Kwok’s script does a good job of centering this narrative without hitting us over the head with claims of diversity and representation, the balance integral to its success. It’s a unique character inhabiting a unique world: the perfect ingredients for an exciting story.

Miranda Kwok and showrunner Melissa Carter have adapted an original Argentine series into a drama with decently complex cultural politics. ... Here's a TV series that's pro-immigrant, pro-feminist, pro-stem cell research, anti-racist, and very cheesy. The Cleaning Lady mixes so many different things together, which is how you make a mess. It's also how you make a melting pot.

This series is fresh and hip and so good it keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire hour. If you looking for something new to watch, I highly recommend this show.

The Cleaning Lady took me by surprise. I went in expecting a typical psychological thriller, but what I got was a slow-burning, emotionally layered horror story that stays with you long after the credits roll. The film does a great job exploring obsession, trauma, and isolation without over-explaining or leaning too hard on **** performances—especially by the actress who plays Shelly—are haunting. She’s equal parts vulnerable and terrifying, and you genuinely feel torn between pity and dread. The pacing is deliberately slow, but it builds tension in a way that feels intentional rather than drawn out. After watching, I couldn’t help but reflect on how we often overlook the people around us who quietly enter our homes and lives—especially those we hire for everyday things like cleaning. It reminded me of the respectful, professional team we’ve used from Quick Clean Chicago ****/house-cleaning-chicago/ a stark contrast that really made the story hit **** you’re into psychological horror with emotional depth and just the right amount of gore, The Cleaning Lady is definitely worth a watch. Not your average scary movie, and that’s what makes it memorable.

The show touches on so many topics that can make for really compelling drama, but there seems to be a penchant for the show to default to action scenes and “scary cartel” tropes more often than not. ... We’re OK with a more action-oriented, good guy-bad guy show because Yung and the rest of the cast do a good job with the material they’re given.

[Her boss] strangely does not immediately kill her when she gives him guff.

Preposterous but occasionally gripping melodrama. [17 - 30 Jan 2022, p.9]

“The Cleaning Lady” has good intentions, but is far too derivative to form a compelling series. Yung is a star, as is Millan, but the two women are smothered by the soapy (pun intended) issues of a criminal underworld that feels like Mafia 101.

The concept here isn’t bad but the execution is another story as the writers pull out all the stops to manipulate the emotions of their viewers in ways that alternate between annoying and exploitative.

Absolutely infuriating main character. Very strange writing. How are you supposed to feel with a MC that does nothing but bring trouble to people and then just simply cries "but my poor sick son" to justify all the **** she does. Absolutely nonsensical. Couldve been a good show and premise but absolutely catastrophic writing.

I thought season one was really good. Then season two I had to force myself to finish all the episodes. The whole season was about Luca about to die, but not dying about to die not dying about to die not dying, and I found the main characters’ acting skills, not so great Thoney. Everyone else I thought acted pretty good, but I think even the kid Lucas started getting bored with always always being close to dying lol. Not sure I’m going to watch any more of it because I’m tired of the plot line already they ruined it with season two.

The first few shows were pretty good. But it's quickly gone down the "soapy" drain hole. I'm done. I gave two stars because it is very well acted. It's just that the scripts, the drama and character interactions are not very believable. It could have been good if it focused on just one thing, but this tries to throw every drama issue and trope in to it's first season.
