Intergalactic is really best thought of as Prisoner: Cell Block H launched into hyperspace, but thus far without the kind of rich character development we saw in the classic 1980s Aussie drama.

By turns impressive and cheap, Intergalactic throws a lot at the wall but very little sticks. The zippy pace can’t cover up on-the-nose writing, blunt performances and an overwhelming sense of déjà vu.

Writer Julie Gearey wastes no time getting to the meat of the story. In doing that, it makes the characters one-dimensional. ... Intergalactic tries too hard to create its world, leaving a confusing mess in its wake.
