It’s a solid showcase for its 21-year-old star. Geek Girl is a likably wholesome, generally low-stakes YA fairy tale — references to Cinderella abound.

The format is a little run-of-the-mill, even by teen romcom standards. .... But overall, Geek Girl is a feel-good, cosy watch that will be happily approved by dedicated fans of the best-selling source material.

It could have been a whole lot worse. The lead was lovely, both as a high school geek and a lovely global model. The characters were nice and had a ton of charm. The story was pleasant. The season wasn't just a high school angst show, even though there were the usual "Mean Girls" characters. All in all, we'd rate this a "pull up some popcorn and binge watch this - you'll enjoy it."
