This TV show is nothing short of sacrilege to Tolkien fans. I attempted season 1, but I soon found myself unable to watch anymore.

Completely and utterly offensive, disrespectful and subversive towards the source material and its author. Poor writing. Even worse acting. Wasted potential. Wasted resources. Wasted time.

Amazon taking a page out of Disney’s playbook by butchering one of the most beloved series in modern history. Truly a joke and I hope who ever had a big hand making this show never finds a job anywhere in the industry.

Just no. There's nothing else to add. They did EVERYTHING wrong and Prof Tolkien is turning in his grave.

Super lame,super gay,super garbage.
They coulda made something good but nahhh.
Galadriel looks like a foot had a child (cant act either.). Plus every dude seems gay as the day is long. Pathetic excuse for hobbits, trashbag gandalf, lesbian sauron and a Celebrimbor that looks and talks like he closes his kitchen drawers with his hip.. it really is a modern septic tank.
Not worth watching the trailer nevermind the show.
It's worse than you've heard, don't waste your time if you value yourself, leave it to the losers that somehow enjoy this turd.

I would never watch because of the cast choice. .............................

Garbage. Pure garbage. Elf races that didn’t exist and weren’t in the Samarilian, non existent plot, absolutely horrid dialogue, just an all around utter disappointment. Too much forced diversity and very little story around the rings at all. The show pretty much just devolved into a kind of absurdly diverse medieval fantasy female soap opera.

This was so GD awful it boggles the imagination!!!!! I doubt the writers actually read any of Tolkien's work, just hijacked the names of characters. Certainly this mess has nothing to do with Tolkien's work beyond those names. Not sure I've hated a show more, ever. THE ISTARI ARRIVED IN MIDDLE EARTH IN THE YEAR 1,000 OF THE THIRD AGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The as@h0(es who made this couldn't make something without Gandalf. God, I hated this.

This is a terrific extension of the LOTR universe that provides meaningful backstories for many of the main characters, factions and races.

Visually fantastic, it's an overwhelming Tolkien-Feeling from the first moment. Very consistent music, too. An overall great show with a lot of sensitivity for Tolkiens work. The focus is on storytellling and narratively expanding the fantasy world of middle-earth.
Exspecially great: the ever mixing and untangling lines of the many charming characters, some from the books, some additional. Can't wait to unfold in the coming seasons.

Abysmal. Not a single redeeming quality. From acting to writing, costumes, VFX, music, editing, or everything else, nothing really hits the mark. I had no expectations and was still disappointed. In terms of production quality and creative choices, absolutely shameful in every way, especially in comparison to related fantasy IPs (LOTR, Harry Potter, etc.) or similar TV epics (Game of Thrones, House of Dragons, etc). Yikes!

This has been the worst experience in my 45 years of existence. I love the silmarillion and how Christopher Tolkien put it together in many years of Hard work, to make Sense after all in Terra of timeline and content consistency. The hard **** it now got. With A plot leading nowhere, despite the unbelievable Beauty Tolkien has put into his work is an abonination. Never have I Seen a show with a bln dollars spent that has been as miserable. The Story is complete **** compared to the Great lore tha Tolkien has put on place. The wokenes of this feat is terrifying at the least. Unless we make a Movie about the 2nd world war with **** being a black person this all is **** effortless ****. Story: disasterous; characters: as lame as can be in the worlds bad story: screenplay and effects: mediocre to the point of supporting bad writing with „bang“ „Boom“ „bang“ where it needs to be to distract idiots that dont mind missing contend… Full Desaster and the grestest waste of money given the great and super easy convenient things that were tressures ready for the takingw!

That s ladies and gents how you kill a legendary franchise with an amazing lore and characters ! The story ?so boring i felt asleep watching the show.
The cast is lame and do they know how to act? My son s school spectacle was far better acted.
Wow you did good on cgi but you RUINED the Lotr saga with your poor and lame choices.
I hope the showrunner will be sentence to jail Would be a decent punishement to be such ****

Im convinced the $1,000,000,000 spent on this was a massive money laundering scheme. The story is bad. The acting is bad. The writing is bad. The cast is bad. The décors are bad. The wigs and makeup are bad. They managed to focus so much on CGI and yet it’s one of the least immersive things I’ve watched. It’s BAS

I was so excited about this and really wanted to enjoy it. The imagery and actors were beautiful but the story - what story? What plot? At the end I felt I had wasted my time. I attempted to return for the next season but could not get past the intro. I did not like this at all.

Terrible fan fiction adaptation. Tolkien would not have approved at all. It feels the showrunners did not read the books and new little to nothing to the world of Middle Earth.

I'm really disappointed with this show.
The Promises were really high, but Tolkien would be not in the side of this show. Others show proposed by Prime Video had more personality and charisma, but not the chance to get through. In my opinion 'the Rings of power' don't have the value what Amazon give to it.

IT'S ****
Review of Rings of Power: A Complete MessRings of Power **** big time, no ifs or buts. There’s not a single aspect that lives up to what you’d expect from a show like this. The way time flows is confusing and poorly handled, making it impossible to understand what’s going on. Characters that are supposed to be millennia-old, with deep and epic backgrounds, are treated like teenagers overwhelmed by hormones, acting shallow and **** script feels more like a soap opera full of teenage drama than a serious fantasy story. The pacing is uneven, with slow, boring parts alternating with forced and unengaging scenes. The special effects aren’t impressive either, often looking cheap and plastic, which completely kills any immersion or sense of realism in the **** short, Rings of Power is a disappointment on every level: confusing, shallow, and utterly incapable of delivering the grandeur and depth that such a powerful setting deserves. A total waste of potential.

