Perhaps I just have a hard time thinking homicide is funny. Kate Box is fine as the local sergeant, and she is the only one playing it straight. The rest of the cast are various shades of crazy, some, including Madeleine Sami, are so annoying you wished they were the DB, instead of the murder the mostly lesbian characters are obviously ill equipped to solve. The show is a train wreck off uncomedic proportions.

First two episodes make it tough to get hooked. The writers did no favors to the female lead detective (from out of town) because she’s a fine actor but the script makes her into a caricature, at best. The way she jumps to conclusions is not plausible and is beyond “over the top” and, therefore, interrupts the attempt at building suspense. It’s jarring because the rest of it is so well done, especially the local lead police officer. Updated: definitely improves in second half of series. Eddie the detective gets much less cartoonish and reveals a human side, though not in any compelling sense. Heads-up: If you routinely use the word “woke” to describe things that offend you, you 100% will not enjoy this one (and try to open that mind a bit please.) But the show will keep you guessing through the final episode.

Serious murder mystery with lots of humor and strong female leads. Best I have ever seen. Case keeps you guessing to the end. Fingers crossed for second season on Prime.
