Equal parts horror masterclass and internal home-invasion thriller, “Ouija” is as chilling and nerve-racking as they come. It’s a sort of cinematic heart attack — irreparably damaging to the body and mind, with a slow recovery time.

This is one overstuffed horror movie recipe, with a dash of “The Exorcist” and a spritz of “Ghost” among its tasty ingredients.

This is a fantastically underrated horror film from master Director Mike Flanagan. The original was rubbish but with Flanagan at the helm we get a horror masterpiece with a very old school feel, almost reminiscent of the exorcist. The imagery is very disturbing throughout, along with the actual concept itself. Solid pacing, good acting, all of the elements are in place. It actually scared the living crap out of me. This is how it should be done

“Ouija” is genuinely frightening and smart, the rare horror prequel able to stand on its own merits and deliver a full-bodied story that succeeds without any previous knowledge or trappings. However, in outfitting this particular haunted house with monsters to spare, Flanagan loses the thread of what’s really scary: Everything we can’t see.

This is a prequel superior to its predecessor – we’re not bored with board-game ghoulishness yet.

The film complements its goose-pimply frights with an unabashedly naked emotional gravitas.

It’s still no scarier than any branded content, and perhaps only the most lukewarm slumber party would truly need it. Yet if you were to ask whether Origin of Evil offers a better quality of timewasting than its predecessor, my finger would hover inexorably over YES.

Ouija: Origin of Evil is, somewhat unexpectedly, not that bad.

One of the scariest movies I've ever seen. The film keeps you on edge by the fear of the unexpected and offers little to no jumpscares. Now that's a horror movie!

Pretty much, this movie is exactly what you think it will be. However, it does have a bit of heart with some well rounded and well written main characters. Also, the creepiest little girl ever (with exception to the Exorcist.) Good build up and creepy enough atmosphere to get the job done. Overall: This is a decent horror movie that doesn't really do anything new, but what it does, it does pretty well and is entertaining.

Its a "Meh" Movie. Nothing new and nothing really interesting but if you like scary films it will scratch that itch. Hereditary,Abigail Hunting and The Nun were way better. Not a bad movie just not really that great. Doctor Sleep on the other hand was amazing! This gets a solid 6 from me.

If you want to see something generic and forgettable whilst not being terrible then I think you have found your next film to watch! This is incredibly well made boredom. Utterly unoriginal and fantastically forgettable. There are some jump scares. It relies heavily on the impossibly wide open mouth to freak you out. The scares are relatively good but when you’re so unengaged with everything else that is happening then what is the point unless all you want out of life is jump-scares.

The movie started out okay, with a nice 60s setting and a decent slow-building creepy atmosphere. Then it just went full-out ridiculous, which completely destroyed any creepiness it had built up. I spent the last act of the film laughing and mocking the characters for behaving so weirdly.
