Silent House is smart about its scares as well as its delivery method.

It will make you jump, to be sure, and your heart to beat a little bit faster. But what's truly scariest about it takes place not in the body, but in the mind.

In today's world of movies, it's hard to find a decent film. Although the trailer looked thrilling, I came onto Metacritic, saw the critic reviews and said "Well, it can't be that awful". Take my advice, this was quite possibly one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The story was dreadful, the scares were nothing, and the acting was top notch horrible. Save the money, and get it on video if you're that desperate.

This is well done smart little film. The acting is terrific as it takes you into a world of sheer terror. You cannot get away from the any scene as the single shot concept creates an atmosphere that make it impossible to look away or catch your breath.

It works as a suspense-building scare machine, given heart and depth by Olsen's performance - though it's still an effective exercise in misdirection rather than a strikingly original vision, and now it's a remake of an effective exercise in misdirection.

The film's most interesting aspects are its gimmicks rather than its frights.

My attention was held for the first act or so. Then any attempt at realism was abandoned, and it became clear that the house, and the movie containing it, were devices to manufacture methodical thrills. The explanation, if that's what it was, seemed contrived and unconvincing.

Pulling off the thespian equivalent of running a marathon, the hyperventilating Olsen works awfully hard in the service of a film that, in the end, does little or nothing to preserve her character's integrity.

Silent House dies a sudden and egregious death when the amateur players in Olsen's company, Adam Trese and Eric Sheffer Stevens, as her character Sarah's father and uncle, respectively, open their traps.

Billiantly done movie. Very smart and almost overly engaging as a horror movie. For 88 minutes this movie puts your whole body and edge and after it's over you can't help but disect all the details you must have missed. Rare movie that is meant to be seen more than once. The pioneering of the single take movie really speaks to the director's and actor's talent level. Great movie, go see.

This movie has an interesting concept as the director makes the film to appear as one long cut of video. Unfortunately, the "one cut video" is the only interesting thing about this movie. The movie slowly and painfully goes from a supernatural/horror film to more of a psychological thriller as Elizabeth Olsen attempts to navigate a house with a seemingly never-ending supply of doors. The movie leaves you confused until the end when everything suddenly snaps together like a puzzle with the "twist" ending. The only problem is that it's not the kind of twist ending that leaves you going "Wow! Didn't see that one coming!." It's more of a twist ending that leaves you going "What the f*** did I just sit through?"
