Aside from a few orienting establishing shots here and there, many of these episodes commit so fully to this alien approach that it’s a legitimate surprise to be snapped back to reality when more traditional looks at various creatures start to sneak through. ... It scratches the human need to be reminded that there is more left to discover, that there are still some quasi-mystical elements of nature that science has barely had a chance to observe, much less explain.

“Night on Earth” has an invaluable asset in Samira Wiley, who provides a kind of liquid narration and is a refreshing alternative to Peter Coyote, David Attenborough and other mainstays of documentary voiceover. She does tend to emphasize the novelty of her program’s technology to an overly emphatic degree, but it is amazing. And what it reveals is a nighttime crawling with creatures—stalking, fleeing, hunting, and surviving. Or not.

I know this is probably blasphemy but this was better than the last Attenborough. The photography was outstanding. It zipped and zoomed around the world from the poles to the equator and even included the interaction between wildlife and humanity in urban environments. It concentrated on the animals and was a pleasure to watch. While acknowledging the severe ecological problems we face it didn't let them overwhelm the audience with despair as many nature shows do. The narrator isn't a zoologist but an actress and she put some gusto into her work which I quite liked. Excellent series.

This is a really cool show that shows off some amazing technology. Some of the footage is so incredible and never before seen that they actually make some impressive discoveries.

Jammed with enough eerie and compelling cinematography to keep us watching.

Too many scenes that are clearly CGI. This is more a work of fiction than a docuseries.
