But as for the overall approach, it's hard to nick any latenighter that actually tries to say something and doesn't have a sidekick or a bandleader. From the Twin Tower reconstruction efforts to duct tape mania to his ceremonial kick in the ass after ABC dumped him, Maher alone is ready to take on the universe, and that's a gutsier fight than most.

Even for many liberals there is something inherently silly about actors' staking out a high moral ground from Bel Air mansions and Aspen-bound private jets. [14 Mar 2003, p.E1]

Best TV show around It is informative, gives the current news and funny and entertaining. Provides varying points of view on controversial subjects with an emphasis on truth and common sense. Show should get an EMMY! Shirley

Best show ever. I love that conservative bigots hate it!
The narrow minded and racists can watch fox err faux news which masquerade as real news.
Watch Bill if you true intellectual stimulation!

This effort should be called "Hollywood Babble On." [14 Mar 2003, p.37]

There's also more of Maher in the new show, and it's no big surprise that more Maher is less. He's a jerk of the old school, full of unexamined anxiety and arrogance, with a habit of using sexual stereotypes from half a century ago both to put down and to compliment people. [17 Mar 2003, p.152]

Why would HBO, cable's most innovative network ... think it's a good idea to let Bill Maher bring the skeleton of his canceled ABC show, 'Politically Incorrect,' and stuff it into the tattered corpse of 'Dennis Miller Live'?

I used to think maher was too abrasive for political talk, but now he feels like the only one who makes sense as politics has become more abrasive in general.

Could not watch for more than 5 minutes, his foul mouth and abuse of Jesus name is repugnant.

I always find it crazy when I log onto the HBO app on Sundays to watch 'Last Week Tonight with John Oliver' just to have this hack as the first recommendation for me to watch - then I have to dig through their horrible app just to find LWT. No HBO, I do not want to watch this guy complain about liberals and his complaints with installing his fkn solar panels on his hooker bang shed. This guy can't help but gawk down every load from every billionaire in his proximity and then try to regurgitate it to his audience. That's gonna be a hard pass. Now put John Oliver at the front of my queue FFS.

I was unfortunate enough to watch this show in my 20s, believing Maher to be a credible voice at the time. Since then, I have come to discover that he is nothing more than a sell-out puppet who pretends to believe in democracy while peddling globalist agendas and calling for the death of the nuclear family, Christianity, and the American way of life. He is nothing more than a liberal fascist with back-door dealings, Don't waste your time with this show.

The guy is a total a hole who makes fun of dead instagramers in a way that screams insecurity and fear of becoming irrelevant, while making shockingly hypocritical comments along the lines of, you should stop looking at yourself all day, when thats literally what he does. The guy's a disgusting human being and the epitome of the term "ok boomer"
