Let’s be clear. The controls **** and it ruins the game. I can’t enjoy it because I can’t play it. Fix it please.

Looks bad, plays clunky and starts boring. Really not what we wanted from Xbox and Bethesda after waiting so long for the next half decent Xbox game. I literally went out and bought a PS5 after Redfall as I can’t sit around waiting for something decent to play. Dipped back into Xbox game pass to try this out and thank god I didn’t have to buy it. Surely this should have been a game to showcase the power of the Xbox series x but instead they’ve just highlighted its shortcomings. It feels like a gen 1 Xbox one game. Sort yourself out Xbox!

This is a pretty awesome game. Great fight mechanics, deep RPG upgrade system, lots of customisation loot and an immense open world that just keeps coming. The only reason I give it a 9 and birth a 10 is the performance issues; it’s not very well optimised on series x. The ray tracing mode doesn’t look any different to the performance mode… apart from the frame drop, frame rate is a bit jerky and some pop in is seen. I also think that the dialogue and story elements are too sparse to make a cohesive feeling story. However, it’s a fantastic and well designed open world. The enemies are original and imaginative. I can see why people think they’re cut and paste, but that’s the point of the souls borne games. You learn the patterns and apply your style to each enemy as they present themselves. It has an original feel, although it’s in the dark souls format. No micro transactions or crowbarred in multiplayer. It’s a genuine, honest to god single player experience. It’s got no cynical angles to it. The grind is real but balanced. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand!

Why do we accept games at the price of this with no campaign and rough multiplayer, when Warzone is free? I just can’t believe that EA try this corner cutting again and again and seem to expect a different outcome. Waste of money and effort. I wish they’d sort out a proper battlefield game…

How did they not see this coming? How do fans of the series love GTA more than its own creators? Surely someone at Rockstar tried the game before it went out, but how did they not say “it’s not going out like this?” Basic PC mods have been more impressive for years. They have seen people show off modern versions of GTA… there are thousands of examples of what people want to see… and they didn’t take any notice. From a technical standpoint… how on earth does this have frame rate issues on Xbox series x on fidelity mode. It performs worse than cyberpunk… why and how..? It’s a pathetic attempt.

Cyberpunk 20777
Dec 28, 2020
This review ignores the glitches and bugs, and instead focuses on the main game. Cyberpunk is a mixture of massive open world possibilities and fabulous storyline/voice acting and linear gameplay and missed opportunities. There are secrets all around to explore from the different ways you can approach and play the game to the hidden objectives within the quests. You could get lost in its rich and crafted depth and yet the developers decided to opt for a skimming off the top of all this and leave you bereft of meaningful objectives. The gameplay and graphics are excellent, and I thought I’d dip my toe in the game and do a few missions before I upgrade to the series x next year and the “Full Game” was released. The next thing I know, I’m about 5 short acts into the game and I’m prompted to save my game. I’m thinking at this point that I’ve hit the start of some main plot twist and then... “the end”... I finished it. I thought I’d only just got started. I’d only done about 1 mission in the badlands FFS! Seriously, this has got to be the worlds shortest RPG... It’s an RPG with the campaign length of a first person shooter. Really this product was not ready, and I’m not just talking the bugs. I would say it needed another year in development focusing just on the high end hardware. They really needed to flesh the storyline out across the whole map and get you immersed in the cyberpunk world. It’s a great game. Well worth the money, but it’s just such a missed opportunity that it’s a real shame.

