Jim Henson and his crew decided to start a show that was not just for kids, but adults can enjoy it! This idea resulted in the Muppet Show, which has become popular for many! The Muppets are trying to put on a fantastic variety show at their theatre every week, but almost every time something goes wrong for them. Kermit the Frog was chosen to be the host and main character due to his popularity, and we got a variety of other great characters including Gonzo, Fozzie, Miss Piggy, and more including The Swedish Chef, Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, Dr Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker, and Statler and Waldorf. Each episode of the show includes a featured special guest star. While I’m not familiar with most of them since they’re before my generation, there are some that stand out including Elton John, Steve Martin and John Cleese. The show consists of musical numbers and sketches including some performed by the episode’s guest star. There are some great recurring sketches like Veterinarian’s Hospital, Pigs In Space and Muppet Labs! A lot of them end off with Statler and Waldorf making a comment, and they just make it even funnier. There are so many jokes and well made puns throughout the show, which kind of give the muppets their own distinctive type of humour that can be appreciated by anyone! The Muppets still hold up well to this day and are so popular that almost any celebrity should consider doing something with them!
