Heavy Rain8
Sep 16, 2019
I'm glad I went back and gave this a try after getting it for Free on PS+. The story and characters were engaging and kept me wanting to come back despite the horrible controls. Thankfully - Heavy Rain doesnt rely on controls too much outside of QTEs or it would have been a deal breaker. Enjoyable from start to finish - great twist ending. Would recommend to anyone for a change of pace.

inFamous: Second Son7
Sep 16, 2019
I was really excited for this game. I really enjoyed the first two on PS3 - but something about this one just didnt click with me. The graphics and setting were great - and I actually liked the main character despite that being one of the biggest issues critics had with the game. Traversal was fun - and I liked exploring. Something about the combat really turned me off and I cant put my finger on it. By the end of the 10 hour campaign I was ready to be done. Typically in an open world I want to check boxes and extend the life of the game - wasnt the case here. I still appreciate it - but unfortunately it fell a little short for me. Still a solid 7.

Space Hulk2

Got this as a free PS Plus game a few months ago and being a fan of GW and their Universe I was excited to give it a try. I'm a fan of Tactical turn based games - and in every way this one misses the mark. The game is slow, boring and infuriating. There were multiple missions that took extremely long just for the sake of being long. I spent entire turns just waiting for more enemies to spawn. To make matters worse - every movement, selection, etc... was painfully slow. The Vita had a tough time with this game - which is surprising because there isn't much to the game itself. I'd avoid this.

Assassin's Creed III Remastered8

I don't understand all of the hate for this game. I played it for the first time over the last few weeks and really enjoyed my time with it. Conner isn't a bad character - the story is pretty good. The thing that I really enjoyed was the setting. I thought that alone carried the game compared to some of the other AC games. I'm glad I went back to this.

The music and visuals make this game a must play. Its definietly not something you are going to sink a bunch of time into but at this point the low price point and low demand of time i'd recommend everyone with a ps3/4 give it a try. I really enjoyed my time with it and look forward to going through it again sometime in the future.

Call of Duty: Ghosts8
May 8, 2019
I dont understand the hate for this game. What it does - it does well. COD: Ghosts is a fun summer blockbuster shooter with good graphics and production value. The short campaign was worth the $25 cost for entry a few years after release. Most of the negative reviews are people who hate Call of Duty just to hate on Call of Duty

Valkyria Chronicles Remastered10
Apr 18, 2019
Valkyria Chonicles was a game I stumbled into on the PS3. When i played it years ago - it quickly became one of my favorite games of all time. Whenever playing it again on the PS4 recently I quickly remembered what made this game so awesome. The tactical battles are challenging and rewarding. You rarely feel like you've been cheated but if you make a bad move your squad will suffer. I enjoyed playing it differently this time around, focusing on different classes than i did on my prior playthrough. The setting and graphic design are awesome - the storybook look is unique and a welcome change from the norm. While I'm not a fan of typical JRPG storylines - this one isnt too corny and has a story that is easy to follow and enjoyable. With added trophy support and all of the DLC this is a must play for fans of tactical RPGs.

This game isnt good. But its not as bad as some people make it out to be. I've played this on both the PS3 and the Vita. The PS3 version blows this out of the water -you can tell the development team made this one as an afterthought. The graphics and sound quality are sub-par. There are a ton of features missing. That being said - I played this while traveling for work and still did enjoy my time with it. I can admit it was a bad game - but it was fun. Something I'll go back to in order to get the platinum trophy.

Tearaway9

This game is wonderfully weird. I played it just a few weeks ago to completion and was extremely impressed by the level design, atmosphere and the usage of all of the features on the Vita. One of my most enjoyable experiences playing on my Vita - I plan to return to this game in the future. There is a little minor puzzle solving and some collectathon features - but all in all this is a game the features pretty basic platforming features. That being said - there is no other game like this out there and something most gamers should try.

I've never given anything a 0 before and didnt plan to. This game showed promise but I get a CE-34878-0 Error everytime I get to a certain part of the game about an hour in. I've tried every troubleshooting thing I can find online - which ultimately allowed me to progress about 10 minutes. I've owned my PS4 for a year and never ran into this error in the past. Unfortunately I'm not going to play this buggy mess - I'll just have to continue hope and pray that it only occurs on this game.

Life is Strange7
Feb 20, 2019
I really enjoyed my time with Life Is Strange. The story was compelling enough to keep me engaged throughout the five episodes. There were enough twists to keep it from being completely predictable and the plot takes a pretty dark turn toward the end that wasnt really expected. The choices made you really think about your decision and at first I put a lot of thought into decisions until i realized that it really didnt matter to the story arc at all. The rewind puzzle solving was a nice feature that kept things fresh. I would have scored this an 8 - but the last chapter, in my opinion, really fell apart and was all over the place. I think the addition of some out of place stealth scenarios and a very jarring story line left a me wishing they wouldnt have tried to change the formula up too much. In the end - for a game i spend $3.00 on i was not expecting much. It was a nice filler between action games. Would recommend.

