This four season Netflix series starts very strong, with the first two seasons being a must watch. They present a beautiful, well paced story, memorable characters, and a dark, compelling atmosphere that pulls you in quickly. The animation is stylish and impressive, even though there are moments where frozen or static scenes are noticeable. Overall, the journey feels epic, and the world building works well even for viewers who never played the **** last two seasons are weaker, but they still manage to close the story in a satisfying way. There are too many generic monsters, and many boss battles feel predictable, with the heroes winning without real cost or consequence. The dialogue is often too long and sometimes repeats information the viewer already knows, which becomes more noticeable when binge watching. Despite these flaws, I really liked the series, and as a complete experience, it stands as a solid and enjoyable adaptation.

The Castlevania anime is more than likely the first well done video game to tv/movie/anime adaptation to succeed at surpassing the source material. Much of what made the video games so good was the gameplay was tighter than the pair of jeans you know you don’t fit in **** video games didn’t focus much on telling a good or thought provoking story. So when an anime was announced they realized, quite obviously, that you can write gameplay, so they had to write a good story. The entirety of season 1 feels like one big introduction while season 2 feels like a much more cohesive piece. However, season 1 is mostly spent on the hero characters and season 2 kind of sets them aside. Either way the first two seasons are pretty close to perfect with fleshing out the characters, and having nice nods and references to the video games. Season 3 & 4 are a bit different, I did not enjoy most of season 3 outside of Trevor & Sypha’s storyline. Season 4 was gradually progressing starting from okay to good to great which finalized the story in a nice way. Overall, it’s a very enjoyable piece of media I recommend people give a go.

God Daym, this is outstanding. It's one of the best animes I've ever seen. Granted, there are a few problems, especially with Season 3, but once you hit Season 4 and all the characters culminate in a grand spectacle of Action, Passion, and just sheer outstanding visuals and direction, it is a master of Animation. The problems and I'm just going to highlight them here: There is some Gay/lesbian stuff in here and maybe unwarranted Nudity, F-bombs and some plot points for a character are boring until they start to actually do something, but everything in this anime was done for a reason. It was incredibly well planned and thought-out, just stick with it, there is a reason for all of it. Folks in the end, this anime made me shed some tears of Joy (I'm not joking, I cried a little) just because of how lovable the main characters are, all three of them. I would give this a 10/10 if I wanted to but due to the problems I mentioned I have to lower it to a 9/10. To the Writers, Directors, animators, VA's you have done an outstanding job, and I show you my respect.
I highly recommend this anime, if you are unfamiliar with Castlevania, an anime lover, or even new to Anime, this is a must-watch.

Very pleasantly surprised. It's got amazing art, fantastic voice acting, and a good mix of action and humor. Very creative fight scenes and night creatures. One of the best new shows I've seen lately.

An absolutely wonderful adaptation **** series that had nowhere near this level of depth to its characters. This show has managed to make its main antagonist feel deeply human and sympathetic, while also having compelling protagonists, an engaging plot, and a solid soundtrack. While I feel like there are some inconsistencies in the animation quality, this is, overall, an absolutely fantastic show that will likely appeal to anyone, whether they have any love for the video games that inspired the show or not. Easily one of the best video game adaptations I have ever seen.

This show is an example of video game adaptations done right. The show took the characters, themes, ideas, concepts and ran with them in a new direction creating something akin to Castlevania but very much telling their own story. Even taking some creative liberties which were done well and didn't mess with the source material. Like Issac's story and also being a race swap character done right, attempting to find himself and have his views challenged. I would go as far to saw he is favorite character in this show. This would be a great introduction to the franchise and I hope it convinced you to play the games as well because those are incredible as well. If I had to knock this show for some things it would have to be in the mediocre soundtrack especially for Castlevania standards. The dialogue in this show can be a bit immature and take me out of the more serious tone of the show itself. On last thing the show while still amazing throughout its 4 season run starts to lose its steam in the later half of the show that being seasons 3 and 4. Besides that the show does everything else great and the first 2 seasons are amazing with the last 2 being great.

I'd only give the series 6 points if it wasn't for Isaac, my fav char (I also liked Dracula, Lenore, Hector): The Isaac vs. Carmilla fight is the best of the entire series as well as one of the best fights of all time across genres, an 11/10 perfect masterpiece and the reason why I'd rec the series.
However I was annoyed by the constant insults and slang used by many characters, immaturity and bi-alucard sex-scene. I found the general portrayal of Alucard (except Alucard vs Trevor), actually to be pretty bad as an immature and hedonistic character.

An awesome series, the characters are just flawless and intersting. Pretty much better than Nocturne.

I need to comment on a specific character in this series, Isaac. He is completely different from the original Isaac from the games, and managed to be MUCH superior to the game, his philosophy, his moments, he is easily one of the best characters I've ever seen, I would easily watch a spin-off series of his. And besides, it's a good anime.

