The Recruit (2022)

Despite only having six episodes, The Recruit season 2 works as one giant thrill ride. I never thought the show was rushing through events, as season 1 also succeeded with a faster pace than other spy shows like Michael Fassbender's The Agency.

Stylish, smart and energetic, “The Recruit” is involving, but fairly plain-spoken: Unlike series that generate technical and political gibberish until one’s mind clouds over, what happens over the eight episodes remains easy to follow, despite its intricate narrative track.

It’s a potentially star-making performance from an actor [Noah Centineo] we’ll be seeing more. A combination workplace comedy/espionage thriller, “The Recruit” zips along from place to place (Vienna, Phoenix, Langley), leaving blithe spirits and dead bodies in its wake.

An improved second season patches up a few rough edges in Netflix’s enjoyable spy romp, and does so by repositioning its jocular, off-the-cuff spirit in mostly a new setting, South Korea.

Overall, The Recruit is certainly a fun ride with some great action and an interesting story. But it’s unpolished, and could benefit from better dialogue and more nuanced relationships between characters.

"The Recruit" is far too amused with its wordiness in sharing the stuff that happens between cubicles at Langley, and it kills what little momentum the series gathers.

Whatever cutting satire or righteous anger The Recruit might have to offer is badly diluted over eight bloated hours — lost amid paper-thin characters, flimsy twists and a wishy-washy tone. What it turns out instead is a piece of content so forgettable, the CIA wouldn’t have to lift a finger to disappear it from public memory.

Really interesting and good story, also great actors, sadly worst production as usual, they cancelled the serie at 2nd season like a bunch of idiots, no words...

This is great TV to me. I don't believe it's trying to present itself as anything other than what the trailer shows. I guess some people will expect a full on "Bourne" thriller and in that instance they will be disappointed. But it has easily enough of that to keep me going and I binged it. I think it has enough suspense, thrills, action and humour to hold you during and leave you wanting after. Noah Centineo is bloody good though it's solid acting on all counts, good dialogue and story and great locations and direction. There's not much really new here but truly that'd be a hard ask these days. I believe that that is why this a great show. It somehow feels fresh still and thoroughly enjoyable. I am really looking forward to the next season. Please?

It's entertaining. I generally dislike any show with CIA propaganda, but this show was funny and had a lot of action. The acting can be off at times, and the plot is pretty ridiculous, but that's kind of the point. I recommend it for a good action/drama/comedy.

Fun show that doesn't take itself too seriously. Characters are generally likeable and the story kept me interested enough to finish. It doesn't break new ground by any means but I would suggest it overall.

Parmi la nébuleuse de séries disponibles chez Netwoke-Netflop-Netslop, on peut tomber plus qu’à son tour dans la fosse à purin des sous produits bâclés, très mal faits et lamentables, des machins bricolés par des stagiaires et des incapables ou bien un mélange de tout cela : une daube de série bricolée par un stagiaire incapable… et très con aussi. D’ailleurs, d’emblée, le ton hystérique et bouffon de la série frappe immédiatement : on sent nos neurones sévèrement mis à mal qui protestent énergiquement. Des zones du cerveau s’éteignent en cascade, de plus en plus devant cette boue, ce cloaque, cette bouse épouvantable de stupidité ! il manque les rires enregistrés en plus ! qu’est-ce que c’est que ce travail, franchement, c’est n’importe quoi ! Le blaireau de base qui officie dans cette méga connerie a une belle tête de vainqueur et le rôle de l’emploi, assurément. Il a gagné le méga gala de cons annuel plusieurs fois de suite et c’est même pour ça qu’on l’a recruté, con l’a recruté, pardon. Putain de con, il faut le voir pour le croire, c’est un con de compétition, de con-pet-tition, carrément. Devant cet « avocat » embauché par la CIA (sont-ils tombés si bas que ça à Langley…?), ce crétin diplômé (d’un master des études de haute connerie à mongolos) est impossible à suivre : il nous précipite dans un abyme insondable de méga golios, et pour dire la vérité, si l’on con-tinuait à regarder, l’on risquerait quelques ruptures d’anévrisme en cascade après une implosion intra-cranienne. Car, faut-il le rappeler, sans cesse, encore et encore : la connerie tue, mesdames et messieurs !