Guitar Hero Live3

This feels like a game ported from the iPhone. Yes the presentation is better but the idea is specifically pay to play. Activision has defended it's Pay to Play ( or Fee to Pay ) approach in a triple A game by saying you have the free guitar hero channels, and you can grind your way through that to "earn Plays". Grinding to earn... not at all a mobile game developers approach. I wouldn't mind this so much if this did't have such an negative effect on gameplay. Tailored around a single players "paying" experience there is no online play support, a shoddy local two player add on that the second person can't sign into and most horribly of all NO PRACTICE MODE... of course a practice mode for songs would mean that you weren't paying for every time you play... No freebies here you guys! The setlist they give you is clearly intended to get you paying for other songs. Im sure that any self respecting rocker is going to be "hammering on and pulling off" to such classic rock legends as Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Rhianna, Eminem and of course every middle age mans worst nightmare - Mumford and Sons... No? Then stump up for some ZZ Top, Megadeth, Pantera, Killswitch Engage one pay at a time! Ok now that's over - heres the positive. I Like the set up of the controller. I hated it at first but after a week or so of play I really like it. It's cheap feeling and has a nasty USB taking up a usb slot on the machine for no reason, but I like the six buttons. I really also like the FMV video. This presentation is way better than the EMO cartoon you get on Rock band or previous Guitar Hero's. The feedback from the crowd and band is more tangible and displays better the disappointment of those around you who think you are stupid for diving into expert mode when you clearly should be selling popcorn or band t shirts instead. Unfortunately the one thing that will always stop me coming back to this iteration of guitar hero, above all the other negatives is the controller lag. You just cannot get this thing to calibrate properly. The calibration tools are a joke... they give you a bell and pretty much say - " you have eyes and ears now get on with it". There is an auto calibration but remember you don't pay for it - so it's worth as much as you paid... nowt. I read an article recently on Polygon praising Activision for how well they had integrated guitar hero live into the iPad, iPhone and apple TV and how this is the future of gaming. Personally I truly believe it is the other way around, that activision have successfully ported iPhone gaming into the mainstream AAA genre. Is this the future of gaming?

Superb game made better with the new turbo mode. Combat system is awesome. Story is fine... i dont know why people moan about it. I really believe that people think if they give it bad enough feedback that capcom will go back to the old devil may cry. Personally, i'd love to see both. The truth is this was a premature reboot, there was simply no need to do it. I love it either way, but I do miss the cheesy gothic anime roots and the cheery dante. Nevertheless this is well worth the time and money. Ninja Theory have done a great job - In particular on the level design... some really origional ideas.

Alien: Isolation8
Oct 12, 2014
Since my first Aliens game on the ZX spectrum (check out the LV427 remake - the sidescroller on youtube) I have rarely felt the tension required to label the Aliens gaming franchise as 'Horror'. I enjoyed the original AVP and most of the games have given me the imagery of Aliens/Alien3 mixed with some form of action shooter. Flamethrowers and pulse rifles have been the weapon of choice and as long as you have a keen sense of reflex you will find most Alien games a reasonable experience. Here we go back... way back to the start to a time when only one Alien was enough to make your blood run cold... It's one of the most atmospheric games I have ever played. The atmosphere of the original Alien has been well recreated here and it even draws from other contemporary sci fi flicks for inspiration giving a really old school horror feel. The low fi cutscenes/loading scenes shot like an old CRT along with the basic green screen interfaces and all the lit buttons are a real throw back to a more tactile and mechanical age of sci fi imagery. Audio-wise Alien Isolation is top notch. It has to be. Alien/Aliens is not just synonymous with its great style of HR Geiger's organic vs mechanic visuals, but it has so many sounds that you could name completely out of context on just one listen. For example if I asked you to do an impression of a pulse rifle you could just reel it off and if some one had the motion tracker sound on their phone as a ring tone you would instantly know what it was. This is present and well explored. It feels organic and cinematic, well intone with the original score and sound. Musically it has smooth eerie tones built on by dynamic tension and high action strikes in all the right places. The voice acting is good and kept to a tone of relative quiet and calm as to give the panic sections a real contrast. Gameplay wise, the mechanics are smooth and with just enough frustration to give the adrenaline edge. No horror should have an all too easy control system. The fact that you have to think about the controls in a time of panic gives the feel that you can't just evade danger with a simple click of the button, you have to balance fear and mechanics in order to survive. Think of those scenes where someone in a panic is fumbling through their keys to find the right one and then drops them on the floor to raise the tension. It's not easy and if you're invested in the game and its atmosphere you will feel panicked on many occasion. Graphically the game is excellent. There are times of really convincing imagery and high detail. The lighting is excellent and subdued and wisps of steam and vented fumes provide a softer ethereal texture to the detailed mechanical environments. You can go around the corner fem a harsh med bay environment into a dark hallway with under lit steaming vents which give a living breathing feel to the space station. The only slight let down is the human animation. This sometimes 'breaks the veil' and taking you out of the game. Heads move with static eyes and mouth animations run with little representation of what is being said scuffing the polish on a well toned and immersive experience. Its a small **** but it does somewhat dull the human interaction scenes and breaks the atmosphere. A little more imagination to the levels would also have been nice. Go here press button and fetch/find are a little old school and whilst fine in restricted use can get tiresome over the full length of the game. There are also times when the game felled very much in tandem with the quieter scenes of Doom 3. Instead of PDAs, exposition is given using computer terminals and for some random reason tape recorders?! Whilst I am fine with the notion of future generations unsung 80's style boom boxes as radios on a space station - not even people in the 80's kept a James T Kirk Style audio log on cassette next to them at all times just to hear back their own thoughts. Nonetheless, those who complain Alien Isolation is not the Alien game they are waiting for are obviously looking for the more action 'Aliens' style run and gun affair that we have seen many times rather than the classy and well researched survival horror that has been produced. IGN I'm looking at you!!!