Polishing a turd will not transform it into gold. No matter how much they spend on cutting-edge CGI, it's still a turd. Almost all problems this show has stem from amateurish writing. This show is constantly undermining and outright ignoring its own established timeline, logic, character motivations and rules. Nothing makes sense, because the show tells us one thing but shows something contradicting it completely. It's just bad writing, and the script should've been checked & edited before advancing to production. Completely novice mistakes in storytelling and establishing an in-universe narrative that makes sense from character & worldbuilding perspective.

Conflicted. So much potential but the multiple storyline is often damaging. That being said, incredible performances, particularly Charlie Vickers. His performance as Sauron reaches 10/10.

This series is a slap in the face to all of J. R. R. Tolkien's work. Nothing here holds together, ideas for scenes are stolen from P. Jackson's films. The entire budget went to special effects, when it should have gone to the scriptwriters (who turn out to be just big ignoramuses who decided to reinvent the wheel). A few actors really tried, but it wasn't enough to save this 300 million piece of crap. In my opinion, Amazon wanted to embezzle money. Because I don't believe that after test screenings someone said: "This is great!" I DO NOT RECOMMEND!! You'd better spend your time reading "The Silmarillion"

Incredibly bad dialogues and those familiar with the "Lord of the Rings" lore should stay away from this trash as much as possible. The actress playing Galadriel is absolutely miscast.

Sub-standard writing which led to massive plot holes, generally boring story lines and terrible character development (if you could even call it that) made this series incredibly tough to sit through. Would not recommend if you are a fan of the book or the movies unless you enjoy hate watching.

Rings of Power is an embarrassing misstep for both J.R.R. Tolkien's legacy and his devoted fans. Rather than honoring the depth and richness of the original works, this series appears more interested in checking diversity boxes than in crafting a compelling narrative. The forced inclusivity feels contrived and disingenuous, seemingly aimed at a modern audience that doesn't align with the essence of Tolkien's stories. Characters lack the complexity and depth that made the originals memorable, resulting in a watered-down version of Middle-earth that frustrates longtime admirers. This adaptation is a disappointing attempt to reshape a fantasy classic into a bland reflection of current social trends, ultimately alienating those who have cherished Tolkien's world for generations.

Not a review bomb. I love Tolkien's lore, read a lot of the books, seen the movies a million times at this point and played a ton of games. This show however, is a **** stain on Tolkien's legacy. So much incompetent writing, so many idiotic characters, constant butchering of the lore and so much stuff that is so grating. I stomached S1 just alright but S2 was worse in any possible way, from acting, to writing, to illogical things that happened that no sane person would alow to transpire. The showrunners are just a bunch of talentless morons, it's clear as day that they did this show for money and no other reason. Lord of the Rings is a classic good versus evil story that was written in the 50s, there is so much modern spin and wokeness garbage in this it's unbearable for me. Having several love stories (I counted at least 4) that has nothing to do with Middle-Earth lore is just stupid. Amazon, cancel this show. If you want to do your own show, then do you own show! Don't take something that was already good and near perfect and trying to change things, you're not making it better, you're making it worse.
2/10, only reason it doesn't land on 1 or 0 is because the graphics and effects look amazing and the music by Bear McReary is fantastic. But it's not the reason I wanted to see something Tolkien related. I won't tune in for S3 if it happens, you lost me. This show is utter crap, God awful, utterly terrible and you should be ashamed for it

Unfortunately, this adaptation falls short of expectations. The production values seem surprisingly low given the reported budget, with unconvincing set designs and costumes that fail to capture the grandeur of Tolkien's world. The creative choices often feel misguided, as if catering to contemporary trends rather than honoring the source material's timeless qualities. While diversity in casting can be a strength, here it sometimes feels forced rather than organic to the story. The writing struggles to recapture the depth and nuance of Tolkien's work, instead relying heavily on familiar plot points that suggest a 'play it safe' mentality from the studio. Given the rich potential of The Silmarillion, it's disappointing to see this opportunity squandered. One hopes that future adaptations might approach Tolkien's expansive mythology with more reverence for the source material and a clearer artistic vision. Fans of Middle-earth deserve an adaptation that truly does justice to Tolkien's intricate world-building and profound themes.

Great visuals, terrible script. It seems like they've spent all the budget for the characterization, cgi, scenarios and everything related to creating the ambience. There's no doubt about the superb images produces by the show. However, none of this matters when the script is so terribly written, and the story doesn't make any sense. I don't care if it follows the official story of tolkien, as long as they tell a good narrative, which doesn't happen. The caracters's motivations are unbelievable and I could care less about any of them (maybe prince durin). Sometimes I caught myself thinking that I was the one not liking tv anymore, but them I remembered the many shows that, despite some problems, do much more with a lot less, because they have, during most of the time, a good compelling story, even without following the official lore (e.g. the boys, the penguin, invincible, house of the dragon). This show is obviously worse than the lotr trilogy, and makes me value the hobbit trilogy (the latter still has a more coherent and entertaining pace than rings of power, all problems considered. In conclusion, I'm very sorry for the lost opportunity to tell a good story. I guess the journey is beyond salvation now.

While there was great potential and resources as a literary text, a very large budget and opportunities, and the set and shooting team were quite good, the project could only be carried out with such a poor script, which jeopardizes the whole project and dissappoints Middle Earth fans world wide.
