I give it 1 point for giving captain hook a backstory wich was fun. The rest of the movie is really racist by race swapping a lot of characters. There are also female pirates in the movie wich was kind of awkward. Even though female pirates existed they were extremely rare. Mostly woman were not accepted on board a ship because of bad luck and other reasons, pirates were no exceptions. Captain Hook looked like a normal sailor dude, hardly a pirate. How about creating a original movie with colored people instead of race swapping white people thx Disney, take a example of Miles Morales if you want to put it in the least amount of effort but at least not race swap characters and give the characters their own original backstory. Total fail this movie.

If nyquil was a movie this would be it,it's boring as all hell, wendy is a completely different character from the original movie but also the book peter pan they made peter into a soy boy all the kids can't act Jude law acting chops are wasted here and overall not his strongest performance neverland looks like this was shot in Scotland or Ireland there was no magic hell there was no dame color was I seeing this movie through the lens of a dog the lost boys (oh sorry and girls)home looked an abounded crack house Tinker bell I can't even see cause the director didn't want to make her shine/sparkle because that's not realistic my guy your supposed to make a fantasy nothing is to be attracted to realism that's why people like fantasy and oh my god tiger lily only exists to remind you that there's native american representation.

No joke. The reaction shots of Tinkerbell are the worst shots ive ever seen. Middleschool production, insulting to every human being, including children.

how could you destroy a wonderful book and even better classics like that? every single character has been turned inside out by Disney's new policy. if you want to produce a feminist film, call it something else

This was atrocious for so very many reasons, but perhaps the most succinct thing I can say is that the writers of this movie clearly don't LIKE the source material. Not even a bit. This travesty reflects that. Instead, the point was to "fix" the source material (and keep the content sludge pipe flowing). The problem is not with remakes per se. Many original Disney animated versions are adaptations themselves. The problem is that modern Disney is not moved to distill the stories in new and/or delightful ways. Rather, it's to capitalize on something that was old, and try to make money/content off of it. Disney can't tell new stories for the same reason their adaptations like this one fall flat: an illiterate grasp of history, and absence of moral imagination, and no understanding/love of storytelling to begin with.

I don't know what it is, modern feminists or woke equity politics, but how do you do such a bad job with something so easy. The source material has already established a massive fan base, and the story is already written. All they have to do is transcribe it from book to screen, and you'd have the best show of the decade. It's so simple. You have to be a extremely bad writer/director/producer to make something so great so bad. It's also extremely unethical to take someone's life's work and change the source material with such disrespect. Then, just to make everything so much worse, you add on top of that fan baiting. Fan Baiting is done on purpose to not only stir up controversy for publicity but also serves as a barrier to real criticism and ensures that the show will succeed because if anyone has a different opinion, they will just be labeled as a "racist/sexist/transphobe/etc." and their opinion is ignored. It's a method to make everyone think you're virtuous when really you're just a horrible person spreading hate with anyone who has a different opinion than your own. You act like you're fighting fascism by spreading and using fascism. It's hypocrisy in action.

While the criticism of the movie is a bit exaggerated it is not completely wrong. I think there was even a more competent story that had to be sacrificed to fit the “modern audience” agenda. Actually I enjoyed parts of the movie and there are a few good ideas. I don't mind that the lost boys have female members, Tinkerbell is black or that Wendy has more action scenes. However not everything works well, there are cringe moments and some parts should be a bit toned down. Also the idea of Captain Hooks backstory is not that original. There is a book that toys with even darker ideas that they use partly here (I am vague to avoid spoilers). If I had to describe the movie it is a darker more matured version of the story which could be the problem. We wanted more a colorful Disney movie that resembles the original movie. For itself it is not that bad. The actors deliver a solid to good performance. Especially Captain Hook played by Jude Law is memorable. I also praise the songs in this which I normally hate in many Disney movies. Probably because these are sparingly used. While I am at it it could be a bit more colorful. Overall I am not sure what to make out of it. I give a 5/10 and say the movie Hook did it better and the adaptation for modern audience did not make it better.

Still not as unoriginal as other Disney resummonings, but alas, it still is an uneventful bore of sorts, "Peter Pan & Wendy" makes you feel more like you're falling then flying.

I hate this movie, is a big piece of poop and they also changed the actors simply because of the stupidity of "normalizing" children to see different types of people.

I love this movie! All of the Peter Pan movies, in fact, I don't get why people have to be so hateful and spread negativity if this is not hurting anyone. Even the animated version was not the same, not a single one of the other live actions was the same. The point is to bring something new, exciting and maybe even modern. You can have an opinion, but if you need to insult, offend, or bring politics into it, you're automatically wrong. In other movies Peter Pan is not a redhead, Tinkerbell was not blond, Tiger Lily was white, and nobody complained about the forced exclusion. Representation matters, some people cry for nothing, something that is not hurting.