Netflix’s Castlevania is a daring attempt at adapting a video game franchise into a modern animated series. The first two seasons are the best of the bunch, leading to a well deserved and epic finale in the second season. In moments, it feels as though you are watching a video game. A prime example of this is one of the characters finding a new weapon. The callbacks to established lore from the series make it all the more compelling and although liberties are taken with the source material, most of these liberties are arguably used effectively. Castlevania starts strong but ends with two mediocre seasons, seeming to lose all momentum the previous two had. Nonetheless the experience proves to be one of the better video game adaptations, succeeding where many seem to fail. This is in large part due to the animators who go above and beyond in providing a sense of beauty to the world and flare to the combat. And the star of the show undoubtedly is Dracula, proving to be a deeper and more complex character than most of the rest of the cast.

This started out fairly alright and became less Castlevania by the season. I find that the art style is great throughout and save for some scenes here and there the animations was amazing. The story and plot, however, was poorly paced and filled with cringeworthy dialogue. Then of course, the Castlevania franchise is well-known for its great musical score which makes it baffling how little of it was used in this show. Save for a couple of tunes, the score was mostly generic and unmemorable. Around the end of Season 2 the show's story derails and becomes a chore to watch. It's very annoying to witness an art department being so loyal to the franchise while the writer could only muster to peek at Wikipedia for reference, only then to go on and write something completely unrelated instead...

Castlevania has to be more like devil may cry bayonetta hellsing ultimate especially van helsing the Belmont have a bloodline the tepes should also have a bloodline each Belmont is a reincarnation of the previous one and tepes Morris and lecarde even if there is a spinoff you should still do a season 5 with curse of darkness make a season 5 on curse of darkness or put more curse of darkness and dracula curse

ncredible story and animation, this anime is priceless. Excellent work by netflix in adapting this game to anime, the fight scenes are incredible, the characters are well developed, the animation is very good and let's not forget the audio, it is a true gem of the original netflix anime.

Based around the events that transpire within Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, the anime is unfortunately directed by a man adamant about knowing nothing about the series, not wanting anything to do with it while ironically wanting to depict Castlevania with bare minimum knowledge of events throughout the franchise. A strung together nightmare of nihilistic, worthless plot twist original characters with amazing animation wasted on what feels like filler for an anime that has surpassed its manga counterpart, the anime has an inherent failure to coherently acknowledge and engage long time fans while acting as an introduction to new ones with the bare minimum knowledge of the entire franchise. What little plot follows Trevor Belmont's battle against Dracula and post is obscured by insistent and jarring cuts between various characters and numerous, dramatic changes done to the canon. Most notably, Devil Forgemasters Isaac and Hector are introduced from Castlevania Curse of Darkness with whole new backstories and skin tones, none of the classic universal or folklore monsters or bosses would make an appearance, the fourth major party member and fan favorite character Grant Dynasty was completely removed and replaced by a nobody character named Greta due to the creators bias of Pirates in Wallachia sounding "ridiculous" and Dracula's personality was completely butchered, neglecting his past as Mathias Cronqvist as well as lacking his powerful presence that is far more present in other incarnations of Dracula such as the Rosario Vampire manga and Hellsing Ultimate. As depressing as it is to say, the show is a shell of its former glory, having nothing to define itself among the horde of generic video game spinoff anime's and showered with praise by people similar to the creator, having little to no knowledge of the series. If there's anything to enjoy about this adaptation, it would have to be the personality of the three main leads, as well as the incredible battles and music.

Might be the best animated series I've seen so far, including a lot of animes. Must watch. Not sure how much it is true to the games lore, I don't know much about the games at this point.

An edgy show written by a fat neckbeard simp with the mind of a child. If you want some level of maturity and elegance look elsewhere. If you want bottomless nihilism and hokey characters written by a 50 year old emo teenager trying to guess what an adult relationship is like then you might relate to this show. He openly admitted he knew nothing about the games and wanted nothing to do with them. The animation is **** and largely covered up with layers of Adobe polish to hide how poorly drawn it is. The writer has had over 100 women come forward against him recently so keep that in mind when watching all the lefty **** off themes of this show. ****/ I would say 90% of the positive reviews are just from staff and Netflix trying to promote (save) the show from the garbage bin. The fact that some idiot out there made the decision to commission FOUR **** SEASONS of the same no name writer is **** mind blowing in the breadth of human stupidity. That person genuinely might win stupidest media decision of the decade award. "I know let's give a beloved gaming franchise to some fat British manchild pervert". Morons. This show is a perfect example of why the Netflix model of pumping out anime is never going to work. If you go with the lowest bidder each time, you will get crap. In terms of animated shows this might be one of the worst I've ever seen. Just name any other anime bar the new Dota **** (same studio) and it is head and shoulders above this crap.

