To the Wonder is arty for sure, but for the first time, its maker is working with anxieties we all feel. Let’s hope this Malick sticks around for a while.

A stunning film about the limits of love and faith. A tad repetitive, as most Malick films are, but otherwise brilliant. The cinematography alone makes it worth watching.

I have seen lots of Romantic movies before, but To The Wonder movie Depicts love in the best way! Unstructured, free, full of uncertainty and beauty.

Malick is a true searcher, true to his preoccupations and definitions of soulful rhapsody. To the Wonder repeats its central motifs aplenty, yet you may find yourself thinking about life, and living, and love, while sorting through the movie. Even if it drives you nertz.

There are moments of pure poetry in the movie but the production as a whole seems overlong and repetitive and takes a detour or two that distract from the aching beauty of the central story.

The director’s first real misfire, a meditation on love and lost paradise that starts with breathtaking assurance and slowly crumbles into self-parody.

Having been deeply moved — though often exasperated — by Terrence Malick's previous film, "The Tree of Life," I don't have the heart to belabor the failings of his new one, which is depressed and deeply depressing. The only thing that's wonderful in To the Wonder is the imagery.

Plotless and almost mute, To the Wonder is the kind of fiasco that keeps film-festival programmers salivating and discriminating audiences stampeding toward the exit doors. It’s a simpering yawn that makes "The Tree of Life" seem like an action thriller with Bruce Willis. It is about … nothing.

“Life's a dream. In dream you can't make mistakes. In dream you can be whatever you want.” ‘To The Wonder’ is a movie directed and written by Terrence Malick. However the movie will always be known to me as Roger Ebert's final review. His points are clear and thought-provoking, even if I don’t always agree with him. I loved his take on Malick and I bet Malick would have as well. So this gave me more of a vivacious viewing experience. While I wouldn’t recommend it to a conventional audience, as it lacks any structure that people who haven’t be exposed to his work would find insufferable. And it’s something that I can’t see myself watching again, but it’s a movie that explains nothing, yet shows everything. A draining, but rewarding experience. When I mean rewarding - like something you reflect on in the next few days. There’s so much beauty on screen with the beautiful score and beautiful people. Bringing it all to life through the lens of Emmanuel Lubezki amazing camera work. The little dialogue didn’t distract from the great performances that was both playful and grounded. At times it loses itself within the wonder. A bubbly and a very current movie that can be hard to stomach. Malick seems more interested in capturing moments than anything else. There is a story, just small and simple enough for an explosive impact. It’s not for everyone and I'm sure that Terrence Malick is perfectly fine with that.

To the Wonder is a positively beautiful film with, despite superb cinematography, many flaws. Ultimately, the story is unsatisfying emotionally in almost every way conceivable. The film is laden with compelling performances, which are conveyed through bodily actions and facial expressions more than dialogue itself, for the most part. It feels like a twenty-five minute short film that's been distorted into a feature length; almost like a slinky that's been stretched too far. It isn't particularly a bad film, but To the Wonder unfortunately gets too caught up in its idyllic and poetic imagery to delivery something above the level of dissatisfaction and, quite frankly, disappointment.

20 minutes into the movie I was wondering when exactly it is going to actually start... 40 minutes into the movie I was wondering the same thing. The plot can be scripted with 2 sentences and took nearly an hour to develop. It was uninteresting, I didn't feel any emotional attachment what so ever, and I couldn't find any reason to continue torture myself... This is one boring, boring movie. 3 out of 10 for the cast appearing.

Malick is undoubtedly a brilliant director, who has achieved much success from previous films. But, the mediocre story line and monotonous performance has truly reflected upon it's predecessor, The Tree of Life and has proven Malick's incapability to cope with what the young audience wants, especially those who demand fertile romances.
