When the film comes back to focusing on Daniel and Michelle, and when O’Brien and Wu are able to fire sparks at one another over grand cosmic questions, the dark forest of The Outer Threat feels rather bright.

A weak plot coupled with not enough conflict to warrant any sort of tension. This contributes to little character development and in the end, a resolution that hardly justifies the time investment in seeing the film.
