There are just so many bombshells, so many characters who could have walked from the pages of Flann O’Brien or Truman Capote. It’s In Cold Blood meets Father Ted: a blood-streaked yarn that is at times too heartbreaking to watch and too weird to be true.

Netflix has assembled a compelling film, but they have no excuse not to. ... The interviewees offer little in the way of clipped stoicism, and lot of Gothic lyricism. Sophie had a macabre streak, we learn, and was visited by premonitions of her death.

Well presented documentary about one of the strangest murders in Irish history. I know West Cor and it's chock a block full of the oddest bunch of eccentrics you’ll find anywhere. The series is short and uses the familiar method of previous archive footage plus interview. Occasionally they prompt the interviewee which takes a bit from the overall feel. Remind yourself though that they come at this with their own viewpoint which even unconsciously will be seen on the screen. Apparently, Bailey is taking the makers to court regarding his segments which he never gave permission to be used in the main body of the series. Meant only to be in the trailer. It's all very strange and very fascinating.