Wash, rinse, repeat just without the wash and rinse. Like great sex with a shallow blonde destiny has got looks and great action but it really has nothing to say. Sure you'll go back from time to time but a 10 year relationship...? No way. If you do stay the difference its gonna cost you. You'll be disappointed with the climax... getting other involved in the PvP is risky... unless you're good you'll get left behind.

Have you ever heard the saying if it aint broke don't fix it... well this needs fixing because it is broke broke broke. This is a shame being as this is a really good game infact in everyway better than call of duty ghosts... except reliability. I say this after having the game from the day one. I have played through the Campaign 4 times... without ever reaching the end. This is not because I am incapable of beating the game but I am not likely to want to play through the entire game in one go. The save game mechanism does not work which effectively breaks the game. I either get back in and the entire save is gone or I have been put back a few missions. Do not be fooled that the latest patch fixes the bugs... it does not.

Let me state before you read this review that I have not been able to play this game. I want to play this game. I was ready to purchase and had been awaiting release until I found out about the always online DRM. Now I can't buy it because I can't play it in many areas that I travel to. I find Sim City 4 a good escape and a continuing puzzle for me to solve whilst i am on the road. An upgrade would have meant hours of boredom in hotels eleviated whilst I work away. But alas no EA not only wants my money it wants to get into my house and start controling where I can be and when I can play thisis no good. Therefore i have to score zero.

DmC: Devil May Cry - Vergil's Downfall9
Mar 7, 2013
I really liked the additional DLC. Much DLC feels like an expansion or annexe of the original game, however, this feels like a pseudo sequel which some will hate and some will like. I have no real idea what the obsession with the plot is in DMC. Some people think they are missing out on a stellar story line that continues from where DMC4 left off. Seriously, can anyone tell me what the hell this amazing story i am missing is? I have played all Devil May Crys and this is the first one ever to make sense. The others are so contrived and full of holes that you can't make head nor tail of them. Seriously WHY does Dante own a shop? WHO is Nero and why has he got Dantes powers? What the hell is the whole Trish/Gloria thing about... anyway on with the review... Hopefully people can stop worrying about the combat as it is quicker and more difficult; I would assume this is to please the 'die hard fans' but it is still accessible. The story is fine and the art work is as great as DMC... fully worth the price of admission.

