With the 2nd season of this sweeping epic series, it feels like we have concluded a vast movie of the golden age of cinema. An epic tale of good versus evil, or revenge and greed, and of love overcoming all odds, to the doors of death itself. I have never had so much respect for Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. Both of them deliver epic performances, far outside their mundane movie roles. Taylor Sheridan allows them to explore the full range of their talent. This is a series about their everlasting love as Jacob and Cara Dutton. The love story of Spencer Dutton and Alexandra is timeless too, a call back to the age of selfless, fearless love that will pull at your heartstrings. I must pay homage to Timothy Dalton for his slithering, slimy role as the manifestation of pure evil. And Jerome Flynn plays a conflicted, confused poor man punching way above his moral class. Both add much substance to the story. The savagery of this season cannot be understated. No punches are pulled. There is death around every corner. Sheridan also manages to weave in important messages about the state of society, culture, environment, and history. He never fails to read the pulse of our current reality and express it in his series.

Why are we watching these shows? They're offensively stupid and no one in them acts like a human being that has ever walked the earth. Yet, I keep watching them.
