Kids could still watch the peerless 1966 original, though their blooming little cortexes will probably respond to the shiny-bright novelty here — and be newly spellbound by a tale almost as old as color television, but still evergreen.

With its charming character animation and inventive art direction, The Grinch is a vast improvement over Ron Howard’s live-action adaptation of the same story.

A very good holiday movie. Though I am going to admit that it's kinda hard to keep track of everything that goes on here.

Helped me through my knee surgery. Despite feeling weird the day before watching this film got me through it

Beautiful to look at, and diverting enough. The material written to fill out the story is entertaining, but it doesn't resonate. You can't top what Seuss wrote.

The result is a reworking that feels both unnecessary and uninspired, even if it’s too genial and visually captivating to be flat-out off-putting.

Bad as this movie can be, there are far worse things in our world than a story about the value of love and kindness, and the joy of sharing those things with those who may never have known them before (kudos to Cumberbatch, who sells the climactic transformation).

In this new, totally unnecessary version of Dr. Seuss’ holiday favorite, the mean one (voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch) isn’t all that scary or cruel.

The film’s vision of Christmas is so insipid and lifeless, it’s hard to see why the Grinch would even bother to steal it.

The Grinch. He's trying to steal Christmas again. Very nice and kind Christmas cartoon. Perhaps this version of the Grinch will seem too kind to many, but this does not spoil the impression at all.

The grinch it’s quite funny but it did not look like he did anything except stealing Christmas

Wasn't as good as the one with Jim Carey. It was still pretty funny. You can do a lot more with animation. I prefer the real thing though.

The narrator was so poor; there must be a million actors who could have read a children's book better than that. Out of place hiphop; inconsistent character actions with the Grinch and, finally, thinking a screaming goat would be funny half a dozen times. On the plus side, the animation was top-drawer; the animation team can be proud of itself at least.