Killzone: Shadow Fall5
Jan 25, 2019
I really wanted to like Killzone: Shadow Fall. I went into the game with high expectations after hearing from some people it was an early gen gem. After the second mission I could tell I wouldn't be having a great experience with the game. The campaign feels like a very generic early ps3 shooter with no compelling story. The added mechanic of the robot companion felt forced and clunky. Every time I started to enjoy parts of the game it forced me into some horrible free-fall segment which caused me to die over and over. In the end - there was some enjoyment but too many issues for me to recommend this to anyone. By far my least favorite game on PS4 to date.

Rayman Origins6
Jan 21, 2019
I liked Rayman Origins for the most part throughout my experience with the game; however, the game's charm wore thin as time went on. Its a pretty game and it controls well but I felt it all became redundant around 8 hours in. I may go back to pick up some collectibles later on but I don't really know if I'll end up buying Legends.

Soul Sacrifice7
Dec 14, 2018
I really enjoyed my time with Soul Sacrifice. The game play was enjoyable and the customization kept me coming back. The initial 2-3 hours of playing, I was extremely lost and frustrated with the game. Once I realized what I was doing it was easy to get **** in. The gameplay is perfect for the Vita - quick enemy engagements that last 5-10 minutes. Figuring out how to beat easy archfiend in different ways made the game enjoyable and kept it fresh. The game play loop did start to get repetitive to me and because I had no interest in the story I felt like the last 3-5 hours were a bit ****. Overall - I'd recommend this to anyone with the platform.

Horizon Zero Dawn9
Nov 12, 2018
Horizon Zero Dawn is a fantastic game in every regard. When I started playing the game I was drawn in by the story and fresh setting. I have never played a game with a post-apocalyptic setting that is set so far in the future. The setting pulled me through the first 5 hours of the game as I found the combat cumbersome and frustrating. Once I got used to the mechanics - combat is what pulled me through the rest of the game. I enjoyed setting up traps and being strategic whenever approaching enemies. Knowing that if I didn't execute there was a chance of alerting a ton of machines always kept things interesting. The graphics are fantastic - character models and the world look amazing - this forced my hand to play with the photo mode from time to time. The only negative I found was a little bloating of the story toward the end. Outside of that - this game is an awesome experience and worth a play through for anyone that owns a PS4

Halloween Forever8
Nov 5, 2018
I am not typically an 8 bit platform retro guy. Got this game because it was $4.99 and needed something mindless between titles. Spent about a week with the game and was surprised - its very enjoyable. The world is fun and doesn't take itself seriously - its not unforgivingly hard and its a quick pick up and play title. I'd pick it up for the price.

The Walking Dead: A Telltale Games Series - Game of the Year Edition7
Oct 11, 2018
The Walking Dead on the Vita was an excellent experience. I enjoyed the story and was glad that I jumped into this after years of hearing about it. The decisions and dialog are great - I was often thinking about the game after I had put it down. Obviously the gameplay isn't a strong point - but the story and environment helps you overcome the short comings there. Some of the issues I had with the game stem from what seems to be limitations with the Vita hardware. There were points in the game that I died a few times because of major lag / response from the Vita. There was nothing I could do to combat a zombie fast enough to live through a situation and found myself having to play a spot a few times despite knowing what I had to do. There were also areas of bad slow down and framerate skipping - which typically doesn't bother me - but was bad enough to make me want to put it down from time to time. All in - this game would have been an 8 had I played it on PS3/4. Technical issues pulled it back a point.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown8
Sep 10, 2018
Xcom has been my favorite game on Vita so far. The style of gameplay is perfect for jumping in and out. I would be rating this game a 9 if it were not for technical issues and loading times. Unfortunately those bog down the performance of this game - there were constantly times that I couldn't see my characters or my enemies health. Outside of the few technical issues this is a brutal strategy game that rewards you for playing your cards right and thinking through your turns. I loved putting thought into my pre-mission/between mission team build up. There is plenty of squad customization that allows you to build your group to your play style preferences. I look forward to playing Xcom 2 and hope they continue with this franchise.

Far Cry 37
Aug 20, 2018
I'll start by mentioning that I didn't play this on the previous generation so it was my first exposure to Far Cry 3 - and any Far Cry game. I am glad I picked this up as it was a cheap and enjoyable single player experience. It holds true to the typical Ubisoft open world map mechanic - you have to climb towers to expose map areas and capture bases to secure territory from enemies. This game mechanic is fun but there have obviously been improvements upon it since 2012 when it was originally released. The game play felt a little dated - the cover system was non-existent and falling from any decent height was a death sentence. On top of that up until the game was patched (halfway through my play through) the aiming and driving (in particular) were horrible. Once this was fixed it made my overall experience much better. The story was enjoyable. Nothing to take seriously - but a somewhat relatable situation where your average Joe gets thrown into a nightmare scenario where he has to rescue his friends. I enjoyed the over the top acting and dialog. There is enough here to warrant my further exploration into the series - especially considering this was a 6 year old game. I look forward to going back and getting a platinum trophy and playing the other games.

