At first I had given up on the show after two episodes but decided to continue on till the end. It did not get any better and in some aspects became worse. The overall story could have been done well as it is an interesting premise. But due to nonsensical writing and unlikable characters this did not pan out. The only character that I enjoyed somewhat was Charles. Some of the fight scenes were done well while others were awful. For this being a comedy I never laughed once during the entire show. Tense or sad moments being broken up by badly written jokes took me out of a lot of scenes. Definitely a pass and a bad way to kick off the year.

Loved this show. Likeable characters, engaging story and great fighting scenes. Especially loved them displaying asian quirks and promoting asian culture. Even my wife loved it

L’art de la comédie plus ou moins loufoque ou gentiment ironique est décidément difficile ! et poutant, la série y parvient assez brillammant pendant… les deux premiers épisodes… puis commence à caler au troisième, hélas… Et à partir de là, c’est la Bérézina pour la famille Sun ! l’intrigue qui surnageait à peine se met à couler à pic. Les comédiens en font de plus en plus… dans l’hystéro-bouffonnerie. Ils sont de plus en plus débiles, ça en devient carrément… effrayant ! En outre, Mamie Yeoh devrait se calmer avec les charcudocs : si elle continue comme ça, elle va ressembler à Madonna. Elle devrait arrêter aussi le véganisme, elle est maigre à faire peur. Ou alors, elle prépare en avance son rôle de la Momie ? (le retour de la revanche). Pour autant, en dehors de la comédie (un peu tarantineuse aussi, par moments), on doit saluer quelques bastons étonnamment bien faites (pour une série) ainsi qu’une réalisation soignée. Hélas (encore), la stupidité qui devient générale et de plus en plus généralisée, a certainement raison de notre patience, laquelle n’est certainement pas infinie. Aussi avons-nous arrêté avant la fin et rendu notre verdict : c’est 3, Monsieur le Président.

Good story, good acting, good action, fun, way, way better than most series I’ve watched recently. Netflix made again a huge mistake canceling too soon a great show. I hope intelligence and competence overcome laziness and this great asset is recovered

A promising premise but ends up quite flat. Did not live up to its potential in my opinion.

Some good bits some bad bits. Scripting is pretty poor and for something thats supposed to be funny i barely laughed. Maybe the comedy is calling a character "chairleg" or "sleepy chan" Fight scenes are well done

This was pretty good. Michelle Yeoh is good, as usual. The interaction of the family reunion and the dynamics of the family from beginning to end is interesting. The switching from the actors speaking Chinese and English isn't disorienting at all. We'd say: "this series is well worth watching."

Love the cast. Perfect. Two Thumbs Up. Action and Laugh Driven. The Brother's Sun, starring Michele Yeoh as the ultimate Asian mom of two boys, a nerd and an international mobster obsessed with baking, is on Netflix. The characters are well-rounded and well-written. Based in Los Angeles, in Coastal SoCal English with a smidge of Mandarin and Korean, there's the ultimate churro, baking shows, awesome Kung Fu, T-Rex blowup dinosaurs, Cal State San Gabriel, nerds, and mobsters. Fun, Funny, Laugh out Roaring Tiger Loud!

One of the best series i have ever seen. Incredibly intresting universe,characters with amazing backstory and insane Action scenes. Must Watch.

After a Taiwanese gangster is shot, his assassin son (Justin Chien) travels to LA to protect his mother (Michell Yeoh) and brother (Sam Song Li). Thus begins the combo of martial arts action, family bonding and dark humor. The fight scenes are well staged, although they get repetitive. The family connection gives the series its dramatic depth. The humor (which diminishes in later eps) is primarily thanks to Yeoh's character. Actually, it's Yeoh's tough slyness and vulnerability that makes this show worth watching. As with so many current series, this could have benefited from trimming to keep the pace up. Even so, there are enjoyable brawls and adequate character interaction to make it moderately entertaining. (Eight one-hour eps)
