It’s a bit Nikita crosses Furiosa with A-Listers, but Anya Taylor-Joy carries this frantic drama well and she is a joy to watch because you have no idea what she’ll do next.

Seems like every week brings another action series, but this one has two outstanding features. First, Anya Taylor-Joy in the title role, who’s is tough, sly and deftly navigates the occasional, well-staged pursuits. The action scenes are the other strong aspect of the series. The series starts as she and her beau (Drew Starkey) accomplish a $10 million heist, but quickly goes wrong, leaving her to outrun the FBI and his corrupt mother (Annette Bening, sharp as always). Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, as the FBI agent, continually rises to her character’s challenges, while Timothy Olyphant quietly plays supportive the long-distance father (he’s in jail some of the time). The showrunner is Jonathan Tropper, best known for “Your Friends and Neighbors," so he’s accomplished in creating intriguing and unusual circumstances. While the plot is never especially surprising (at least so far), it’s the chase sequences and the strong performances that provide the most enjoyment. I was here because of Anya Taylor Joy. She's doing a fine job, but the writing, the story, the fight scenes are all so bad. 3 points because you can see anya trying but this is just pure ass. Repetitive, weak, childish, plot after plot. The Gorge was a good movie though with Anya, watch that.

I felt like I've seen this a dozen times at least. No issues with acting or production, but it's so formulaic. I barely made it through one episode and constantly felt the pull of other things to do. It just wasn't engaging at all.

Sorry but this is so all too unbelievable. It is as if the female detective knew she was a character in a series and read the entire script. Yes, apparently she knows that much more than the fictional characters she plays opposite to in this uneven pile of garbage.

I can't believe the critics were watching the same show-- this is so slow, repetitive, unbelievable, and poorly written. Never once was I worried about Lucky's well-being, or impressed by her grit or ingenuity. Scenes that should be taut and impactful instead drag on, draining any drama from the moments. I don't often write reviews, but after slogging through the first episode I was curious to see if later episodes were better, and saw all the generally positive critical reviews. I honestly don't know what they're talking about. This show stinks.

Predictable, boring, unbelievable, waste of time. 2 episodes were enough to not want anymore. Shame

Je passe par hasard devant cette série de merde de chez Appeule-woke... et... arrêtez les machines ! Anya Taylor-Joy, la si étrange Taylor-Joy, c'est toujours une joie de la revoir ! je dis étrange, car son visage reste une énigme, ni réellement beau ni vraiment laid... mais agréablement fascinant et... énigmatique. Sans doute en raison d'un autre facteur à prendre en compte, qui concerne également son allure et sa silhouette : la grâce ! oui, elle est gracieuse et pas trop mauvaise actrice. Je dis ça, mais ça dépend de ce qu'elle tourne... Par exemple dans son Mad Max, le Mad Max dédié à sa gloire, elle était épatante, exceptionnelle même. Mais là en l'occurrence... ah j'allais oublier, c'est une femme libre, une vraie féministe : elle est anti-soutif. Bravo, Anya Taylor-Joy ! (ce nom composé est aussi très joli, de même que ce prénom, ma foi. Mais où en étais-je... ah oui, là en l'occurrence, elle pédale dans la semoule dans cette espèce de série écrite par une bande d'abrutis et d'incapables. Franchement, virez-les, ces scénaristes très bien payés, bien trop bien payés pour la daube qu'ils tartinent éhontément comme des gros crevards qu'ils sont. Virez-les, remplacez-les par toutes les IA du marché, vous verrez que ce ne sera pas pire... ça pourrait même être mieux et peut-être aussi, moins woke... mais ne rêvons pas non plus, quand même. Le wokisme de cette série est à un niveau standard, rien d'inquiétant. Du moins, je crois. On croise aussi dans cette série un peu de troisième âge : Mamie Zinzin et Papy Alzheimer (merde,j'ai déjà oublié leurs noms, j'suis Alzhy moi aussi). Ils se ridiculisent aux aussi. Il y a également un presque vieux, le bien connu Timo Elephant qui a (déjà) un trop tourné dans des tas de séries de merde. Bah, ça en fera une de plus. Donc, ouais, c'est 'La Fugitive' en somme. Mais nettement moins bien fait que le film quasi antique avec Harrison Ford ! En effet, aucune vraisemblance ici, tout est invraisemblable, de A à Z. Ils ont voulu donner une allure sombre à ce merdier, imiter une vague tarantinade (ou ritchierie) mais tout sonne faux et les rebondissements sont bidons. Même un ballon de basket n'en voudrait pas. Deux épisodes sur sept et... ça n'a pas avancé d'un poil, cette connerie : ça tourne à vide, lamentablement à vide. Pas de bol, voici donc une note proche du vide : 1. (1 pour Anya bien sûr !).

There was a general attempt, there is no grit, no sweat to this show. Just Ana Taylor Joy looking pretty. She evades the police, but never takes any opportunity to show the viewer how much of a true swindler her character is. If she’s anything - she’s the creative type, using her surroundings to her advantage. There was none of that here. The lobby scene as she tries to escape through the kitchen has to be one of the most dull chase scenes to have ever been conceived. Why is she not using FBI undercover tactics against them? Why is she sleuthing and making her way through the casino lobby like a tourist? Worst of all, it’s not like the show is trying to be funny with it. It takes itself way to seriously, it want’s all the drama from her jumping on top of parked large good vehicles, but none of the commitment to properly explaining any of the coincidences she goes through. I guess she’s just ‘lucky’ - but even then, her luck magic could have been used as narrative device. Dull writing makes for a dull action show. Never are the ideas exploited in a way that makes me feel the writers were trying new and creative things. Just sticking to the novel, never taking any risks or opportunities.

I walked into "Cringe" with low expectations, yet it still found a way to plummet beneath the floorboards. It is a repulsive, hollow excuse for entertainment that leaves a bitter taste in your mouth long after the screen goes black. The screenplay is a masterclass in failure. It reads like a first-draft attempt at depth written by someone who has never experienced a genuine human emotion in their life. The dialogue is so stilted and riddled with clichés that I physically winced every time a character opened their mouth. It isn't just poorly written; it’s aggressively lazy. The pacing is a nightmare. It trudges along with the urgency of a dying slug, forcing you to endure scene after excruciating scene of vapid exposition that leads to absolutely nowhere. I found myself counting the minutes, praying for some semblance of narrative momentum that never actually arrives. As for the performances, they are wooden at best and embarrassing at worst. There isn't a single shred of chemistry or authenticity to be found. You can see the actors struggling, visibly uncomfortable with the material they were given, and honestly, I don't blame them. Anyone who approved this final cut should be embarrassed. Avoid this garbage at all costs. It is two hours of my life that I will never get back, and frankly, I feel insulted that this was even produced. It is not "so bad it's good"—it is just unwatchable, vapid, and pathetic.
