Terminator 2: Judgment Day

Because it is a sequel, it's less satisfying than the more idea-driven original, but this is still top-flight kick-ass entertainment

Cameron's achievement isn't only technical. He's using all the not-so-cheap thrills of a violent genre to make a movie with an antiviolence message, and the wonder of T2 is that he pulls it off without looking silly.

The movie is a great big feast of wreckage. But that’s also what makes it a bit numbing.

It's a joyride until you think about the film's biggest contradiction. How come this movie celebrating the superiority of human feelings over machine precision is most alive when thrilling in the mechanical perfection of the Terminator and T-1000? Inside Terminator 2 beats a human heart. But its soul is that of a killer machine.

Arnie is Arnie. He has all the cute lines ("No problemo," "Hasta la vista, baby''). And he does more with a squint than anyone since Popeye. [3 July 1991, Life, p.1D]

All the virtues of the original... are present here, though when Cameron tries to milk some sentiment out of the "personality" and fate of his top machine he comes up flat and empty, and the other characters are scarcely more interesting.

The surprise is that a picture made to be exciting for 136 minutes is so unexciting most of the time. It starts with a bang and keeps banging, so there's little suspense and no crescendo. [12 Aug 1991, p.28]

Terminator 2: Judgement Day does its best to keep this familiar scenario fresh. There are some surprises, fun bits of action, interesting relationships between characters especially between John and the T100. and the effects on the villain are great. With all that said though this is still a nonstop action movie that is remarkably similar to the first. The film overdoes it in the action, recycles some plot elements, and isn’t as paced as well as its predecessor. The film gets a pass though as it doesn’t ****. With a film having the exact same premise and in some cases being strikingly similar to the last Terminator film it would’ve been so easy for this to feel like a lazy rehash especially with the overblown action but it handled it well. Had the film really delved deeper into the characters and its idea of controlling fate this could’ve been a pretty good movie and maybe even surprised the first. As it is its ok. I’m glad I saw that but the excessive non-stop action and at times too familiar story prevented me from getting as invested in this film as the first one.

I'm surprised this horrid creation turned out to be a classic. "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" is basically the same film "The Terminator" was, only with better effects.

From watching this movie I thought the graphics were **** and that they could of done better with the ending it's just them distorting the chips in liquid that completely does NOT look like actual melted metal. So PipeBomb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
