The new version amplifies and deepens all that is good in the original. The key is in the visuals. Photorealistic computer-generated imagery renders its African landscapes and animals with astonishing realism.

Director Jon Favreau's The Lion King is a worthwhile reimagining that relies on nostalgia over risk-taking.

The Lion King 2019 was such a great movie and was the last disney movie with James Earl Jones who returned to play Mufasa one last time which was so sad to hear that he passed away but the live action lion King will always remains his return to the lion King series after he was in the lion guard movie the lion guard return of the roar and the lion guard TV series James Earl Jones was more than playing Mufasa in The Lion King he was Darth Vader in the Star Wars series but his voice of Mufasa will live on through the movies and the TV series Disney made Mufasa The Lion King to honor their dear friend James Earl Jones who was a Disney legend and a fan favorite who gave us great characters like Mufasa and Darth Vader ! The lion King 2019 was a really good movie telling the story about a young cub who goes through losing his father and feeling the guilt thinking that it was his fault but not knowing that it was his uncle until he finds out at the end and I love the lion King it was my favorite movie through my childhood because I can understand the story and I love the music it was so good and seeing Mufasa death in live action just makes you want to go and get a box of tissues or a whole tub of ice cream to just cry your sorrows out

The new King is competent, reasonably entertaining, faithful to the original, wholesome, sometimes even enjoyable.

While it’s a near shot-for-shot remake of the original, this version of The Lion King lacks much of the emotion and expressiveness that keeps people coming back to the first. ... Someone who’s never seen the original version could probably enjoy this strictly inferior clone. But why should they?

The upshot is a film that is stunning to look at, even inspiring at times, but dramatically bizarre. Obviously, this technology has its place, but it makes too strong a statement to be casually used in remakes.

Like Pride Rock itself, this remake seems a spectacle to behold afar, but when you step closer all you can see are its monotonous shades of grey.

There’s something very cheap at the core of this overtly, ostentatiously expensive film, reliant as it is on our memory of the original to accentuate every significant moment.

Yes, the movie looks visually stunning, gorgeous, and almost super realistic, however, in their effort to make it look so lifelike, they seem to have forgotten one critical aspect, these animals are supposed to talk and watching them speak without any facial expressions felt weird, so weird, most of the time, what i see on screen are realistic, straight-faced animals, like something out of a nature documentary, with their mouths forming words, it's just bizarre, and at times frustrating, the movie loses that one of many magical elements of the 1994 animated original, the voice acting, when i heard James Earl Jones and Jeremy Irons voice in the original, i felt chills, and the same could be said for the rest of the cast, in this remake, however, i felt nothing, the new voice actors and their voice acting acting feels far weaker compare to the original, even when they sing, additionally, the film includes a few unnecessary new scenes that weren't in the original, which don't add much value, and how can you make a Lion King movie this boring, and i think i know the answer, because it's an unnecessary remake burdened by a flawed new take on the story, besides the movie looking beautiful, and i guess not every second of this film is horrible, some upgraded scenes are not that terribly remade, overall, The Lion King remake is still one of the worst decision Disney ever made.

sometimes you should just let animation be animation I don't understand why they couldn't have done a reanimation but with new voices. that would've have been better than this beef monstrosity.