DmC: Devil May Cry9
Mar 7, 2013
Firstly it's interesting to see how many people wrote poor day one reviews about a game that they clearly hadn't played. As time goes on there seems to be more and more positiveness about this game. I do feel however, that the public are doing a good job about voicing concerns over genuine issues that are plaguing gaming such as EA's always online DRM for Sim City or EA's Pay to win micro transactions... or just EA in general, however, it goes a bit far when we apply this to the colour of Dante's hair. Dante seems to have lost his Mojo, this is true. He also seems to have lost the ability to lock on to enemies, to be nice to people and to smile. This is where the negativity should end. Many of us who have played the game rather than the demo feel that DMC has been treated unjustly. Ninja Theory have done a very good job and technically it is a visual treat (stop whining about a 30fps cap if you really care get a TV with motion plus). The gameplay is fluid and complex. Resorting to the alleged button bashing that some 'hard core Devil May Cry' players seem to resort to will only get you as far as in previous devil may cry games (i.e. through human mode). The stand out point is the level design. Just Awesome. In a gaming world where we are getting some repetitive and generic level design, Ninja Theory have really though outside the box and provided some of the most original and mid bending level design in an action game to date. How this can be described as bland and unoriginal in some user reviews is beyond me... seriously check back over Devil May Cry 4 and look at how much back tracking you have to do through fortuna castle!! I also wonder about whether some of the negative die hard Devil May Cry fanboys actually played all the Devil May Cry series. To say that the gameplay is dumbed down from Devil May Cry 2 is just not true! In fact you may find that many of the same reviewers also complained about Nero in Devil May Cry 4, saying the action had been dumbed down which I enjoyed by the way... but I prefer DMC (5). The only true Devil May Cry games have been 1 and 3. The addition of triggers to instigate Angel or Demon Weapons is a genuis move, and i feel that adding enemies that require specific attacks was a good way of avoiding the button bashing that people believe they are doing. I feel that Capcom have suffered from a premature reboot. I truly believe that they could have churned out a continuation of the original series, however, to trash this game is to snub a great effort from a development team who have made a great game I just wish we could have a DMC line and a Devil May Cry continuation like Modern warfare and black ops... oh and vergils downfall is even better! The story comes into its own in the add on.

Zone of the Enders HD Collection8
Mar 6, 2013
Let's be clear. Do not buy Zone of the Enders if you are thinking of playing Zone of the Enders. This is not what you are here for. 2nd Runner however is essential classic gaming. It is the ONLY mech fighting game I have found that is worth it's salt. The action is smooth and grace full. The game allows you to feel empowered whilst fighting numbers of enemy mechs and makes you look good whilst doing it. The anime cutscenes are amongst the best in the business to date and the fusion of the Japanese Anime with a grace full yet frantic mech fighting game is perfect. Not many people will buy it... Not many people will know it even exists... but to play it is to be converted. I believe there is a new one in the pipeline... I hope so!

Devil May Cry HD Collection9
Mar 6, 2013
This is a great series and i was very happy when I found out they were making a HD collection. DMC1 is awesome, although, in retrospect it lacks some of the complexity of moves that the latter DMC's are enriched by.... I know it is because its the first, but I still felt like I should be able to do things that I couldn't. The only reason I marked this down was because of the inclusion of DMC 2 skip it it's not necessary. Oddly I find the redesign of Dante in DMC2 more jarring than the 'all new Emo Dante' in DMC 5... but clearly that's JUST me... DMC 3 is a great all rounder frustratingly difficult and complex, yet it all seems to come together with practice... I really think that some of the level design just wasn't up to par in DMC3 making the game harder than it should have been, but it seemed to work in it's favour. Maybe it was just clever.... It is a minor shame that DMC 4 is not on the disc but we can't have everything can we? DMC HD collection is not just a trip down memory lane. It's the conversion of hack 'n' slash into an art form. Frustratingly impressive.
