why this is rated so high. It is a full downgrade from the first game. The cutscenes in this game are unique in the way they let you walk around which you think would be cool but ends up being the opposite. In the lab you at least get to tinker with the environment... which gets boring in a minute or so as you wait for the characters to finish their obnoxiously long dialogue. The jokes are lame and the dialogue has multiple long awkward pauses as the characters make a weird face for the player. The NPCs move in a very awkward way in these "cutscenes" and nobody feels like a human. Ironically enough, the unending waves of the same 2-3 types of combine soldiers that assault you throughout the game feel more human than they do. Not to mention this game isn't even finished. Why bother if they knew episode 3 wasn't gonna come out? The first game is action packed along with good puzzles and an oppressive atmosphere. This game has none of that. The boat mission is lame and overrated, wow, holding W with even more downtime from fighting. DOCTOR FREEMAN IT'S SO GOOD TO YOU SEE YOU!!! Ugh, just get off of me already, who even are you? There's like 20 different versions of you in the first game Mr. Generic Scientist. And the other combine spy guy, whatever his name is. There's Alyx who's supposed to be Gordon's companion or whatever but I don't remember a lick of her dialogue. This game is a crappy tech demo and nothing more.
It's a shame that Samus is stuck in this mediocre franchise as I feel she has a lot more potential being the first female videogame protagonist and all. Not much to say about this game with its meh combat and controls. Graphics are cool and the music is too but that's about it. Super Metroid is much better.
Easily the worst rockstar game. I didn't think they could top GTA 5, but somehow they did. It removes all of the good from the original and keeps the bad, adding onto the nonsense with even longer cutscenes, boring missions, obnoxiously easy combat made for people who've never played a videogame before, and muh heckin realism with the stupid horse and gun cleaning mechanics, among other things I'm leaving out because this game is just that boring. Not to mention all the weird subliminal rewriting of American history with left-wing garbage.
This game is easier than the first but is still just as fun. Some dislike the more linear style but I appreciate how it focuses more on the action. Regardless, both games are legendary and there are no other games like them.
The ultimate action-game experience. At first, it beats you down, but eventually you get the hang of the controls, and you realize it has the best combat system in any game ever. The boss fights are brutal, but not in a bad way like in the Souls games, and taking the time to defeat them is very satisfying. Underrated soundtrack. Playing as Ryu Hayabusa makes you feel like a real ninja; there is no other game like it.
I mean, it's alright I guess. The first half of the game is great and then takes a nosedive after. I finished it but it was a chore to do so. A bit overrated.
A medieval sandbox game where you climb from being a mere peasant to ruling over Calradia like an emperor. Countless hours spent raiding and defending. There is also a Napoleonic mod that is very fun with other people.
Metal Gear Solid is the most overrated series of all time. It has a convoluted anime plot that constantly retcons and contradicts itself with every new game. Nonsensical tacticool jargon to entertain easily impressed military otakus. Insanely long cutscenes with terrible choreography/cinematography that look like you gave a middle schooler Blender after having him watch The Matrix. Dialogue that is so pretentious and so far removed from how real people speak that it feels like you're reading through a chuuni teenager's poetry in his diary. Extremely simple stealth mechanics compared to its contemporaries like Thief and Splinter Cell. Thinly-veiled (AKA in-your-face) fetish fuel everywhere, they might as well have just had a golden shower scene or gay r*pe scene straight up for how much the games reference p*ss and feature male as* shots. Most memorable parts of the games are literally just gimmicks like Mantis referencing your memory card saves or doing something ret**ded like taking the fake death pill to get past the game over screen to fight the Sorrow (the entire fight is holding up on the control stick, LOL). These games are **** and have always been **** and I'm tired of pretending they're not. The only slightly good ones are Peace Walker and 5 because they at least are more gameplay-focused, and 5 has some great mechanics, but it's a shame that those mechanics are stuck in these **** games. Kojima is the biggest hack in the entire industry.
The greatest videogame of all time. It is prophetic with its themes and stunning with its atmosphere, soundtrack, and unforgettable characters. The combat is a bit outdated but can be improved easily with mods. Legendary.
The greatest stealth game of all time with much needed improvements from the original. I would not be surprised if the people who score this game low are braindead Metal Gear Solid fanboys as they wouldn't know what a good videogame is even if it hit them in the face.
