Winstead, in her most fruitful role since 2012’s Smashed, is a powerhouse, while Monroe, though never camp, is frequently and fabulously boo-hiss.

Although it holds some of the same contrivances as the original, Hulu’s new remake also maintains tension and features a masterful performance, this time by Mary Elizabeth Winstead as the mother.

Underrated. The score should be higher. Most of the movie is a typical thriller about upper class suburban family but I found the twist to be good enough. Then some of the dialogue and acting isn’t realistic. Deserves higher than 52.

Cumpre bem o papel de remake, até mesmo não pouca o sangue. Mas o roteiro é aquilo mesmo, sem novidades, com personagens secundários estúpidos. Não supera o riginal, mas também não é um erro.

It’s probably better to have a mixed-bag remake with real thought put into it than a superficial thriller retread of tired yuppie phobias. 'The Hand That Rocks the Cradle' may not rock, but hey, let’s give it a hand anyway.

Cervera’s film is consistently intriguing, elevated by the dynamic between Winstead and Monroe, who have solid onscreen chemistry.

Rather than feeling like the kind of culture-shifting moment the original film became, this remake is more of a shrug, destined to be sadly scrolled past by disinterested streaming audiences.

The Hand That Rocks the Cradle is easily at its best whenever it digs into the art of repression — repressed feelings, repressed desires, repressed pain.

While De Mornay was chilling as a woman haunted by a miscarriage and her husband’s suicide, Monroe is merely chilly, lumbering like a mopey teenager stuck with reciting unintentionally funny lines that aim for sexy but kill the mood.

To a certain extent, it's understandable why Michelle Garza Cervera chose the remake of 'The Hand That Rocks the Cradle' as her next project after the acclaimed 'Huesera.' An unconventional facet of motherhood, albeit from a different perspective, is present, not to mention the story's heavy dose of physical and psychological violence. However, streaming now dictates the rules for much of the industry, and because this new version was conceived for that medium, there's little room for risk. Therein lies everything that went wrong with the film, which unsuccessfully attempts to modernize the famous psychological thriller, even stripping it of a significant part of its perverse and twisted essence.

Some remakes make sense, even if only to reinterpret an idea or offer a new perspective. This is not one of them. There’s no fresh angle here, no real reason to revisit the story. What we get instead is a hollow copy, a diluted version of something that already worked perfectly and never needed to be **** main problem lies in the script. It lacks internal logic, fails to build genuine tension, and makes decisions that feel completely arbitrary. Character motivations shift whenever the plot needs them to, and twists don’t grow organically from the story but from a forced need to seem intense. Everything moves forward awkwardly, without emotional or narrative coherence, making it hard to stay engaged.Comparisons with the original are unavoidable, and this version loses on every front. The earlier film worked because it understood suspense, ambiguity, and gradual unease. Here, there’s no real mystery, no lasting threat, none of that creeping discomfort that slowly got under your skin. What once was tension is now just **** even the performances, which in another context might have helped, manage to save the film. There is talent on screen, but it’s trapped in material that gives the actors nothing solid to build on. Characters never feel fully real, and the final act closes the story in a clumsy, empty way.Visually, it offers nothing memorable. Flat, functional, and forgettable, it feels more like content made to fill a catalog than a film with something to say. An unnecessary, disappointing remake that adds nothing and diminishes what came before.

I stopped watching after 40 minutes. I cant stand watching movies that just waste time trying to crawl it's way to a plot.

Garbage that looks like it was churned out by AI that didn't understand the subtly and complexity of the original. It's also seems to confuse the movie Hand that Rocks the Cradle with the substantially worse copycat movie "Single White Female."
Characters have no charisma, depth, or likeability. We might as well be watching robots reenact Single White Female.