A Refreshing and Inclusive Take on a Classic Tale. 'Peter Pan & Wendy' brings a new and refreshing perspective to the classic tale. With its diverse cast and inclusive themes, this movie is a must-see for fans of the original story and newcomers alike. One of the standout aspects of this movie is the diverse cast, which includes actors of various ethnicities and abilities. This representation makes the story feel more inclusive and reflective of the real world, which is especially important for younger viewers who are still forming their understanding of the world around them. This also makes sense to the story, race doesn't affect nor change the story so I don't see it as a bad thing here. The movie also takes a fresh approach to the story, with some twists on the original plot that keep it engaging and surprising. The characters are well-developed, with each having their unique strengths and flaws, and the relationship between Peter and Wendy is explored in a deeper and more nuanced way than in previous adaptations. Another highlight of this movie is the stunning visuals and imaginative settings. From the lush forests of Neverland to the glittering cityscapes of London, the movie transports the viewer to another world, filled with wonder and magic. Overall, 'Peter Pan & Wendy' is a delightful movie that captures the spirit of the original story while also bringing something new and inclusive to the table. Whether you're a fan of the original story or just looking for a fun and heartwarming adventure, this movie is definitely worth watching.

a fun movie, enjoy, and a little ****'s a shame why the tone of the film is so dark and dull, like a horror film like this, it should be a colorful fairytale film, right?

This is a total disaster from start to finish. My problem with it is mostly that Neverland looks like a boring Scottish island. Except for the island being totally green on the surface, the rest is filmed in "dark and grey" colors. Neverland is supposed to be a fantastical island with different types of locations. A jungle, "the plains" where the Indians reside, a swamp where the Crocodiles live and more. It's supposed to be colorful and looking like a place you would wanna visit. Google "Green Scottish islands" and there you have this Neverland. Utterly boring. Looks cold and windy. And then we come to the "woke" part. I am not racist, but I am tired of changing the original work. Here we have 2 girls in "The lost boys", Peter Pan is now Indish looking, and Tinker-Bell is black. And Tiger Lily is barely part of the movie. The only thing the film has going for it is Jude Law. And its sad that when he said yes to something on that on paper could be very good, he ends up being part of this disaster. The most bland version of Peter Pan ever!

I love the part where blonde and white Tinkerbell has turned into black, and the lost boys has become girls. So respectful and strictly consistent to the original classic! Get woke, my friends, you have been set free from the White Cisgender Patriarchy!

Not literally but the construct it took to conclude this movie and bring it to live to me wasn't worth the effort, in my eyes maybe in the near or far future a beautiful reboot would have to take shape, we all grow up disney actually like what's going on, is this the turn you've taken maybe i thought wrong seeing how many of us anticipated the movie waiting for a whole new world of wonder just to get the airbag hitting you hard in the face, to some it was awesome but to me NAH. Made my eyes hurt cause in my sense i just had to see it to the end, despite being clueless and all i never knew the meaning until Peter just wanted endless adventures with his best pal hook spoilers alert BOOM. It's more like two friends trapped in an endless loop of tag.

This woke, inclusion agenda makes this movie a total disaster… A black Petter Pan and black tinkerbell? Is forced. Peter is so immature and is the bad guy. Wendy has no moral fiber, theres no ethics in the character. Hook and the end is the good guy.

Go woke get broke. La Wendy empoderada junto a las niñas perdidas que son las que rescatan a Peter. ¿Por qué Disney suprimió la parte de las niñas perdidas en el trailer de su plataforma?

Not the best adaptation ever made. Instead, Disney seem to have been relying on the advertising campaign and nostalgia. Good on them for trying to make it more diverse and inclusive, however. Great work on the special effects. Everything else is a bit lacking though. Remakes from animated to live action are always contentious and difficult, but this doesn't quite get there. Someday Disney will nail the process.

It was a train wreck. I do not fault the acting, it was fine, but they changed everything that made us love Peter pan as kids. Wendy a little girl can best everyone at sword play, did they not read the book? Awful waste of time. I'd cancel Disney plus if I had it.

As a long time fan of anything related to the Neverland mythos, this immediately became my favorite Peter Pan related film. Not the film most people were expecting (as its less of a direct adaptation of the original Peter Pan, and more a parallel story that builds on the same themes) and likely not the type of film many people were hoping for. But it is, without a doubt, a well crafted film full of beautiful scenery, an emotional character driven story, and great acting performances by the majority of the main cast. I personally highly recommend this film.

A waste of time remake that doesn't understand the charm or intent of the source material. And when you don't understand the source material you make something that is uniquely awful in that they create an original take on a beloved classic, bending it and twisting it with a tired and worn out narrative that destroys any originality that the writers thought they were clever enough to do. Shear Hubris.

Movie wasn’t good at all, nothing exciting to see, “the lost kids” supposed to be about only boys and they ended up including two annoying girls, they didn’t respected the magic of the animated movie, neither respected the childhood of millions of people. They changed the physical appearance of many characters… including Thinker Bell and Peter Pan. This movie will be forgotten in the next following 3-5 years because of how mediocre it was.
