Off to a strong start but ran out of gas midway through. This show had strong core characters but was ultimately over burdened by complexity. By the conclusion we couldn't figure out who dunnit. And we are not sure we cared.

This series had a lot of promise, but crashed and burned at the end with an extremely stupid ending with a character beamed in from out of nowhere (OK, Canada, but that is the equivalent of nowhere given the characters and countries that are covered in this series) to summarize the case in the most unsatisfying manner for a neo-noir story. It is as if the overwrought plot with a few too many characters and story lines forced the writers to throw together a pathetic finale as they were wrung out and had no more ideas.

Timing. The sequel could only happen now. Clive Owen wears the hat. Perfect lay of the brim. And, perfect Gabrielle with Chiara Mastroianni. And, Teresa with Cara Bossom. No spoilers. The only reason I did not give it a 10 was the final episode wrap-up still had the "problem" unfixed that every main character promised their intent was to fix.

Seriously disappointing fare from a highly respected writer and director that brought us the likes of The Queen’s Gambit, Godless, etc. This project should never have been greenlit, even though Clive Owen wanted to make a stab at resurrecting this role. Hammer, Huston, Bogart, et al made some magic during Noir’s heyday, and it should have been left alone rather than allowing this weak and sophomoric vanity piece to be made.

What a stupid ending! This new person comes in who we havent seen previously and takes all the characters "captive" and solves the mystery. I can't believe that almost all the critics love this show. This has to be the worst ending to a season I've seen in a long time. Too convoluted a story if you ask me.