Castlevania makes a compelling argument for Warren Ellis never writing another word again. Or at least, for no-one else ever stooping so low as to read it. Castlevania is sometimes interesting to look at (during the 2 minutes of action nested within over 20 minutes of absolute stock-still non-animation and bad dialogue performed badly). It is never, over the course of 4 seasons, an interesting story. It is paint-by-numbers done poorly. It is the most basic, unimaginative hero's journey told so sloppy that a fool might mistake it for creativity. It's real, honest garbage. And most of all, ANYONE could do better. Warren Ellis, do us all a favor and hang up your quill.

I grew up playing the games, this series has pretty much nothing for me. Transparent writing by an edgy 14 year old. Thebhumour isnt always bad, but it's one note. It's always the same kind of jokes. Alucard and Trevor are just the same character with slightly different mannerisms then they ask like they hate eachother so.
Pardon the spelling errors. F**king text box wont let me see. Have plenty more to say about this, but I'll sum up. Its a hijack of castlevania, made my edge lord. It's worth skipping.

This show deserves a watch. Seasons 1&2 are utter perfection. The three leads are charming and have drastically different personalities that create alot of great dialogue throughout the show. Season 3 does slow down the story quite a bit and can feel as though a bridge season looking back. Overall the show is beautifully animated, some fights in the show are jaw dropping and does not disappoint with the violence. Please watch this show. We need more US animated shows of this quality.

Os dubladores dos principais são ótimos, animação boa e com uma arma difícil de desenhar (o chicote do Trevor), mas sei la não é um 10 falta algo pra ser completo como juntar os personagens.

After a halfbaked first season and a very average second season, they finally got it right with season three! The dialogue and plot have improved lightyears from the first two seasons. I am 100% on board to see where this story goes next :)

TLDR: Lovely vampire Samurai Champloo remake with comprehensible antagonists. I didn't watch it, when it first appeared on my Netflix account, because I watched too many Vampire themed stuff and got burned out by emotionless dudes being all powerfull and sexy. But people kept praising Castlevania, so I had to take a look: The vampire stuff is pretty much the same, just the most powerful ones are a little bit more humane e.g. have emotions. You'll see a badass women from the start, which gave me hope for refreshing strong female roles in this anime. The reasoning of the antagonists are understandable, which is sadly rare. The heroes throuple is basically the same as in Samurai Champloo: two dudes fighting with each other and a cute women between them. I like that she isn't helpless, compared to the dudes. The overall style and sound is lovingly put together. I find myself looking closely to the landscape, because it's frequently gorgeous.

First season: very good, tense. Watched episode after episode.
Second season: boring vampire soap opera, forced myself to watch due to the quality of the first season. It seems to finally lift up towards the end, but then jumps the shark, goes back, kisses it on the head, and jumps it again.
Verdict: the animation is top-notch, the gore is portrayed with murderous realism, and the characters had potential. The story, however, might appeal only to a young audience.

Does the show leave much to wish for? yes it does but it still does a decent job and is quite enjoyeble, good story, quite good characthers and visually pleasing, but im not sure how much experience the writers have with the games and another thing that i dislike is that the powerlevel of creatures and characters goes up and down like a yoyo, to many fights or battles are portried very onesided, it may give a little more drama but as i viewer so do i loose some immersion.

One of the best animated shows on Netflix. This show is proof video game based TV shows and movies can be good if people actually put in real effort. The characters banter is great, the character and monster designs are gorgeous, the changes from the source material make sense (Isaac is an excellent example - the original version was a generic villain, but the animated Isaac is one of the best characters in the show), and it isn’t hard for someone unfamiliar with the games to understand the plot. My only complaint is I really wish some minor characters got more screen time and development and despite being the main villain I wish there would be more done with Dracula overall.

Simply epic. Western anime doesn't get much better than this. Just finished season 4 (the final season), and for the first time I can recall, a horror -- anime or otherwise -- managed to make me teary (in episodes 9 and 10). The story is surprisingly sophisticated, and the dialogue, voice acting, and animation are all top-notch. There is a LOT of gore, so this is not a show for the squeamish (and definitely not for kids). That said, it's by no means *all* gore; there is definitely story and character-building, and the writers did a great job of humanizing characters... even the non-human ones. The show spends time fleshing out the main characters, so the drama has some, uh, teeth. If you're an anime fan who appreciates a great story with interesting characters, this is a must-see.

Season 3 review This season is bad, in the full sense of the word, and the writing is bad, as follows: * Bad and stupid dialogues and their repetition at times. * Stupid and bad construction of the main and secondary story characters. * Slow and boring events significantly in the first half of the season and continue less frequently until the second half of the season. * Thoughts of events in the first half of the season are repeated in other films or series. - The fighting in this season is fairly good, but what makes it not interesting is the stupidity of enemies and monsters most of the time. - The only good thing in this season is the drawing that has evolved from the previous seasons. This season would have been better if it had been written well.

Castlevania season 3 is a masterpiece of horror fantasy that never fails to disappoint.
