The show's essentially a sketch idea expanded to series length, and as a result is uneven. But when it hits, it's as hysterical as all those people screaming and breaking things in the clips from upcoming episodes.

While Another Period sometimes leans too heavily on "It's 1902!" gags, it's buoyed by an absurdist sensibility, genuinely surprising jokes, and a strong cast. [26 Jun 2015, p.54]

Don't listen to the negative reviews. This show is absurdist humor at its finest. Perfectly parodying Kardashians and Downton Abbey, with a fantastic cast and hilarious results. Michael Ian Black as Peepers is my favorite thus far. Can't wait for more episodes!

One of the funniest comedy series in a while. It really tries to offend everyone leaving you with absurd jokes, statements and actions. All in all I was very entertained by this show. Can't wait for season 2.

Sharply conceived satire can sometimes accomplish what outrage and disgust cannot, sending some of this junk back in the direction from whence it flows.

Another Period also skewers gender politics (and classism and the cult of celebrity), but the jokes are not particularly charged, aiming for--and granted, usually reaching--bawdiness, not brilliance.

Another Period is too intent on lampooning every period convention ever to wait even a millisecond for a laugh, resulting in a show that's more frantic than funny.

There are amusing moments, but the conceit ultimately seems better suited to a “Saturday Night Live” sketch than another series. Period.

I find "Another Period" downright hysterical. I've only watched the first episode so far and I couldn't stop laughing. The show appears to be a spoof of the likes of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" and "Downton Abbey." No doubt, irreverent. Surprise and delight to see Christina Hendricks (most famously from "Mad Men") in a comedic role. Plus Thomas Lennon and the divine Artemis Pebdani who I first saw on "Scandal."

Having a hook isn't enough to make a show. There is a lot going on here. This is a mockumentary. It's a send up of a place and time (Rhode Island around the turn of the 20th Century) that many probably don't understand. And it's a send up of both "Downton Abbey" and "The Kardasians." All that would be great if it were funny, but this simply isn't. The pilot was a hot mess, and I don't know how this will get any better.

This show is not absurd, not funny, not well written...I could go on like this for a while. A pile of dull bad jokes and terrible acting jobs. Do yourselves a favour: Don't waste your time on this.

I watched most of the first episode. About 2/3 of the way in, I reluctantly decided that this is just an unwatchable mess. It made me sad because I think Natasha Leggero is one of the funniest people on the planet and I was really looking forward to this series. Oh well, better luck next time.
