How I Met Your Father

Duff is charming as ever and the cast has a nice rapport. ... Still, without the framework of the well known series it pays homage to, How I Met Your Father would be just another perfectly pleasant, often funny comedy.

Despite the updates, this new series certainly feels like a piece of its predecessor in the style of humor, laugh track and direction (Pamela Fryman, who directed almost every episode of “Mother” returns to helm “Father” episodes). The theme song is the same and there are other Easter eggs of varying size and scope. Duff, formerly married to former Penguins player Mike Comrie, is the standout here.

If old episodes of HIMYM feel like comfort food in 2022, HIMYF feels less like an updated recipe than the prepackaged Trader Joe’s version. It’s good enough to pass in a pinch, but not quite good enough to surpass the real deal.

Hulu’s How I Met Your Father has a strong cast, but lame jokes and an excess of schmaltz make it fall short of the original.

“How I Met Your Father” misses all of that spark and feels like watching the copy of a copy of a copy. It’s enough to fulfill a nostalgic craving in the most superficial sort of way, but far too flimsy to do anything else.

The biggest flaw in How I Met Your Father, even two seasons in, is that I still don’t care how it ends.

An inferior sequel. ... Filled with bad dialogue. ... Duff, though a likable, solid ensemble anchor, lacks Radnor’s exuberance, just as Sophie mostly lacks Ted’s impulsiveness.

Loving what I've seen, it's just a nice comfort show. Don't expect it to be exactly like HIMYM.

How I Met Your Father Is How I Met Your Father up to par with How I Met Your Mother? Hell no. Is it a good series? Yes. The characters in this are different from the original series, and they're very distinct. The first season may not be for everyone, especially hardcore fans of the original series, but I think this is something that happens to most spin-offs. Most spinoffs don't get it right immediately, and sometimes audiences aren't open to seeing it till they do. This series got better progressively, and as we got to know the characters more, it was easier to follow through with their hijinks and shenanigans. This series was cancelled too early, and that's a shame, especially as a lot of questions were left unanswered. The cast was fitting but Tom Ainsley as Charlie Winthrop was perfect (also my favourite character.) 6-6.5/10.

No está mal, el primer capítulo es medio ble. Pero a medida que avanza mejora. Es para verla si estás bien el pedo y no tenés nada para ver y querés pasar el tiempo con una serie "comedia". Personajes básicos, uno obviamente le tiene más cariño a los de la serie original, pero estos tienen lo suyo. Es una serie promedio más del montón.

I've read several reviews saying that people shouldn't expect HIMYF to be like HIMYM. Well the fact is that this show wouldn't have any interest and be produced if it wasn't for the success of HIMYM and they obviously hope to catch lightning in a bottle a second time. But that will definitely not happen if they don't use the same formula and the same or equivalent talent. And this is nothing like HIMYM and it's really bad. Hillary Duff is the only actor and character that brings any kind of substance, but the rest is a forgettable boring mess. The humor is so absent that the laugh tracks feels just as displaced as it would in Schindlers List. I have funnier and more creative dialogues with my mother.

I love Hilary Duff & Kim Catrall but this is a big no for me. The comedy in this show is way too used, too many clichés, and a simpler comedy that I just don't see a future for this show.