Resistance: Burning Skies4
Jul 15, 2018
I got Resistance pretty late - I just finished it a few days ago and I can safely say that even had I gotten it at launch I would have been unimpressed. This title would have been solid game - on the PS2. While the shooting mechanics were good the rest of the game is sorely behind the times. There were countless graphical glitches (characters randomly appearing, guns/enemies sticking through objects), a very underwhelming atmosphere, and a really bad story. I would not recommend this game to anyone unless they are a trophy **** a very easy platinum.

Mordheim: City of the Damned9
Jul 12, 2018
This is not a game for casual gamers or people new to Mordheim. As a player of the table top game I think it holds true to the heart of the game. Your battle can all go south on the roll of a dice and you could lose characters you are attached to. There is no saving the same and reloading so what done is done. This is probably going to scare quite a few people away but its a welcome change from other games out there. Your decisions have long term repercussions and you have to think about a strategy in every battle. I have enjoyed my 15-20 hours with the game and anticipate dumping a ton more time into it in between titles. The campaign missions are the biggest drawback from the game - they **** - but luckily they are almost entirely optional.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag7
Jun 25, 2018
I went into playing AC4 with low expectations seeing that its nearing 5 years old. To an extent I was correct - the graphics and gameplay do seem dated. That being said this was a great change of pace from the last few AC games I played (way behind on the series which is why I'm going back). The setting was refreshing and really made the game enjoyable. The Caribbean was nicely done and exploring remote islands was very enjoyable. The naval combat was my highlight of the gameplay. When traversing through the different cities in the game I regularly got frustrated with the controls as Edward climbed up walls I didn't intend for him to and took leaps at bad times. The combat is largely unchanged from prior AC games - so this feels very much the same. I love AC for the historical elements and different settings - but I need to take long breaks between playing because they all feel the same to me. I look forward to continuing the story - but I'll be taking a break once again.

Gravity Rush5
Apr 25, 2018
I know I am way behind on playing this but was still looking forward to it. Based on the overwhelming positive reviews I figured this was a cant miss Vita title. The most fun I had with the game was flying around collecting gems. The story and combat were both severely lacking - toward the end of the 10 hour campaign I started finding myself looking forward to finishing the game so I didn't have to keep dealing with the combat. I play my Vita while I travel for work - there have been a few Vita games that have kept my interest while I'm at home - this isn't one of them. While there is enjoyment to be found - its not something I would recommend to anyone.

Assassin's Creed III: Liberation7
Apr 19, 2018
Assassin's Creed Liberation is stays true to its AC roots. This is a great way to play the series on the go - but it doesn't really stand up to it's console siblings. The graphics are great as far as the vita goes - there are almost no frame rate issues I can remember. The setting and characters were enjoyable - but the story is almost non-existent. I needed to refer to plot guides online to understand what the heck was actually going on in the game. I was happy with the way the game felt - I am typically not a fan whenever you are required to use the vita motion controls or back touch screen which isn't forced on you in this game. I typically play my Vita when I am traveling and this game helped time pass on the plane. Don't really feel the need to revisit it - but I would recommend a play through to any Vita owner.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor9
Apr 19, 2018
Shadow of Mordor is a game that has some storyline issues and a few camera nuisances that are easy to overlook. The game was extremely enjoyable even as a title that is pushing 4 years old. I played through it for the first time over the last couple of weeks and really enjoyed the combat, the setting and the nemesis system. Hunting specific Orcs kept the game entertaining throughout - I was always on my toes because I didn't know if a strong captain would show up in the middle of a mission. The combat is fluid and easy to grasp after a while - as you get upgrades you'll start to adjust the way you play and feel like you are able to dominate even larger hordes. The story is disjointed and was not at all the reason I kept coming back - but outside of the that I have a hard time nitpicking on anything else with the game. I am still looking forward to going back and finishing the DLC and collecting the rest of the trophies in the game. Would recommend to anyone that likes action games.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End9
Mar 19, 2018
Uncharted 4 is a great experience. Everyone that owns a PS4 should definitely dive into this game (and its predecessors) without any hesitation. ND brings the cast and story to life with fantastic graphics and terrific voice acting. The action is very similar to previous games - run and gun fight sequences separated by climbing mechanics. The checkpoints are close together so the game is very forgiving in the case of a misstep. By the end I became invested in the story and was disappointed it came to an end. The only thing I didn't really like was the length of a few of the cut scenes and the fact that mechanically it really felt like the last two. Loved the game - the survival mode is a reason I'll keep coming back and enjoying.
